Has anyone been to the living seas in EPCOT lately? We were there last week, and in the past (2 years ago I believe) I remember a "ride" being there. A track ride that took you through a portion of the aquarium viewing. Last time we just got in the Hydrolators to Sea Base Alpha, but I did not see the ride portion. Is it gone, or did we just miss it? We bypassed the film portion of the attraction.... did that cause us to miss the ride?

There used to be a ride, but they took it out. The Living Seas is no better than any aquarium around the country. That's why I avoided it on my last two trips. I really needs some work bad.

We always visit Living Seas to see the Manatees, but I wish they would update the pavillion--maybe some Finding Nemo touches. It's a shame that the coolest things to do there involve hefty extra fees--Dive Quest, Dolphin Swims, etc. Not that I'm brave enough to do those!

I think I am the only person in the world who is fond of Living Seas. I like the mother-in-law tongue sea weed looking grass on the walk up, I like looking at the stuff on the winding cue in, I especially liked seeing the model of the nautilus - that is one of the real models from the film!! I like how calm that big round room is. I don't like the movie too much, but it makes me laugh when Melissa says "and then, the DELUGE," "and it rained, and rained, and rained." I like the hydrolaters, I like it when kids who are just old enough to figure it out start asking questions about it, I liked the sea cabs. I always liked going to see Lydia and Mariah, and I was happy they got to go to the wild. I worried over Lou's tail, that guy is so damaged. I like sitting down in the walk way around through the sea base. I like the idea that it is a seabase. No other aquarium I was ever in told me a story that I had went down into a seabase. It appeals to some jules vern sci fi inner geek in me. I was so happy last time that they added a tank of jelly fish, because I had liked seeing them in the Chattanooga aquarium so much. I always thought that I wouldn't want to eat seafood and look at the fish swim by, but I really like eating at coral reef because you can so leisurely watch outside the seabase. It is relaxing. I just like it.

Melissa said she likes it to, so I don't have to bear the burden alone. I do wish they would put some money into fixing it up, but I'm not sure that I wish they would cartoonize it.

The Living Seas was quite impressive when 1st introduced to Epcot, however, it is in need of something new and innovative, along the lines of a Finding Nemo theme in which the whole family can enjoy.

I still enjoy the Sea, I like reading the poster info on early underwater vessels in the que leading to the movie. I was stationed on the USS Holland, named after the first sub. I wish the cabs were operating though.

I don't know if I want a Nemo theme to take over the attraction though. I like the fact that the Sea has a scientific lab feel to it. Some Nemo tie-in would be fine, but I don't want plastic fish floating on string tethers filling the tanks.

OT, but has anyone eaten at the Reef lately ? How is it ? Worth trying next visit ?

I do miss the ride portion...not sure why they closed it.

I like the living seas too and the underwater lab theme. They really need to add a bunch of new exhibits though and restock the main aquarium. There is just too much empty space there now. All three of the informational pods could have several new exhibits right now. They seem really empty the way they are.

As far as Nemo is concerned, I think they should have some new mini aquariums out with clownfish and the like and an informational plaque with Nemo characters telling something about there real life counter part. If Nemo is used in an educational manner it would work really well. They really should have done that before the movie came out. I'm sure lots of kids are just dying to know more about the Nemo sealife.

I always enjoy The Living Seas, but DW gets a little ill when looking through the plexiglass at an angle. You know, the way things get distorted. Anyway, last time we went through in december 2002, the ride was closed off and a CM said that they were doing renovations... but that has been a while now. Is it possible that this neglect of the living seas has something to do with the Gemini project, ie : Soarin' over Epcot? Isn't that supposed to go up near the land and living seas? Or perhaps they will eliminate the seas when soarin' comes in? I wonder....

Screamscape (www.screamscape.com) reported the following earlier this summer in June: "Living Seas Update / Finding Nemo - News - reports that while Eisner was delivering a speech this past week about the Disney Digital Decade he brought up their latest hit with Pixar... Finding Nemo. He mentioned that the Nemo franchise would be supported by plans for a sequel, TV show, a variety of products and be part of an update to Epcot’s Living Seas."

So, to answer some of your questions, maybe they will update Living Seas, and maybe with a Finding Nemo theme.
