Hello All and welcome back to my trip reports. Next installment is day 6 at the Magic Kingdom.

Breakfast was again up in the cocierge lounge. Today I tried the oatmeal and boy was it the best oatmeal I had ever had. I'm really addicted to the coffee machine and these delicious pastries and muffins. YUMMY!!!

The mother in law would like some oatmeal, but it has brown sugar and she can't have it. I spoke to Theresa and not 5 minutes later, they brought out a small pot of regular oatmeal. "Well, it's about time" was my MIL's comment. I didn't even waste my breath telling her I had requested it for her. Some people just will never be happy.

So off to the MK we go. Today we were doing Fantasyland first since we skipped it on Sunday. We also missed the parade and that was a definite on my schedule.

My little guy Zachary wasn't feeling to great, and wound up sleeping most of today. Slept through most of the rides at tomorrowland. I was so upset. This was the part of the trip I really thought he'd love.

Anyway We did Peter Pan (longest of the waits 20 mintues), Snow white (walked on), It's a small world (also walked on). We decided to go back over to tomorrowland and ride Buzz a few times before we staked a spot for the Share the Magic parade.

I love that parade. It is just fabulous. My son Dylan (4) actually got to go out and dance with some of the characters.

Oh did I forget to mention it is really HOT and HUMID. I think to myself how horrible I'll look in all the pictures. Frizzy hair and a sweat ball. How lovely. That's why I wear a hat in most of my pictures, not to protect my head from the ravages of the sun, but because between florida water and the humidity, my head is one big frizz ball.

We have priority seatings at the Plaza Restaurant on Main street at 3:30, so we head right over there after the parade. We really appreciated the strong air conditioning in there. It just brings you back to life. I truly can't imaging how much worse it could be in July or August. Some of you going then will have to tell me.

The Menu at the Plaza for lunch is very varied. They have burgers, salads, and lots of sandwiches. We all pretty much had something different. Zachary came back to life a little bit (thanks for motrin) and said he was hungry. No chicken nuggets in this restaurant, so we ordered him the mini hot dogs. Dylan wanted them too. The MIL went crazy when I said to order 2 kids meals. "They'll never eat it". Well, that's all I had to hear. " 2 kids meals please". Guess what - They ate it all.

Dylan fell asleep in his stroller after lunch, so I did some shopping on Main Street. I love those shops. I could spend an entire day just shopping and browsing.

It was about 5 pm and DH and I looked at each other and said "Swimming?" "Absolutely" back to AKL we went.

We spent the next couple of hours swimming in the pool. Dylan loves the water slide and goes up and around about a hundred times. AHHHH, so refreshing.

The evening cordials and desserts are the perfect way to end the night, and the boys love seeing their friends in the lounge.

Today was our second day at the MK.

I can tell you about the summer heat and humidity! Its awful!! Temps in the high 90's sometimes 100 and above, humidity so high you could cut it with a knife...the list goes on and on. Aren't you glad I came to answer your post? ;) ;) We live in temps just like that...no fun.

Anyway, I'm sorry your little one felt bad today. I hope he feels better after his swim and is ready to go tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your day. :)

Glad your trip was going well...except Zachs temp....I'm enjoying your report...

Really enjoying the report. I can just picture your mother in law reading this report :D Now that would be funny! Let's hope she doesn't DIS.

Also we've never tried the Plaza..Was the food good?

Laura,

the food was excellent. I had a great hamburger, my son had a turkey club, that was huge. My husband had a really good salad.

I highly recommend it.

Hi Lizzie...

Thanx for posting more great reports! I have a few questions!

I was curious whether the lounge offerings had changed.. breakfast sounds the same - love the oatmeal! But how were the hot appetizers and the desserts - what were they serving?

Also - there was a WONDERFUL lady who worked mostly in the kitchen area - her name was Marge and would always bring Noel a cardboard puzzle to entertain her - I wondered if Marge was still there - she is a very special lady.

Did you get plastic bottles of water for the parks from concierge? or did they have glass?

Was housekeeping on the ball with turndown and the pillow gifts? In 9 nights we only had one incident where we arrived back and the animal was missing  Later there was a soft knock at the door and a "special delivery" - did you receive anything African from the concierge staff?

How about water bottles on your departure day - the bellman had a "string" bag and water for us with a nice card... ahhh this is bringing back nice memories.

Hope you little guy recovered quick.

Ok Cassie,
Here goes,
We weren't around for the appetizers much. I remember some meat on a skewer, and a round thing with rice. Both very good.

The desserts were these little brownie type squares with like a mocha frosting. They also had these little puff pastries with coconut on them. There were some different ones on different nights. Also had oatmeal, chocolate chip and sugar cookies. I was very pleased with dessert.

There was no Marge, but Theresa and Ronni. Funny both were from NY. Theresa has long hair and is the sweetest thing. She brought out the plain oatmeal for the MIL. Ronni is great with the kids. She played with Dylan every day and also brought them little safari cars to take home. The staff is unbelievable.

Housekeeping was amazing. The only glitch was night one. They assumed the boys would be in the room with the bunks and left the animals there. But, the boys were actually in my room with the two queens. Mentioned it at the concierge desk and it never happened again. Every day when we'd get back all the animals were arranged all over the room.

Once we came back and housekeeping actually brought a chair over to the balcony door and arranged the animals on the chair seat, arms and back as though they were looking out the balcony. Don't forget we had 2 boys getting animals so by the 5th night we had 10 animals in the room. Plus safari Mickey which was dropped off first night.

Oh yes the had plastic water bottles for the parks every day. I asked for them the first day, but then after breakfast every morning, they'd bring them over to our table. It was Dasani water.

Cassie, I really owe you a debt of thanks, because I think it was your posts that made me go concierge at AKL. And I truly loved it. Now I'm trying to plan our next trip there.

Liz

As always excellent reports Lizzie. Your MIL still sound like a hoot. You know, she might be the worlds on living heart donor:eek:

As for July and August, I've been there 3 times during that period and I really do not recommend it. The temp gets to 110 plus and the humidity is brutal. As well, those walk on attractions and the 20 minute waits, forget about it. During that time most attractions in Fantasyland were 90 minutes long. Sure, you could use a Fastpass but that is only good for one ride at a time.

Question-I will have a 2 year old and 10 year old on our trip. Did your 2 year old take naps in his stroller? I know some days we won't want to go back to the hotel room if the hours are short. I'm just wondering what my chances are of going all day with a 2 year old and if he will be well rested in a stroller. Did you get your 2 year old an autograph book?? Wondering if I should do this also??

Okay-tacky question ahead....Just wondering, when it came to diaper changing, did you ever discreetly change a wet diaper in the stroller or did you always find a restroom?? I know it seems tacky to me to, but I also thought if we were far from a restroom-I don't know, I've never taken a child that small to WDW.

My 2 year old took naps in his stroller every day. I made sure I brought our 2 strollers from home. The Disney strollers are hard plastic.

I did get him his own autograph book and pen. And he knew when we saw a character to come looking for his book. I would definitely get one for yours.

And yes, I have changed his diaper in the stroller. Don't think it was a tacky question and I've seen loads (no pun intended) of people doing the same.
