Ah,

Today is a no park day. We will be spending the whole day, drinking in this magnificent resort.

Once again we awake to the glorious animals feasting outside our balcony. My teenagers went up to the lounge without us. Oh, you thought I meant the giraffes and zebras didn't you. Silly. Nothing is as voracious as a 15 year old male teenager with an all you can eat buffet upstairs.

While everyone lay sleeping late (lazy people) I savored the opportunity to go downstairs to Zawadi Marketplace (the gift shop at AKL). They have some of the nicest stuff. I see lots I want to buy, but I'll say no right now. You don't know me, if I see something I like, I'll rationalize not buying it first. Then, I'll go back the next day, and think, this is my last chance, might as well. And I buy it anyway.

Went upstairs to the lounge to grab myself a latte and some danish and had myself a nice breakfast watching the giraffe from our balcony. I love giraffe.

Ah, the rest of the herd is up and we are all preparing for a day at the pool. The playground is just behind the pool and really a nice place for the kids to play for a while. It did get a little hot mid afternoon, but by 4 pm it was back in the shade.

I looked over the wall in the playground and there I saw 3 giraffes eating at a feeding box. there are animals right behind the pool as well as the flamingo feeding area. There is so much to do!!!

We grabbed a quick lunch at Mara. Dylan had reservations at Simbas Cubhouse for 4:30 We thought we'd let him go play while we ate at Boma's. He loved Simbas. There were 4 other kids there with him. 2 of whom he already knew from concierge. There is so much to do there. There are all kinds of video games, movies, coloring, games. And the staff is so great. He had macaroni and cheese for dinner and ate it all.

Bomas was wonderful. What a buffet. So much from beef, poultry and seafood. Just delicious and the zebra domes are awesome. I was partial to his fruit tart that had some custard on it. YUMMY.

Mother in Law, hated Bomas. You have to understand this is traditional african spices used in their cooking. So if you're not willing to try a very different seasoning, I'd avoid it. I think it was a lot of curry, and ginger.

Dylan didn't want to leave Simba's, so we let him play for another hour. We took a walk around the pool. Then went to get him. He was so excited, he couldn't wait to see what Mickey had left him in the room. I had arranged with concierge to have 2 stuffed animals left in our room each night for boys. they were truly a delight. Every night a different animal and they were arranged on the bed in different poses.

Well,
Tommorrow is our sunrise safari so we have to be up very early. We're turning in early. Have to be in the lounge by 6:30 am.

I can't believe our trip is almost over.

Hi Lizzie,

Isn't it great to spend a full day relaxing at the resort? Many people feel the need to go somewhere everyday and don't stop to smell the roses.

I never noticed animals behind the wall at the Hakuna Matada (sp) playground... maybe I'm not tall enough to see over the wall!

Boma is different... didn't your smother-in-law find one thing acceptable? Even the bread, salads, fruit, desserts? :(

Looking forward to your Sunrise Safari Report.. I just received an email today that mine is confirmed for August 30th :)

>>^..^<<,

Not a thing. She even left the table and went back to her room!!! UGGHH

Sunrise Safari is next.

Great report. Thank you.

I can't wait to hear about the Sunrise Safari.

How did you like the pool at AKL?

What did your little ones think of the evening offering in the lounge?

Just curious, did you happen to run into a CM by the name of Joe while in the lounge? He worked over at Vero Beach and last time we were there he said he was transferring to AKL Concierge to be closer to home. He is very nice and I hope you had a chance to meet him.

I didn't see a Joe. Angel and Jack were the guys.

I loved the pool at AKL. The zero entry is so great. Especially with little ones. I just hung out by the zero entry side with him. He splashed and swam where he could stand. It is great. My 4 year old loved the slide. No great shakes compared to some of the other slides, but he loved it. The pool is enormous. The pictures you see of it, don't convey it's size.

Oh and the pool bar - what can I say. Yummy, Yummy drinks.

We werent' there much for the evening stuff. But since most of it comes from Boma, I would assume it to be along the lines of what you would find there. I did see a meat kabob kind of thing. The desserts were great. The kids did like those.

Dear ff

My daughter is the pickiest eater alive and she always found something to make her happy at evening offerings (yikes sounds like a church service) :)

Everynight they had chicken nuggets and a couple of nights they had fries too!

They also had a cheese platter with crackers, fruits, veggies and dip, other dips like hummus, flat breads, rolled up sandwiches - I think they were vergetarian.. and then there were skewers of either salmon, chicken, pork or shrimp - sometimes 2 types and one night they had chicken wings.

Desserts were cookies, little tarts, cheesecakes, squares and a couple of nights they had zebra domes. :D

I bet you are looking forward to your trip,

Cassie,

To say that I am looking forward to our trip is an understatement.

We can't wait. We have made so many changes to our reservations that I was starting to get worn out. We finally decided on what type of room we wanted to stay in and for how many nights.

We have the ressie and are just going to sit back and relax now.

This will be our last trip to the Disney area for a while so I want it to be special and relaxing.

We are probably only going to do 2 parks and spend the rest of the time at the resort.

I CAN"T WAIT.

I have to get the countdown timer!!

Thanks Cassie,

I feel better that someone could answer the evening offerings questions.

FF - I know how you feel. I look forward to hearing your reports as well!! I will be just as persistent. LOL

Lizzie,

Sorry for being so persistent. I guess I got a little carried away. I just wish we were there right now.

:D

FF - Don't feel bad about changing your plans - everyone does that - it is normal. I finally thought mine were all set and now, happily - my girfriend and her daughter may be in Disney the same week - so I will be changing all my PS's around soon :D
