Hello from the 3/13 Magic. We are at sea today, on our way to Grand Cayman. Our group is me and DH (both 45), DS(16), and DS(13). This is our third cruise (one 4-day, one Eastern, and now Western)

(I don't know if this should be in Cruise Reports - feel free to move me!)

We were all zonked from flying in so late the night before that we didn't hurry to the port on Saturday morning. We boarded around 1 p.m. and went up to Topsiders. It was very busy, but easy enough to find a table because people were already leaving. DH and I went to Quiet Cove, and the boys disappeared (you won't hear much about them - we never see them!) I finally remembered at 3p.m. that we wanted ressies for Palo for Brunch on Monday. DH went and they said they were booked up, but to come back after dinner because they would most likely have room then. I had my doubts, but they were right and we booked for 11 a.m. (the time we wanted).

BTW, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Oceanside, in one of their KidSuites. I thought at the time it was a good idea for the boys to have their own beds - they have bunk beds for the kids - but it turned out that the beds were too short for DS16. I was not very impressed with the hotel. We stayed at the Radisson last time, from what I've heard I'll try Ron Jon's next time.

Our servers are Leeroy and Daniela - very friendly and efficient. In the past DH and I have ordered wine by the glass with dinner (we are not big drinkers) but this time we decided that we would order a bottle because they will keep it for you from one night to the next. The problem with that is that they keep filling up your glass! We just had a little bit left in the bottle when we were done, and "did we want to keep just that little bit"? DH is more assertive than I am and said yes! Last night we didn't feel so pressured and just had about 1 1/2 glasses each. Dinner was at Animator's Palate. Both 7 day cruises we have had late seating (by request) and have had the LAP rotation.

Key West was wonderful. We walked up Duval St. with the boys but then they went back to the ship (how do they make friends so fast??) and DH and I did part of the walking tour. What beautiful houses. We sat and had drinks and some Conch fritters at a bar called Kelly's - just a block off Duval St. but a world away. It has a lovely outdoor patio - it was great for families too.

This morning we went down to Quiet Cove at 9 a.m. and were disappointed to find no one there but that almost all the seats were "taken". DH and I took the last 2. When we left at 10:45 there were people in only about 1/3 of the seats.

Oh yes, the best thing that has happened to the ship since we were last on it - the Cove Cafe! It is where Common Grounds used to be. It opens onto Quiet Cove and the Goofy pool, and you can get good coffee, lattes, etc! DH is addicted so this has just put the cherry on top of an already great vacation.

Tonight is formal night so I have to go get gussied up. I'm looking forward to seeing the Golden Mickeys - the new show aboard ship. If you have any questions please ask - I'll try to answer soon!

Thank you SO much for the "Live" report. I hope that they don't move it (I'll probably never find it if they do.) Hope you'll save and share your "navigators" (for grown-ups and the 4 year old set if possible), since we sail on the western next month!
Keep up the great report!

Marion,
If your server is Daniela from Romania please tell her that the "coke family" from table 72 says hello! We just got off from the 3/6-3/13 Eastern. She was awesome...she had our sodas waiting for us as soon as we sat down each night!

Enjoy your cruise and keep us updated if you can....

Happy sailing!

Great report. Thanks for posting. We will be on the western next month. Is the ship rocking at all?

Can't wait to read more!

Thx for the updates! Great insights!!

Ask Leeroy to show you the magic trick with the plate, the glass and the coin! He was our assistant server in 2002 and we were thrilled to find he had been made a server when we cruised last October, although sadly we did not have him.

Is Miguel still in the Cove Cafe? He was there when we were there in October and was just great.

Thanks for the live posts...how fun! We leave on the Western 27 Mar very soon. Can't wait!
HAVE FUN!!
