Sunday 28.3.04......

EPCOT today....yippee! First we had a nice lazy morning, chilling in the pool. Guess what we had for breakfast? Krispy kreme doughnut holes!mmmmmmmmmmmm

Lovely swim and just got up slowly and left for EPCOT about midday. The plan was to leave for a while in the afternoon to try a kitchen sink and then stay for Illuminations.

Mum & Dad have a terrible sense of direction and managed to gte a bit lost on the way but we soon all met up and helped put the ECV together for Mum. In to EPCOT, theres no queue for the entrance which is nice and hte park seems fairly quiet really. We leave Mum & dad and the others by SPaceship earth and we 3 rush over to Mission Space which we are all desperate to do fort he first time Arrange to meet at International Gateway at 3 pm.

The sign tells us its an hour waut for the ride but we have got fast passes for Test track so have to queue for this. I keep reading the warnings for motion sickness and claustrophobia but decide it cant be that bad! Its really exciting looking around the themeing. I love anything to do with space so it really appeals. Becky isnt too sure but we assure her its not a coaster and doesnt actually go upside down!

After just 30 minutes we're off! Becky is Commander, Mark the pilot, I'm engineer (oh dear!) and some other guy is our naviagtor. We're all told we have certain jobs to do but we're too busy looking around to really listen. We sit inside the small pod, bring down the shoulder restraint and then gary Sinise (mmmmmmmm) is telling us all about our mission to Mars. Then we're off! OMG!!!!!!!!

OK, I DO get motion sickness then! I cant describe this ride, it really feels like youre being launched off the earth, blasting thru space and then landing on Mars. The sight of the sick bags in front of me didnt help and I came off looking very green Im told (theyre still laughing about it now) its a fantastic ride, brilliantly clever and I managed to do my engineers job ok........would I do it again? NO WAY!!!! Glad I did it but couldnt trust myself not to throw up next time.

I was pleased (!) to see a very macho young guy looking worse than me outside btw!

We wandered around and sat in the UK for a long time with a cool drink after that, Im afraid I was no good for anything for an hour or so.....and I knew we had the kitchen sink still to come!

Met up with the others while I was watching Sleeping Beauty give out autographs, I really wanted one but felt a bit silly!

Walked roundto the Beach Club which was a very pleasant walk from International Gateway. Had a 20 minute wait for Beaches & Cream and we were all starving by then. Becky and I shared a hot dog as we didnt want to spoil our appetite (see I felt better now). Then we ordered our Kitchen sink. My Dad is a massive ice cream fan and has heard so much about this but he couldnt believe we were only ordering 1 between the 8 of us!

......then we saw it coming! Everyone clapped and cheered and Jamie's eyes nearly poped out when he saw the size of it. It was a free for all eating it, but I managed to get plenty of chocolate ice cream and snickers sauce on my side...yum! Mint choc chip, strawberry, vanilla & coffee ice creams, a ton of cream & cherries, bananas, oranges, strawberries, oreo cookies, sponge cakes, mars bars nuts and sauces are all included!!! So glad we had this after the ride!!!!!!

The table near us watched us devour it but we were in great respect of a couple on the next table who ate one to themselves!!!..and finished it!

Then it was back to EPCOT (we rolled back)...Becky had a quick go on Mum's ECV and nearly ran us over.........and we all split up again. We wandered around the world popping into all the shops and people watching as we always do. Mark bought me a chinese necklace with my birth sign on it....ok its an Ox but it is lovely! Becky and i mooned over all the Hello Kitty things and I bought a fan with my name written in japanese.

On to Norway where we have to do Maelstrom as its kind of a tradtion even though its pretty lame now. Outside we saw Mum & dad who had grabbed a bench right by the lakeside so we settled there, between Mexico and Norway. Wed hoped to sit in Mexico to watch the fireworks but it was packed, the whole park was busy now. Sadly I couldnt drink as I was driving so no margeritas for me!!! Sacrilege!

We went off and got drinks, looked at sights etc until it was nearly time for the show. A crowd of young american teenagers settled in front of us and I have to say they were the most obnoxious bunch Ive ever come across! Are they actually unable to talk in a normal volume?? They were playing games while waiting which involved them running round the circle as afast as possible and the time they bumped into Mum I cant say! The worst thing was they had 4 adults with them that just looked on smiling! No amount of words from us, or evil looks from Becky & Mark could stop them. Oh well.......

Becky & Mark went off to do TT and loved it as usual, wished it was longer though.

Then came the moment id waited for, the lights went down, the music starts.....ACTION! If youve never seen the fireworks here you really must, and if you hvae already you know what I mean. Magical memories, those lights and lasers, pretty sparkles and all......love it! Saddest thing was Jamie fell asleep before it started and slept all thru it! Poor little man, he was exhausted.

Then it was time to fight our way out thru the crowds, find the car and find our way back home.

Oh yes, almost forgot....we stopped at taco Bell on the way home for some grub! Very cheap but fab food! Burritos, nachos, quesadillas and mexican pizzas....mmmmmmmmmmmm Not quite EPCOTS cafe San Angel but good anyway......

Had a late night..wow must be getting used to the time at last!

Tomorrow its Sea World and a second try for Red Lobster

Night night.......

:wave2:

OK, so if I was ever the teeniest bit tempted to ride Mission: Space (which I wasn't :p ), you've put paid to that!

I love all the Hello Kitty stuff at Mitsukoshi! I think I spent about an hour looking at it last time. There are quite a few stores which sell it, too, including a dedicated Sanrio store at Mall at Millenia. Matt suffers in silence. I think he thinks I'm crazy, but he's too sweet to say so.

Great day at EPCOT, we need pictures of you all and the Kitchen Sink :)

Kitchen Sink pic will be posted in due course....the before & after!!!!:)

Deb, don't do Mission Space.....its very clever but awful!

Reading reports of Epcot never fail to give me bad withdrawal symptoms.

I have to smile reading Mission Space reports - I know my limits and this attraction would most definitely exceed them, so whilst DH & DS rode, I sat on the wall of a garden bed not far from the exit and ate a Danish. It was pure torture to some of the guests coming out of the ride....... great fun for me :teeth:

Great day at Epcot, I love Illuminations - I got very tearful when I saw them in January but then I'm a soppy so and so :p I haven't fancied doing Mission Space as I really suffer with motion sickness - I threw up the last time I rode Spiderman at Universal  so I definitely won't do it now :D
