Epcot itinerary in summer for seniors (best way to go from one air conditioned building to another?)

That would mean going to a park that closes before the sun sets.

I forgot that DAK closes at 6pm...we were there from 4pm to closing in April, on a ninety degree day, and while it was bearable, it was not pleasant.

I didn't see anyone mention, but pretty sure the movies in Canada and China are standing only, so not good for napping unless he can do it standing up. I haven't gone to either in years, it could have changed?

Hmm...I must remember to tell my dad to practice his standing and napping skills hahaha

Jokes aside, thank you for mentioning this, I did not realize. My dad is a champ at sitting on a bench in a mall and taking a snooze while my mom shops but standing while napping might be beyond his skill level

We still joke about that being the trip when we didn't need to bring any clothes because we washed every night!

It's not always that bad, but it can be, so if there are any doubts, maybe don't buy park tickets until a week or less from your visit, when the weather forecast is a little more certain.

This is a great idea, thank you for the suggestion. I don't think LL makes sense for them so they could wait until the last minute to decide if they want to go or not.

We took a bus over to Jambo House and sat in the lobby and watched the animals. The lobby is fantastic and a great place to sit and relax or nap! We ended up resort hopping instead of theme park visits. It was great to see the resorts and hide from the heat.

Visiting animal kingdom lodge is exactly what I have planned one morning to see some animals but still have quick access to air conditioning! It seems like the best of both worlds

Since your parents haven't been in 30 years, not only have they never experienced DAK, they haven't seen about half of DHS. Maybe they'd like to choose the park or parks they want to go to themselves, assuming they're capable of such a decision.

I considered hollywood studios for them too, as part of the 3 park/3 day ticket, but they're not familiar with star wars or toy story. I realized, rather belatedly, that magic kingdom may be a good fit for them...I'll lob that idea to my mom too.

There’s no festival during the summer at Epcot. Food and Wine doesn’t start until late July. You could go in and out of stores at DS for free instead spending $150 for a one day ticket to Epcot. MK would have more things for them to do- Small World, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, Country Bears, Jungle Cruise, Railroad, Little Mermaid, Philarmagic .

MK has more air conditioned buildings i.e. shops scattered throughout, too.

Not exactly clear why you would choose to go to Disney in July and not plan to do any parks. Do you mostly sit at the pool or shop during the day? July/August would NOT be my preference for Disney as it is way too hot/humid that time of year to walk around any of the parks. Doubt your parents will enjoy that and Epcot involves LOTS of walking as the various countries are fairly spread out.

The way this whole trip unfolded was on a whim...I got tired of hearing my neighbors be loud and drunk over memorial day weekend and started dreading the neighborhood parties that happen over July 4th weekend. It's fireworks until 2am for days, with drunk yelling in between. It's miserable. We left town one year and it was much more restful.

It's crazy but 5 nights at AoA in July was cheaper than going to the beach in my home state. And my understanding is that disney has an excellent mosquito control program whereas we are currently being eaten alive at home, despite spraying. And yes, it's hot, but it's also hot at home, with similar humidity as Orlando, and it's not unusual for us to be at the playground when it's ninety degree anyways. So my plan is to do some resort hopping, try out some restaurants, play outside a bit, and then take quick breaks in the air conditioning.

But walking around in world showcase with oodles of concrete...agreed that is a better endeavor for cooler months
