Hello! We were considering have a dinner at the LSS. I have never seen the room in person - I have only seen the DFTW photos.

I didn't know if anyone had any photos to share or links to TRs with them?

Also in the pictures disney used there are tons of fish and turtles right up next to the window? I feel like for those pictures they must have dropped a lot of fish food right there or something. Is it really that amazing in person?

Also has anyone ever hired mickey to swim by?

Thanks!

Heya,

if you look on my pj- i have only just a few hours ago added photo of Living Seas Saloon from when i visited earlier this month on march 5th.

It is an amazing place - but to me i thought it was very big for pur party. Our coordinator Diane was honest and said that quite a few people had had parties of about 30 or 40 and they spread out the people by putting 4 to a table because you are not allowed to move the tables around- you can only spread people among the tables or add more chairs to the tables.

It is a proper show off location- one to have if you want to really impress people and show off.

The bad points- you have to pay an extra rental fee - this was around $600/700.

It is pretty dark in there too- you can see in my photos- i was having problems with my camera so that may sway my choice because the most important thing for me is photography.

It really is an impressive venue - i was like .. wow to the windows of the aquarium- i kept saying- everyone will be fixed to the windows!!

i hope the photos on my pj help ya!!

x

I just looked at your PJ - thanks so much!

Do you think if we have 50-60 people that is too few? I don't really want everyone to be really spread out...

no i think that would be perfect.. there is a limit to how many people they can have in thier too - i may be wrong but i think this was 70/80.

The room was set out when we saw it to seat about 60 and it was like 6 people to a table- you can change the number of people to a table but you cant move the tables but yeah, honestly, i would go for the venue if i had about 50 people going- which at this rate it looks like it!! hah!!

I was considering it for my reception until I actually visited it. Here are my thoughts:
The pros: the view of the aquarium is amazing, it is unique, the guests will all be wowed and entertained by the sea creatures (not as many as in the pictures but there really are a lot)
The cons:more expensive since you not only have to pay to rent the place but also pay to bus your guests in, the shape of the place-it is a really long rectangular shape, you must use Disney's photographers and their other services, the decor they have is not very wedding-like so you'd have to pay for the white table covers that come with many other locations, it is VERY dark
The darkness and the shape of the room is what really made the decision for me. I don't want all of my reception pictures to be that dark and I also thought 60 guests would be way too spread out
I'd recommend visiting it before you book an event there. It's really hard to tell what it looks like from the pictures. I was told that brides either love it or hate it. I really did like it a lot and would definitely consider using it for a welcome dinner if I were having one on property but photography is important to me and I wanted someplace brighter for my reception so I chose Ariel's instead.
If you are looking for something really unique you may also want to consider having the reception inside an attraction. They advertise using the Great Movie Ride a lot but I'm sure there are other ride buildings you can use.

I agree about visiting it. We visited the LSS, ADH and Ariel's last month. We are still debating between the LSS and ADH. I think the Living Seas is nice, but the aquarium isn't the one with the dolphin in it, so it's mostly just smaller fish-still cool but not as cool. The room is very dark, however, the feel is a little more lounge-y which is nice. And the linens, and chairs are fine so you don't need to upgrade. It sucks that you have to pay for Disney transportation, but your guests do get to enter Epcot backstage and go behind the World Showcase to get there...which is pretty cool. We haven't made our decision yet, but hopefully that insight helped a little. Also, I personally think the clear piano is ugly and it cannot be moved-on the good side, the bathrooms are private and beautiful.

you can find some pictures of LSS in my tr. we had our reception there last year and we loved it. during our reception, the scuba divers came and waved to our guests, they loved it!

We had our Reception at Living Seas. With about 32 guest, plus DH and I. We had a sweet heart table, one of the square ones. Then we had 5 tables of 5-6 people, then one table 4 people. I think that is how it was, there were some last min changes.

Anyhow, there were empty tables and it was no big deal. We clustered everyone right above where the dance floor was going to be. Had great views of the windows. It never felt like we were in a huge room for the party size, it felt great. Everyone loved the site and a year later are still talking about the different fish. Its funny.
