Hello All - Full Schedule today

Today we slept in a late today. Mickey called at 7:00am to wake us up for our adventure.

Today was Dylan's Pirate Cruise. He was so looking forward to his. We needed to be at the Marina at the Grand Floridian by 9:15. We all got ready and hopped the Monorail over to the GF.

This resort is truly beautiful. And much bigger than I expected. Hubby and I decided we would love to spend a few days there, but I think it would have to be a trip without the kids.

Anyway, back to the Pirate Cruise. We arrived at the dock and were welcomed by one of the captains. She promptly brought out a bandana hat with Mickey ears. SOOOOOO cute!!! We registered Dylan, signed the waiver and waited for all the other kids to arrive.

Most of the kids seemed to be in the 5-7 age group. Dylan is 4. He quickly paired off with one of the girls going on the cruise. The captains told the kids they were going on an expedition to look for treasure. Taught them the pirate chant "AAARRRRGGGGHHHH". And off them went. The pirate cruise is from 9:30 to to 11:30. They actually got back a little later. They cruised and looked for treasure at the POLY and GF and Contemporary.

One of the best parts was meeting a fellow DIS'er. Millipore. I was so happy to meet someone from DIS. I looked for lime green ribbons all week and never saw any. Milipore, it truly was a pleasure meeting you.

As the kids came off they all chanted AARRGGHH. They had bags of loot, gold coins, necklaces, rings, etc. They were served a lunch of PB&J (uncrustables by Smuckers), juice and some cookies.

Dylan had a blast. I would highly recommend it to anyone. There was only one child that had a problem getting on but her parents said she was going. She wound up having a great time.

Oh, I should mention, while he was on the cruise we had breakfast at the GF Cafe. Had a very lovely time. The food was excellent and so was the service.

Off to EPCOT. We needed to do the World Showcase on this visit. Also Imaginarium and Innoventions. I should have bypassed these two areas. I forgot from our last trip, that the little guys really would be all over. It is a wide open area with mostly computers and e-mails to send pictures and some exhibits. Not for the little ones.

On our way to World showcase, we passed the fountains that spring from the ground. All the kids were playing and it was sooo hot. We sent Dylan and Zachary (2) to go play. We spent about an hour there. Changed their clothes and made our way to the WS. Stopped to meet some characters from the character caravan.

We had lunch at Restaurant AKershus in Norway. I was looking forward to this since I had read so many reports. It was not for me. Most of the cold buffet was fish, and some fish salads. The hot entrees, were a beet dish, a lamb dish, a salmon dish and I can't remember the last one. My husband loved it, kids hated it.

The service and the servers there were wonderful and my daughter(15) loved the Norwegian waiters!!! Yes, the hormones rage in WDW.

The most fun we had at the WS was in Italy. The living statues are a blast and not to be missed. I won't spoil the surprise for those of you that haven't been. Just let me say, don't miss them.

They had wonderful drum players from Japan. We listened to them for quite a while.

As for rides, really the only ones are in Mexico -
El rio del tiempo (a boat ride) and Norway - The Maelstrom, also a boat ride, but this one has some bumps and surprises. My 2 year old loved them. No fear at all.

Also no lines, we walked on and again.

We left the park at about 8:00 pm, went back to the Poly, to do some laundry and pack for our transfer over to AKL Concierge tomorrow morning.

Hi Lizzie...

Glad your son liked the pirate cruise! I also had breakfast in the Garden Cafe and it was so nice.

I didn't realize you had a daughter - I thought you had all boys!

As for Akershus.... ewwwww - the poor kids probably though they were being punished :D

Looking forward to AKL reports

>>^..^<<

Hey Cassie,

I knew you'd be the first to post.

I have 15 year old boy/girl twins and my little boys 4 and 2.

I started my AKL posts. I'm afraid they are going to be long. I can't stop raving about that resort.

I was thinking about you, and how you waited with me for my trip, now I'll be waiting for yours.

Hi Lizzie

I must agree with you regarding the food at Norway, I don’t mind it but it is not my cup of tea. I asked a co-worker of mine what types of dishes are know from his neck of the world, basically from that area, it was scary as he nearly named off everything on the menu.

As for the Grand, let me tell you it is something you truly have to experience. I stayed there last year a couple of weeks for my honeymoon, lagoon view, every night just staring at Cindy's Castle - WOW. I managed to get there a few days again this year. I must say that it is my favorite. You are right about one thing, I feel that it is best done without the kids (I don not have any so it is only my opinion. Actually me anode my wife always joke that WDW won’t be the same when the kids come because then we will have to do what THEY want to do :p )

Awesome reorts on your trip by the way.

Thanks boss-

I agree about the GF and kids, but it will be awhile before we get to experience it without as my 2 year old is attached to me.

As to Disney with kids, I still command. My older two got to go off on their own as they didn't want to do the kiddie stuff at the MK. But I still rule!!!

I'm hurt that you didn't mention meeting me and my wife on Day 4 of your trip at the pirate cruise ...

On a more serious note, I love you trip reports. Your experience regarding your DMIL drives home why I don't vacation with my own mom let alone my MIL...

Millipore,

Please accept my apologies. It was written in my passporter, I neglected to incorporate it into my written report.

Please note the edited report.

Thanks

Oh please -

I truly am sorry and there was a big section in my passporter about actually meeting someone from DIS. I was so excited and every one always looks forward to reading about meeting other DIS'ers.

How was the rest of your trip?

Oh, and I will never travel with my MIL again.

I have never thought of having my 2 girls do the Pirate Cruise. Who do I call to sign them up & how much is it?

Lizzie,

Thanks for the review on the Pirate Cruise. I do have a question, was it very hot & humid the day your son went? How did he fare in the wheather? My girs are scheduled 7/31 and I am seriously thinking of rescheduling. My 3yo is especially vulnerable to the heat and I am also a little concerned about sudden thunder storms. Perhaps I should reschedule for our Dec trip.. Any thoughts?

And dahess, this is booked thru dining, and I think its either 19.95 or 24.95 pp.

Sorry guys,

I haven't gotten any e-mails today abouts posts to my threads.

It was hot and humid. But he did ok. Our whole trip was at 92 or better. I've never been in July, so I can't compare for you.

it was 24.95.
