Live Report from the Beach Club

Glad to hear it's so nice. DD24 is interning at WDW this year and booked us at the BC Aug4-11. Got a great rate with her discount. Can't wait to see her and be around the magic again.

Pam, I'm so glad that you are having such a wonderful time. You certainly have a positive attitude despite the heat and crowds!

I grew up in Kernersville, not far from W-S & Mocksville. Have fun because it's hot here too.

Tell Uncle Albert HEY! :wave2: There have been reports of burping in B flat heard coming from the BC. The CMs are looking into the complaints!

Let us know how EMH works for you or if you avoid it at all costs.

Lori

Hi there! Oh no - the burps have been heard.

I'll try to remember the questions and provide some answers.

The marketplace is great - they have brewed coffee, sandiwches, gelatto, pastries....very nice!

The new rooms are MUCH BETTER. I'd call it a total rehab from the wallpaper to the bedspread and carpet. New furniture too. Very fresh and airy. Don't let the pics from Allears.net scare you. I saw minimal exterior renovations on the YC, waterviewe side. Looked like roof repairs. We just got back from Stormalong Bay. Not crowded at all.

The 4th Fireworks at Epcot were out of this world!!!!!

I think that's all the ?'s. We'll check in later.

PamNC & Uncle Albert

P.S. Uncle Albert burped the words World Showcase!

Oh... yes, we can see the Fireworks from the room. But trees block some of the view.

EMH is OK. If you use "the force" and avoid what you know is going to be crazy. Like RR at MGM when Fantasmic is letting out.

 Jennasis

Pam, I'm glad you're having such a wonderful trip. I'll have to remember to use "the force."

Lots of thunder and lightning here in Greensboro tonight. My DD8's swim meet was called off early. I'm sure your barn yard of animals miss you both.

Glad to hear the renovations look good!

May the force be with you!

Hey Pam How is SAB?? Are the crowds any smaller since the 4th is past?

glad to hear you're having a good time! i just have a question that maybe anyone can answer for me. we will be heading down to the bcv in a few weeks. do you need id for each person for the pool (all 3 kids & 3 adults)?? we usually travel light when heading to the pool (with 3 small kids, the less to keep track of the better  ).....towels, toys & 1 room key. also do they have any type of rafts/inner tubes for the pool, or can you bring your own?

thanks for help! :earboy2:

pam

Pam, We will be staying at the BCV in October and I am wondering what kind of "staples" the Marketplace carries. I would be looking for juice, soda, water, beer, wine and cheese/snacks. Did you notice if they have these kind of items.
Thanks for your help

We're still having a blast. I'll try to answer more questions.

I can't believe someone else is actually from Mocksville - Hi Jennasis!! Room 4598 is wonderful for a couple w/o kids...very private. When we made our ressie we requested non-smoking and a room with a patio or full balcony. Then 3 days prior we faxed a request and reiterated how important a patio or full balcony and a nice view of something other than a parking lot or roof was to us. That's how we lucked up with this room I suppose. yes, we can see Illuminations from the balcony...there are some trees in the way though.

The marketplace has lots of staples - like juice, milk, soda, cereal, all the snacks you could imagine.

YES INDEED - the crowds at SAB and the parks have gone way down since the 4th has passed. We really haven't been bothered by the crowds the whole trip except on the 4th...but it wasn't as bad as I thought. We saw Illuminations on the 4th...they had a very special show. It was packed. with people, but surprisingly it wasn't hard to leave when it was over. They really pulled out all the stops for the 4th.

They are checking everyone's ID at SAB and yes, if they check every single person in your group. Not sure about bringing your own floats, but some people did bring their own noodles. They are small though, not sure what the rule is. I'll try to find out.

We did not order a kitchen sink BUT for dinner one night we had a No Way Jose which is fabulous. Peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, peanut butter and chocolate morsels, hot fudge and whipped cream. Only on vacation does one have ice cream for dinner. Yummmmy.

3 more days for us - I'm trying not to think about it being over. It goes by so fast. We're getting ready to head over to Boatwright's for breakfast because I want to compare it to tonga Toast. Then we're going to DTD for some shopping and maybe a movie. Then a swim at SAB and then tonight it's Epcot Extra magic Hours so that's where we'll be.

Feel free to ask more questions.

PamNC

I leave in 6 days. I have wanted to try the banana stuffed french toast. Let me know how it is and how it compares to Tonga toast. I haven't tried either but I am going to try to sample both this trip.
Thanks!

PamNC,

Thanks for the reports. I'm from Greensboro and will be at the Yacht Club in 33 days. I'm glad to hear the crowds at SAB aren't too bad. We are really looking forward to some good pool time in August.

I hope you continue to have a good trip.

I also want to say hello to all the other Triad NC WDW fans.

Thank you for the great reports!

Seems like I read on a previous post that they sell noodles at the hotel for SAB. Did you see any for sale? If so, how big are they?

65 days and counting...... :flower:

WOW - so many Triad Disers! We should have a DIS meet.

The banana stuffed french toast is fabulous. Similar to Tonga toast, but instead of sourdough bread it's Texas Toast. It comes with a strawberry banana sauce. My DH, a.k.a. Uncle Albert, got sweet potato pancakes and they were excellent. We got grits as a side. The service was great - I'd give Boatwright's a big thumbs up for breakfast. After we ate, we strolled around Dixie Landings, I mean PO Riverside. Then we went shopping at DTD. Now we're just cooling off and heading for Stormalong Bay.

I didn't see noodles for sale, no. There is a pool gift shop though, I'll check and see.

See, I mean write ya'll a little later.

PamNC

P.S. My feet and hips hurt - and uncle albert's ankles are swollen. This from two people who work out regularly. We can't hang like we use to.

PamNC

Pam,

I know what you mean about "Dixie Landings", that's what I call it too ;) .

Sounds like a wonderful trip.

Anna

Thanks for all the updates! We leave for a BC/Poly split stay a week from today and I'm soooooooooooo excited!

Pam wish I was there. Too funny about all the triad diser's. I'm in Charlotte but I'm from High Point and my mom still lives in Winston . It's a small world after all!!

Thanks for the live report from the Beach Club, it sounds like you all are having a blast!

Only 63 more days and we will be at the Beach Club Villas(my first time), we can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pam,

Im glad you enjoyed Boatwrights. I usually stay there and love it. We were supposed to stay there this summer but we just changed to the Beach Club!
thanks for your reports! Can't wait to see for myself! :Pinkbounc

I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

Pam, be glad you are in Orlando. We've had major gully washers this afternoon and evening. Part of W-S is without power because of downed trees. It appears to have cleared out now.

Wendy, I'm glad to see that you are still going to the YC. I hope your pregnancy is going well!

We do need to meet. Bob NC is from Kernersville.

See ya,

Lori

I have always wondered what the firworks on the 4th of July would be like at WDW. Thanks for the updates. Sounds like you are having a great time. :)
