Hello there everyone! Im new on here, so bear with me!

My name is Stacey and my fiance and I decided to get married in Disney within seconds of him proposing. We absolutely love Disney and have been on holiday there every year we have been together. My fiance's name is Wayne.

Engagement story?
He proposed to me in a special place along the River Thames in London. He told me he was in a meeting at work in the morning and would ring as soon as he left. He knew I was having a lazy day. I got a text from him saying, 'well are you coming to meet me in London or not?', and I text back in shock saying what, why, how and when!? (we live in different towns and he had only just gone home the day before). I tried ringing him and he didnt awnser, and just kept texting me, 'let me know when you get to London Bridge and ill tell you where to go from there'. It was strange but I thought, ok, and put on a pair of dirty jeans, an old tshirt and pulled my unwashed hair back into a ponytail and left the house in a rush with no make up on whatsoever and little change in my pocket that was just enough to get me to him. I was excited and couldnt believe he had travelled back down to London to come and see me. I text him when I got into London and he replied saying only 'meet me in the place where we first kissed'. I had to think where to go because we hadnt been there since we first kissed- and off i went to find him.. Its along the river front on the Thames near the HMS Belfast ship. I sawhim and went upto him and had a kiss and a hug. He seemed a bit wierd but I didnt think anything of it. He had a suitcase so I assumed he was staying with me again for a few days and was happy about that. I suggested we ge the train back home again and he asked if we could sit down for a bit. We walked to the place where we had our first kiss, and sat down. He held me hands and said 'do you know that we had our first kiss here, exactly 1000 days ago?' and he then asked me to marry him, and pulled a ring out of his shirt pocket. I Just broke down crying, (with happiness of course!), and after about 3 minnutes I said the word yes and started crying again. We just sat hugging really tight for about 15 minutes after that. He had asked my father and mother, and all the family knew that he was going to propose to me on that day. I was joking around because I looked a complete mess, and I couldnt believe my family let me out of the house looking like that! Heh! He also gave me some roses, and off we set to go home, and see my family. We had a brilliant evening and had loads of champagne and we was very happy- and started talking about Florida!

Well, we plan to marry in WDW in November 2010 and we know exactly what we want. We are going out to Orlando in March 09 to go and see a planner. We are going to ring them soon (as we cant email-best way of contact and we cant email them!) and ask them if we have to book an appointment to come and see a wedding planner.

We want to go and see locations of the ceremony and reception if possible. We want the cerremony to be at Sea Breeze Point and want the Reception in Calafornian Grill rooms or Living the Seas. We also would love to have a dessert party in epcot for the illuminations display.

Anyone have any advice about going to the wedding planners at 'Franks', or any advice on those that have also had a WDW wedding that live in a different country?

Or any advice about anything would be much appriciated!

(Do you also think its too eatly for me to start looking and trying on dresses? I have 2 dresses in mind- Sencerity 3159 and Hollywood Dreams 'Rochelle'. These are two of my dream dresses and I cant wait to try them on and go and see them!)

Anyways, I will be back on here with more details of the wedding.. and hopefully you all can help me and give me advice!

Stacey =D

Hi stacey!

What a romantic story! Congratulations!! :):)

I'm from the UK too! :)

You can't get your own wedding planner until 8 months before your wedding, but I'm sure someone will be able to meet you for a chat and a look at the locations and stuff on your trip. :)

You'll learn everything you need to know on here about DFTWs! :)

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE DIS FAMILY!!

What a fantastic proposal :goodvibes Wayne sounds great. We're from Birmingham but I know whereabouts the HMS Belfast is. We've had a few weekends in London - I love it there.

I bought my dress a year ago and we are getting married in December this year so I say go for it. I knew exactly the one I wanted so went and got it!

The dresses you mentioned are stunning - I love the Hollywood Collection range. Very glamourous and, well, Hollywood!

I found Disney really helpful, even when I called at over 18 months out to ask a couple of things. You're going to have great fun planning everything and we're a really friendly bunch on here so ask anything you want.

Don't forget to start a Planning Journal and keep us all updated.

Congratulations again

Thanks for the warm welcome! Im so glad that others from UK have got married/getting married in WDW and I can ask you all questions!

I know this may sound silly, but whats a Planning Journal .. I mean, I know what is is, but what do i include in it? Do i make one up from scratch or go by a guide? =P

If there is a guide to go by that i can make my own, could anyone send me one? cheeky i know.

So,

We want so many things and obviously are not rolling in it... we have about £12000 to spend on the wedding (we hope to have included the flights and accomadation in that budget but we know thats not realistic), and it will be tough saving up the 12k- thats just us two saving as we are not sure if our parents will contribute. The thing is, we made one of those wishbooks and the total came to $16,000 - and that would have been an ideal price but with the exchange rate going mental- what seems to be a great bargain at £8k is not so great anymore and we have realised it could be possibly costing us the same amount as we would by having one in the UK.

This may sound too forward, but how are you all doing with your budget, and are you getting what you want from your budget for your wedding? Its just i read that people have gone to the planners with a list of things they want and told them thier budget and the planners have matched it and given them a wedding perfect to thier budget. Is this true?

Ooh ooh its a Wished Wedding too...

I will update this post with a brief summary of what we want in our wedding. How do i find out about all your wedding plans?

Stace x

just wanted to say welcome and congrats.Looking forward to hearing more of your plans....:goodvibes

A PJ is whatever you want it to be!

When I start mine I'm pretty much just going to ahve th first post my engagement story adn then everytime I have new ideas or news or anything add to it!

Have a look at some of the other brides on there and you'll see that they all differ! Lol.

I think you'll struggle having a Wishes wedding for £12k unless the rate gets really good again. The minimums are going up for 2009 and then again for 2010, so you'll be looking at a minimum of $15k before flights and accomodation and clothing stuff - a pain I know! Why I'm keeping my dad sweet!! Lol.

Could be done if you get great deals and can really stick to the $15 though - nice to have a challenge!!

Most of the brides here have linsk to thier Planning Journals in their signatures. I'm refusing to start mine unitl I'm officially engaged (buying the ring tomorrow! eeee.)

oh no where did you hear about the minimums going up? I havent seen the website lately...?

well i suppose if the exchange rate is like 1.45 now, and we wil lhave £12,000 then we would have $17,300? At the moment we havent asked our parents, and we kind of dont want to? Its strange, we dont want to ask and make them feel bad if they cant afford to give us anything towards it, but I suppose they have time to save up! =P. I like your idea of keeping sweet with your dad!

The fiance is really great at finding things at really cheap rates and even finding cheap flights so I suppose that would be a great help. Even if we cant afford to have the money saved up in hard cash then I really wouldnt mind taking out a small loan. But we'd (like most people) try our hardest to save up and not have to take a loan.

We are going to keep an eye on the exchange rate so if it goes up really high then we will buy some dollars (through a dollar account, i think weve been told), and take the opportunity to have more dollars at a good rate. I doubt very much the dollar will go upto $2 to the £1 again but its worth wishing for!

Hehehe! I know its hard but Im going to try my best and not worry about the money side ...

but im just curious to how much other couples have spent on thier weddings and how much its cost them to what they had in thier wedding so I could get some help and compare?

x

There is a thread around somehwere on the board with different brides BEO's on (the final bill)

Might be back a page or two.

I printed out a couple of them so I have something to go by myself. :)

I think I saw the minimums pricing on magicalkingdoms or mouseweddings..

Hiya,

We're having an Escape wedding and including the $4500 for the package our total amount is coming to £9000. If we take out the $4500 it is around £6000.

That includes outside photographer for 5 hours, extra bottle of bubbly, stretch Hummer, floral for the parents, lunch at the GF, my dress, shoes, bag, hair and make up, garment steaming, suit hire, flights and 3 weeks accommodation.

We've kept the costs down by bargain hunting. One massive difference was booking our Disney nights with DVC and Disney.co.uk. Disney.com was hugely different in price to the .co.uk site.

With that site and the DVC we saved well over $1500 so it is worth hunting!

If you want any specific prices let me know - more than happy to share :goodvibes

Both of the last two posts were very helpful. The money situation is something we all want to forget about but its kind of the most important thing! Hehe!

By the way Alex I really like your dress! And good luck Torsie24 with getting your ring tomorrow! (sorry I dont know your name)!

We are thinking about having 40 guests max hopefully. We are also going to try and book all the flights together with Virgin to get a big discount for group bookings. I have found that Virgin is so great, and I wouldnt want to fly with anyone else- also they are very helpful and friendly about your wedding dress and let you take it on with you if its in a dress carrier, not box and they will hang it up in first class for you or in thier private cabins.

Well, I guess its time for us to start pricing up things!

Also ---

Where do we get our hair and make up done on the day? Do Disney have thier own specialists that come to your hotel rooms? Are they decently priced?

x

Welcome and hi from another UK bride! :goodvibes

My wedding is coming in at around £15,000 with disney stuff, dress, bm dresses, flights, villa and spending money. Well everything really. My BEO is on my PJ, there is a link in my sig. :thumbsup2

oh your weddings so close!

i will have a look at your BEO on your pj.

Congrats!!

By the way Alex I really like your dress!

Thank you honey, I absolutely love my dress. I reckon it must have been designed for me!

There are various people that will come to Disney to do hair and make up. Two of the most popular ones seem to be Beaute Speciale http://www.beautespeciale.com/ and Patricia Le Jeune http://www.lejeune-pca.com/index.html

There is also Valencia Salon on Wheels http://www.valenciasalononwheels.com/ and they do in-room massages too. Mmmm, gotta love hot stones :cloud9:

congrats, i'm in essex and we got married last sept in disney it was perfect.

ypu have made a good cghoice

we had the make up people come to our room, it was around $110 for my hair and makeup, they were fantastic ana from beaute speciale.

We had a wishes wedding with 18 of us, my planning a trip report is in my signiture

make sure you get that dress thing from virgin in wirting as I had to pack my mine in a cabin sized bag for them to let me on with it.

It all deoends on the check in staff on the day.

When we went over for our planning session i asked and both the check in staff and baa security said i could carry it on in the dress bag but when i checked in on the day i asked about this and they told me no. Luckily I had already packed it into the case.

Also when i worked for Virgin Atlantic, we had to tell people that we could not guarentee to be able to store the dress in a dress bag as alot of the planes apparently dont have large storage anymore

Hi from another british bride.

We had a wishes wedding with 10 guests. Ana also done our, mine and the bridesmaids, hair and make-up, she is amazing.

I picked out my hollywood dreams wedding dress in April 06, we got married in July 08. We ordered it in September 06 at a bridal show and got a very good discount. It takes them about 8 months to make the hollywood dreams dresses as they are made for you.

Love your proposal story. Have fun planning.

oooh thank you. i will start my PJ today i think (im at work so it'll take me time as i am meant to be working hah!)

what did you manage to find out / do when you went for your planning trip?
Did you only travel over to Disney the one time or did you fit in more trips? we are only planning this one trip in March and the wedding will be 19months away. heh.
