I would like a DVC video but Disney can not send one since we live here.

http://dvc.disney.go.com/disneyvacationclub/requestinfo/requestinfoindex?id=RequestInformation

Where can i get one? and could i buy a resale from say the time share store? we just got back from a ftp at wilderness lodge and talked to a dvc sales guy but this was the last day we were there so no enough time to make a sale. I would also like a purchase @ vwl since it was so us! what is the time remaining on the VWL villas? and what is a good price? totally newbie here so forgive me

DVC is not yet cleared for sales of SSR in CA. If you know someone in a state that is already registered, you could have them get the information for you, but Disney still could not sell to you unless you were onsite to sign the documents.

You will have no problems purchasing resale from CA- and that's the only way to purchase at VWL anyway. DVC currently has only SSR available for sales to new members.

Good Luck!

We've viewed the videos and I have to tell you, you will learn more about DVC by looking at the DVC FAQ's at the top of this page, then coming back here and posting questions. At least you will be able to find out a lot of details before you get to the point of talking to a guide.

I learned about DVC here, and by the time I talked to my guide, the only question really was...."how many points?". :)

And if you VWL is really the place you love, then for sure that's where you should buy. Especially if you plan to vacation at Christmastime at some points in the future....those can be tough reservations to get without the 11 month booking advantage of the home resort.

We own at VWL (through Disney) and BWV (through resale). Both were easy to do, and in Disney's eyes I'm not treated any differently at all with one contract vs the other.

Good luck!:)

So If i wanted i could buy resale fine no problems through someone like "the timeshare" while living here in california? and how many years are usally remaining on these VWL properties? or shouls we say what was the original contrct for? 30 years 10years 50?. i know that what they are selling now is the new properties for 50 years.

to save money and also being a an owner of my own company with any days off i want ...would it be smarter to buy a resale at a lower price say @ $65 a point then saving the points to use the 7month window to book in the value season time @ VWL since we always hate the crowds and would never go during peak seasons anyway. or should we just spend the extra money and buy the VWL @ $72 a point as our home

SSR has an end date of January 31, 2054- regardless when the purchase is made.

All other DVC resorts (OKW, VB, HH, BW, VWL and BCV) end on January 31, 2042- regardless when the purchase is made and regardless if it was purchased directly thru Disney or by resale.

We actually have an extra since DVC mailed us one plus gave us one when we joined. If you'll cover postage, it's yours.

Just to let you know, DVC will talk to you about all the resorts except SSR. YOU can get assigned to rep. to help you through the process. We were sent a video too except there was no information on SSR. So, I'd call back and ask to talk to a rep so, that you can at least get basic information. Good Luck! P.S. I live in California too... Eventually, SSR will get registered with CA and the Disney will be able to talk to you on the phone. Apparently, this is a CA issue not a Disney issue.

If you love VWL, I'd buy there. That's our favorite resort and I'm so glad we bought most of our points there. If Disney ever limited our contract to just stay where we bought (which they could by the way - not likely, but it is in the paperwork if I remember correctly) I would be happy to just stay at the lodge. We have 200 at the VWL and 85 at BCV.

Most people on the boards say that $72 a point is what VWL resales go for if you don't want them bought back by Disney. Of course, I'm sure a realtor could guide you on this. I would look for a contract with current year points intact. Here's a list of DVC resale sites:

Good luck. Let us know how things go for you.

Many people here would counsel you to buy where you want to stay, myself included.

Plus, the slow seasons for WDW are often the peak seasons for DVCers so the rooms become harder to get. Like the beginning of Dec, during Oct etc. because the points are lower and there are special events during those season. Yes, WDW overall will still be less crowded, but that doesn't mean that your choice of DVC resorts won't be hard to get at 7 months. Certainly BCV and VWL are the iffy ones.

If you do decide to buy the lower price points and try the 7 month window, just resign yourself to the risk and don't be surprised if it's more difficult to get what you want than you thought it would be.

Even though they'll try to talk you out of it, you should ask a guide about buying at VWL. We bought our initial 150 points at VWL in March of 2003. Yes, that's right, last March. Even though they said it wasn't possible. I think this is what they do with all those ROFR properties.

Anyway, we're not sorry we bought there. It is the best resort for us, too.

. . . but if they sold DVC at Fort Wilderness, we'd stay there too.
