Live TR - the 35 night trip!

Loving the Trip Report. We've only been to Vero once, but you are definately planting a seed for us to visit again.

It is actually going really well because there are no distractions here. DH is using the third bedroom as an office and only taking 1day a week off. I've been teasing him because he is so pasty white while the kids and I are tan as can be. He's been working from about 7-7 daily, then eating dinner and doing something w/the kids before bed. I am holding out hope that a completed draft will be done.....

Fantastic! Tell your DH we're rooting for him!

Nice pictures of our Waterfront in Fort Pierce. I hope you get to the Green Market on Saturday morning. Also the Tiki Bar and Cobbs Landing restaurants are great places to eat and watch the Indian River. :cool2:

We've actually eaten at the Tiki Bar twice so far. We really like Ft. Pierce - it seems to have a bit of a more artsy-cool chilled out vibe - kinda reminds me of Chattanooga. We will go back at least once before we leave.

Fantastic! Tell your DH we're rooting for him!

Thanks!!

We're back from 3 wonderful nights at BCV. Those of you that claim BCV as your home resort are very lucky duckies - that place is just incredibly well-managed and maintained. It's a real treat to visit.

We were in room 516 with an amazing balcony and view:

We had a really clear view of MK fireworks too!

We pretty much spent our mornings in the parks, afternoons in the pool, evenings in the park. We used a combo of TIW and the QSDP - ate all our CS meals in the World Showcase :thumbsup2

We did eat at Beaches and Cream - okay, we ate there TWICE:rotfl: No Way Jose is just the best dessert on the planet.

I also had breakfast at Kouzzina twice and it was incredible. I really hope people start eating the breakfast so that it's not discontinued! By far, it was the best breakfast I've had on Disney property. I love breakfast, but I am the only morning person in the family, so I told DH and the kids that I was going to get up for breakfast and I'd take ONE person with me if they woke up, or I'd go alone. It was so cute - both kids wanted to have a special breakfast w/mom.

These are the blueberry orange granola pancakes....Mmmmmmmmm.......you know you want some.............go to Kouzzina................

A few other notes:

We got our room by 10:30am:thumbsup2

Summer Nightastic fireworks are incredible:

SAB is open until 11pm! Such a great pool. They are also allowing noodles now.

Oh - and guess who got picked for Welcome Home Wednesdays? DH!!
I now own the coveted DVC bench on a strap prize!

Also, while we were sitting there, a CM came up to me and handed me a card with a Vero Beach anniversary pin and a note that said "to match your shirt - from DVC". (I was wearing a VB shirt). How cool is that? DVC gave me a VB :cloud9::love: present!

Thanks for following along. :goodvibes

That would be DS with the frozen sunshine. :thumbsup2. Somehow, I managed to give birth to a child that hates chocolate:scared1::laughing::upsidedow, but he loves that frozen sunshine!

I really hope Kouzzina's breakfast starts to get more popular, I'd be so sad if they discontinue it.

Thanks for sharing BCV with us! It definitely ties with AKV as my favorite onsite DVC! :cloud9:

Just popping in to say I'm still very much enjoying your TR. Glad to hear you enjoyed Beach Club too! We're staying there for the first time in January and hoping it will be warm enough to enjoy SAB!

And.......that fireworks picture with Walt and Mickey is.........well just about the best fireworks pic I've seen! I think I even teared up a little! I will so be trying to duplicate it on my next trip!

Thanks so much for sharing and wishing you lots of great memories as you enjoy the rest of your trip!

Am I too old for you to adopt me? I 'm only 48! Your TR reminds me of my childhood. My parents owned a beach house when I was growing up.

!

One of the lifeguards told me that the pool is heated and warm in the winter. :thumbsup2. I am a big baby about getting in a pool - it has to be 90 degrees outside, but my kids would be in it!!:goodvibes

:rotfl: It actually reminds me of my childhood too. Vero is a lot like the Florida I remember growing up in. :cloud9: Except that there are not lots of alligators.

The beach changed a lot while we were at WDW. It had been very calm and clear for most of our trip, but the past two days it's been much rougher and sea weedier. I suspect it has something to do with the moon.

it has also been HOT! We started going to the beach in the evenings as well, when it is nice and cool.

We tried to fly a kite, but alas, it was a FAIL for us. Looked cool though.

There is a lot of turtle nesting right now - 18 nests just in front of Sea Oaks. That's about three a night.

I am trying not to think about going home next week. I am going to miss this sooooooo much.

As someone who has been following along and enjoying your TR.....it seems like it went by FAST! (and I wasn't even there ;)). Enjoy the wind-down of your trip :goodvibes.

ITA about the No WayJose! :worship: And I am so, so glad to hear something good is coming out of the kitchen at Kouzzina! All I ever read is how awful people think it is. I will put breakfast there on my list for October when we're staying at BCV before our cruise- thanks!

This pic of your kids is AWESOME!!!

It feels both like it went by fast and like we've been here forever(in a good way). I'm sad to go back to the city - but we will be back!:cloud9:

This morning we heard that there was a demonstration planned to protest the oil spill and offshore drilling. People were gathering at beaches to join hands at noon. Vero's Hands Across the Sands was at Jaycee park. We went and at noon about 40 people just joined hands and stood silently facing the ocean for 15 minutes.

After that, we ate lunch at the Red Onion, which we kept hearing about. It's a casual sandwich/salad shop and I'm not going to lie...it was really good. I had a lump meat crab roll sandwich. mmmmmmm. DH had the portabello mushroom sandwich. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Around 3, DD and I went to the beach and stayed till around 8. It was nice and comfortable the water, with a cool ocean breeze. Lots more turtle nests - two last night just in the space right in front of our clubhouse.

Lots of shells on the beach and, sadly, a little hatchling that did not make it had washed up. It seemed to have been in the sea awhile. It was neat to see just how little and miraculous the hatchlings are. DD made a little grave and buried it with seashells to mark the spot.

When we stay at the BWV we love to go to Kouzzina's for breakfast!! I love those pancakes, and the press pot is to die for in the morning. Good coffee is hard to find at Disney and that press pot is the best!!

:cool1: ITA - but I will say that the press pot at the Wave is even better, although the rest of the breakfast is lackluster.

Today we returned to Vero Vineyard again -it is such a nice church. We really like it. Afterwards we went to Waldo's at the Driftwood Resort. We loved it! It was really reasonable (50.00 for four adult entrees and one rum runner), the atmosphere was great (oceanfront w/a live band), the service was super-friendly and laid-back. The resort on the historical registry - built by the man that did McKee Jungle Garden in the 1920's. There is a shipwreck visible from the deck. It was just a really neat place to eat.

Afterwards we went to Cravings for ice cream - it was not nearly as good as Boardwalk, but they did have a great cookie selection!

The beach today was much, much calmer and clearer than it has been lately.

I have to say, it has been a month in Vero and we have not been bored at all. This place is heavenly. It really, really is. I had lots of "back up plans" for things to do if we got restless, but we ended up just going to the beach almost every day. If you are following thisvtrip and have not tried DVC at VB - try it!!!!

I've been a little stressed about the logistical nightmare of packing up and driving 9+ hours back home, so after discussing it with DH, we decided to see if we could get a very last minute DVC reservation for our departure night. The drive from Orlando to Atlanta is not bad at all, and that way I could leave here later in the morning and have time to make sure everything is in place.

Well -Surprise! Not only did we get a studio, but we had a choice:woohoo: between AKV savanna view Jambo, AKV standard view Kidani, SSR, and.....BLT.

We picked BLT for the park access. :goodvibes Hooray! :cool1:
