Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

I was really enjoying this thread up until I heard what happened on CC. How sad. Prayers for the family and friends.

Posted to the other thread (Cruisetoberfest IV) but I'm going to post it here as well for emphasis.

Guys, I'm going to say two things here, and we'll leave it at that.

1. We did loose a disboarder yesterday at Serenity Bay. While I (and several other disboarders) assisted in the resuscitation, we (all who were present) agreed that this is not our news to share. It is a tragedy, and while I and others present can speculate on the cause, none of us feel that this should be announced on this board by any of us. The person also has several other friends and family members who were travelling with them (some still on board) and if *THEY* wish to share what happened, it is their right to do so. Until then, I think we should leave this as "We lost a disboarder, it was a tragedy, it has touched the disboard community on this ship *VERY* deeply, and keep the family and friends in your prayers".

2. As I stated above, there are many other disboarders besides myself who were VERY attached to this tragedy in various ways. Do not PM people on this board, or e-mail people on this board looking for information. You will not get it. This information will either come from the family to this community (and the family is part of the community) or it will not come out at all.

Hi everyone,

This is so much fun!!!!! After all the anticipation! I must say, what a group. We have surprises at our door daily from our fellow DIS'ers. They are all a special group and I certainly hope to be able to meet them all to give them a big THANK YOU for making this cruise special. They worked very hard. I wish I would have had the time to keep up with everything that was going on.

A few celebs on here. Joey from NSYNC is on with his family and a Senior VP from DCL is on. We will be on the look out for others.

A little overcast today but the sun will shine!!!!!

:cool1: :cool1:

Jeff, thank you for your post. I was just looking for this thread so that I could post this...

While we all want more information and are saddened by the loss, keep in mind that the other DISers still on this cruise are on a vacation they have been planning and dreaming of for more than a year. Let's let them report on the excitement they are having, and save our condolences for a more appropriate thread at a more appropriate time.

So how is the first day at sea???!!! :flower: Hope you all are having a great time! How was the progression of cabins? Sounds like a very neat idea to see more cabins that I may never be in ;)

The Magic HAS SAILED THESE WATERS BEFORE!!!! Where were you? On the 10 day Christmas Cruise we came the exact same route after leaving Key West. We will be sailing in the same waters until approximately 7 p.m. tonight. When we get to the east point of Cuba we will then head into a new direction towards Curacao and at that point we will be in NEW WATERS that the Magic has never sailed before! Had a great view of Cuba back in December. Can't wait to see it later today!

How awful! Our thoughts and prayers are with the family who lost their loved one. Such a tragedy. I hope Disney handled the situation as delicately as possible with the family. I'm sure they did.

:grouphug: to all involved.

Are you going to make an unexpected stop in Cuba

Hello to everyone! I've been way to busy to wait for these slow computers to load, and there is NO way I am going to read through this thread now. ( you guys sure have been busy) We are having a wonderful time, just passing Cuba now.

A few hints to the August cruisers, and of course I will post in depth when I return home to my fast computer.

1) If you want a T-shirt or ANY of the special Panama merchandise, go as soon as the shop opens on day 1!!!!. I went the first night after dinner, and there were only about 20 size small left! Apparently people were buying them in 20-30 at a clip. Needless to say, no T-shirts for me.

2) The pin voucher thing is a joke! 2 hours in line, and they are starting earlier than posted everyday. Today they were giving vouchers at 8:00am, and selling them at 10:00 for something that is to go on sale at 10:30. I have though so far gotten all that have released. There is now talk that they are going to just sell the whole lot at one time (thank goodness!) So, you guys might be lucky in that respect.

Okay, off to have more fun in the sun! (sorry if this has already been covered)

So have you ever walked by the Mickey pool and only seen 10 kids in the pool and about 50 empty chairs at 10:45 a.m.?

It is amazing!

This morning I went to the spa for my ocean wrap at 8 a.m. so I could be out in time for the "voucher" at 10:30. DH was to go up about 9:30 and get in line. Well, as I am laying in the buff, my gal comes in and says DH called and says that DCL is handing out vouchers "right now" and i better get down to deck 3. Well I just ignored him and figured I am not going to let any "PIN" ruin my spa time. He called about 30 minutes later and said no worries, they took care of us.

Guess the 10:30 pin line started at 6 or so this morning, so DCL in their most utmost "wisdom" decided to hand out vouchers early. Since today is the release of the only pin with 1000 in the release, it was easier to accomodate but by 10:30 the vouchers were all gone. Wonder how they are doing in the Up Beat right now since it is 11 a.m. and the navigators says pin release 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.? The guests ARE NOT HAPPY about standing in pin lines the whole cruise and every single one of us has complained more than once about it.

In fact, in the internet cafe last night, every person who came in while I was on the boards was talking about the pin fiasco. In fact, someone is talking right now about having lost their "voucher" yesterday and didn't get the pin at all!

For the rest of the day there is plenty going on:

In 15 minutes there is the premiere of the Live "Good Morning Disney Magic" show from the atrium.
Then Murder Mystery at Sea is at 11:30 am called "Dark Waters" and has 3 days of clues and fun (guests 18 and older)
Then art auction at 1 p.m.
Navigator series of the making of the Magic at 1:30 p.m.
Taylor Mason doing ventriloquism workshop.
Panama Canal historian Willie Friar is educating us about the Panama Canal as we speak (oop's---I'm missing it)
Captain Welcome Reception this evening
Wine Tasting hosted by Dreams Unlimited at 4:30 p.m.
Golden Mickey night tonight.
I think that covers it.

Okay-that's about it!

Linda

I'm not a pin person but I just have to ask a question about the pins. Do you mean you stand in line for a voucher that gives you the ability to buy a pin and THEN you stand in line to buy a pin? Ugh. Also regarding the shirts, were they really inexpensive? Is that why so many people are buying them up so quickly?

Yes, stand in line to get a voucher, once you have the voucher you can go back any time up till 10:00 to purchase it the same day. That line is somewhat short. The t-shirts are the $22.00 range, it looks like the "hubcap" design. My feeling is you will soon see all of these put up on ebay! :sad2:

Bye Bye!

Robin

I agree that the tshirts will end up on Ebay for $40 plus. :( Maybe DCL will realize the demand on the ship & have enough for the August return trip...we can hope right? It sounds like you are going to have a very busy day. Standing in line for so long wouldn't be my DH's idea of a vacation either. At least they are limiting that though or there wouldn't be a chance of many people getting them. Good luck in the pin quest. Can't wait to hear your report on the Live morning show & the Murder mystery fun. Sounds like a blast!!!

Hi Jeff,
I posted prior my condolences to those affected by this, and I'm so sorry to even imagine this happening. I certainly respect the families privacy.

Try to remember what it is like being back here and reading updates. When someone announces that a DISer has passed away (and on Castaway Cay no less) those that are here reading about it are saddened and scared that it may be someone that they know. Natural curiosity and worry will take over and you want to know that your friends are all okay.

I am sure no one wants speculation on what happened, but to announce that someone has passed and then to say we are not giving any details at all is not (in my opinion) a good way to handle this. I am sure everyone involved in this is extrememly saddened and deeply affected in many ways. Please try to remember how hard it is on those of us back home who have not heard anything and do not know if this was someone we knew.

But on with the cruise--
I want to thank Peter and Jenn for starting this thread and want to hear more about the daily activities going on (anything special that DCL is doing for you and such.) How fun to be on the Magic for 14 days!!! AND so few children on board, it must be so quiet (although I know some adults that can cause more of a ruckus than a child!!!)
Have fund and enjoy the rest of your cruise.
Sue Ellen

Glad to hear that the Westbounder's are having fun.

My thoughts are with the family that lost a member :grouphug:

I guess we will be a Mickeys Mates at 6:00 pm - as soon as they open...

Hopefully DCL will learn from the PIN mess -- for ours. I wouldn't mind standing on line once - to get a voucher for all the pins -- and paying for them later that day. Sounds a little bit more reasonable. Getting up at 6:00 AM to stand in line for a voucher doesn't sound like a fun way to spend your day.

Keeping fingers crossed -that we will be able to post a Live from the Magic for the August Repo cruise.

P.S. Can anyone find out how many children are scheduled to be onboard for the August Repo -- I know a while back they were saying 750 or so...but that could change.

Thanks!!! :flower:

300 children?? WOW! The silence must be deafening. It may sound attractive to some, but I think my DD7 and DS15 might get bored. Or, since the counselors would have less to concern themselves with, they might get alot more attention.

Anyone onboard, with kids, care to comment?
