Living on the Edge With Reservation Changes

I took two fairly big risks with my reservations over the past few days.

First, I changed our arrival date from July 10 to July 11 so parks were open each day of our visit. The risk was that I made the change Sunday night, about 10 hours before the park reservation system launched. The date change meant moving from the GF to Poly; GF had no studios available. Given Disney's IT woes, I was really worried that this would cause problems the next morning.

Like many, I was unable to access the park pass reservations at first. Luckily, I accessed the page at around 9 a.m., securing park visits for each day.

I was initially unable to reserve parks for our September 11-15 stay at SSR due to the AP limit bug. Disney IT fixed that issue in the wee hours leading into Tuesday. I was able to get park reservation passes for September.

Now, on to risk number two.

We saved some points by switching the July trip to the Poly, so I looked at changing resorts for September. My main worry was that modifying the reservation would cancel the park reservations. Again: Disney IT.

I checked park availability for September; everything was available. I moved us from SSR standard to Kidani savanna view. That went smoothly. Next stop, My Disney Experience. Kidani was already showing, as were the park reservations. Even online checkin carried over from SSR to AKV.

It just goes to show that, at times, Disney's sites work as they should. It's just rare.

Good luck out there, everyone!
