Well, Im back from the MK. What a day! That is somewhat good and somewhat bad.
First off, I got into the park around 2:00 (it's been such a dreary day and I just was moving slowly). My wife stayed back at the hotel due to the threat of rain, so I went on, hoping to get some cool pics and rides with short waits.
At 3:00 I watched the "new" parade. All I can say is, "dont waste your time". Im so disappointed. I liked the Share a Deam Come True Parade, and support change but, my question is, if they were not going to go all out, why change it at all? Im feel that a change like this, is just "un-disney".
Literally the parade is the same as the former one, just without the globes on the floats, and I liked the previous music better.
Anyways, moving on................the park today was DEAD! I dont mean somewhat dead, I mean REALLY dead! The parking lot only had 2 parking lots used that I could see, Minnie was full and Goofy was about 10 rows filled and that's it!
After the parade I went to Tomorrowland and went to Buzz Lightyear. On the way, I noticed that Stitch had NO WAIT. When I got to Buzz, it also had NO WAIT! That's right, no wait at Buzz.
When I got on Buzz LIghtyear I noticed a famous athlete in front of me (in the car in front of me). I am a sports fan and dont miss sports celebrities. Last trip I saw Kenny mayne of ESPN, but back to the ride.
Anyways, the athlete was Detroit Pistons star Rasheed Wallace. He was there with a woman that looked like his wife, and possibly his wife's sister, along with about 4 kids. He had a Disney CM with him (obviously hired or provided by Disney) and he took them on the rides and got him in wi..th no waits. For Buzz, he came in the side door and walked right in front of me to get on the ride. After the ride he went out a special door, which simply went to the public areas outside (I didnt see the point in that).
I got a couple pictures of him which will be posted tonight hopefully. Unfortunately he didn't seem to be a very friendly person. I noticed a couple of people tried to talk to him and he wanted nothing to do with it (it seems as though his public reputation may be reality, unlike many celebrities).
After the ride, he walked to a bench and sat down by himself while his family went on the Astro Orbiter. About 20 minutes later they walked towards the Indy Speedway, and that was the last I saw him.
While on Buzz, the ride broke down and we sat there for 15 minutes. They turned on the house lights and sort of ruined the effect. They had to completely reset the ride, including turning off the power to the ride vehicles.
After this, I went to Space Mountain. Again NO WAIT! Absolutely none! I rode this and when I got out it began to rain (which I knew was a matter of time).
I headed over to Haunted Mansion - againl, No WAit and then I headed over to Splash Mountain with again NO WAIT! In fact, I had my own log, as most people did. It was seriously deserted about now. The rain was now coming pretty heavily and the park was clearing out. I decided around 4:30 to head back to the hotel. So, I packed up and left, drenched and dripping.
Unfortunately if you are wet, the monorail is enough to give you pneumonia. It was freezing!
As has been mentioned, when entering the MK on the monorail the new Jack Sparrow spiel has been included on the monorail in place of where Stitch used to make alot of noise.
By the way, aside from today's dead day, I asked a CM at the ticket counter about the expected attendances this week into the weekend and she said it's pretty dead (Just FYI).
Also just a side note: the Crytal Palace sign was completely boarded up with wood to protect it from a possible heavy storm. Obviously at this point it's mostly rain but, as far as I could see, it was the only obvious sign of storm preparation.
I have LOTS of photos just from today and will be working tonight to place them. So, I'll see you guys tonight, and then, tomorrow is another day! I'll be going early in the morning to the AK for some rides on Everest with complete onride photos throughout the attraction and then later in the day, it's likely back to MK for more rides and fun, this time with my wife.
See you guys tonight when I post some photos!
