Living the dream

I saw a rather moving moment this week while waiting for Mary to complete her onboarding process. I was along for the ride as I needed to renew my AP last Friday  seems funny not renewing hers but she will be walking in on her ID.

One of the more moving things I saw was a young lady coming out of casting. She stayed up near the door having an animated conversation on her phone. If one observes for a few moments, one can tell who was offered a part and who was passed over. It's easy to see as the soon-to-be cast members have a booklet or pamphlet in hand as they glide back to the car. Most of the others tend to be emotionless. This young lady was moving slowly and when she passed the car I noted the runny streaks of eye makeup on her cheeks. I knew that she would not be living the dream she thought was in front of her, at least for the moment.

It caused me to think a bit as I am accused of living the dream with my new position in FLA.... I think the phrase "living the dream" has even deeper meaning for those who have dreamed of being cast members for years. Maybe more appropriately for the WISH folks, living the dream to the finish line of a runDisney event. What ever your dream live it.

Thanks coach! I needed that tonight. My dream used to be to be a ballerina (I was 4, ok?). When faced w a very difficult injury a few years ago, my dream became just to be able to walk-run-dance-play with my son and do everyday things again. I'm 99% there now and the number one reason I run each time I go out is because I told myself if I got back to the point of being able to run again, I would never take it for granted. Thanks for the reminder that I'm living my dream with or without any race finish line crossed or PR achieved. Sometimes I forget like on my crappy run today. But tonight, I'm going to try to be thankful just for the ability to have had a crappy run!

Thanks for the post coach. I know the sting of rejection from Disney's casting folks. Shortly after moving back to SoCal from Massachusetts, my wife applied to work in the happiest call center on earth. She has years of inbound call center experience, a Disneyland Annual Pass, a sailing on the Disney Cruise, and several visits to WDW. She aced the first interview. She thought she nailed the second interview only to have casting call her to tell her that she was not selected. It was rough, but it's ok.

As to living the dream, I'm dreaming of crossing the finish line of the WDW Marathon. It will be my first marathon.

Thanks Coach! I had always wanted to run a marathon but knew there was no way I could ever accomplish it, I could never run and did not like to run. A friend told me about RunDisney and then the seed was planted and I found out about the Galloway method and that it was ok to have walk breaks. I started running in January and have completed 3 1/2 marathons, W&D coming up and will do the marathon in January. I am living a dream I did not know was possible!
