Living in WDW and the Parks: Impossible?

So I'm walking out of MGM late one night during my most recent trip, and I'm wondering to myself if it's possible to survive overnight in the parks. How long could you actually live in WDW? Granted, you'd have to have a source of cash to get you by. But is it a physical impossibility? Many of the resorts have public showers, so that wouldn't be a problem.
But could it be done? If it meant sleeping in the bushes at AK or something, would you do it?

It reminds me of a segment I saw on Good Morning America a few months ago, about a guy who spent his spring break at a Super Walmart.

If I had to sleep in a park, it would be in the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon!

I say it could be done.... you have food, water, and bathroom facilities.... running water is important. I imagine the elements could affect your happiness. It gets very chilly at night in the winter..... and the mosquitos are bad in the spring/fall.

It *definitely can* be done! ::yes:: Oh, yes indeedy. ::yes::

I've thought about it too. There would be so many places you could hide out.

I wonder how many people really have done it, stayed overnight or more somewhere on property? :scratchin

I think it could be done, too! I'm sure you could grab a lounge chair from a resort pool and drag it to some secluded area that isn't overly watched and use it as your bed. Grab some towels or linens off the carts and you have bedding.

Would I do it? Let's put it this way ... roughing it to me is the Red Roof Inn! hahaha! What do you think!?

ETA -- Spill the story, ilovepcot!!!!

Oooooh... what a fantasy!

I'm pretty sure they "sweep" the parks and check them over for any stragglers. I'm sure they are very careful when they do it.

I wonder if someone is in the MK all night like cleaning and stuff? Wonder if that music is playing all night?

Hmmmmmm .....

fun to think about!

HEY that gives me an IDEA....HOW ABOUT A LOCK IN AT THE WORLD????

Now wouldn't that be the BEST ever!!! :thumbsup2

Last year I brought my entire family to WDW. 13 of us at Pop Century. I booked 5 rooms.
My two son's had some kind of falling out, the older one (26) snores and the younger one (22) is a light sleeper.
The younger one went out by the pool with his blanket and found a nice lounge chair to sleep on at about 1 pm.
No one questioned him at all and he woke up refreshed at 9 am when some kids made some noise in the pool.
I have gone to the quiet pools at my DVC sometimes as late as 2 am to do laundry and swim and I have never been questioned or told I couldn't stay there.
So I would think that staying on site at one of the resorts would be easier than trying to stay overnight at a park where they do cleaning and refurbishing in the middle of the night. Peggie

Ya'll need to read "The Kingdom Keepers" ;)

Actually once the park is "all clear" then the BGM (Background Music) is muted. The parks come alive at night with all of the cleaning crews and landscaping crews so it is quite noisy. The streets are hosed down every single night with high pressure hoses. Lanscaping brings in all kinds of equipment - lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, etc... so you can forget the fantasy of a peaceful deserted Magic Kingdom. Not gonna happen!

The work going on "after hours" is quite something to see. Sadly, it takes away *a lot* of the magic after you do. :guilty:

Years ago a good friend and I hid out in the park after closing and wanted to see if we could make it till opening time the next day. (Remember...*years* ago!) We did but we never slept and it was the most *miserable* time we ever had! And all you thought it was gonna be a tale of fun! ;) :teeth:

That's It? Come on! DETAILS! We want DETAILS! What did you do? Did anyone see you? How come so miserable? Just cause you were trying not to get caught?
I'm sorry I don't have a very vivid imagination. :confused3 I need to hear it!

You do realize that they sweep the parks after closing with really big German Shepherds don't you? Last year, they had a special dog thing at DTD. I talked to the security people and got to meet one of the dogs. The main security place where they keep the dogs is behind MK. I've seen a bunch of them there. I don't think I'd want to be in a place I wasn't supposed to be when they came through. Talk about losing the magic!

They actually stop the background music? That's not fair. Now I know I won't be staying overnight...

I remember my sister & I driving our mom nuts when we were little about "What if we could live here?" everytime we went to our local dept store. It's a good thing we didn't know about WDW, or mom would've REALLY gone bonkers! Not that she isn't already...

And I for one, would love to hear a little more about Iloveepcot's overnight, not-so-fun adventure!

have any of you read From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankwheeler?

These two kids live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY City.....
