Monday 29.3.04....

We've decided to do Sea World today as its usually a fairly relaxing day, and my parents and Stu & Jamie have never been. Becky likes it here so I know she'll get up for it too!

The early birds among us manage to have a good swim first thing of course while we wait for the snails to dress We patiently explain the route to everyone, not holding out much hope that my parents will find it first try......They set off first followed a while later by the rest of us. We seem to be taking 3 cars everywhere as we're never sure if everyone will want to leave at the smae time. Also, Mum's ECV takes up lots more room in the car than we expected.

Traffic on the 192 is awful at 10 am and it takes a while to reach the park, although we all seem to get there without any mishaps Dad is in the queue already so gets all our tickets. They're much more expensive than I remembered, even with a AAA discount. Around $50 each.

Journey to Atlantis first! Mum really wants to try this but we're unsure she'll manage it so Mark, Becky, rebecca & I go first. Glad we did as she'd never have got in or out the vehicle, and wouldnt have liked the coaster part.....or indeed managed the steps afterwards! Shame.....ANyway we loved it and got pretty soaked

First stop after is always the rays. Mark buys little fish to feed them with and he & becky feed the funny things....wow they're pretty ugly! (the fish not Mark & becky!) Poor rays dont seem to like the taste of Marks sun cream though and spit their fish out! LOL

Then its off to our favourite bit at Dolphin Cove. We stay for ages patiently waiting to pat the dolphins but sadly nver quite make it. Its not helped by the people near us constantly slapping the water........they obviously dont realise this frightens them rather than encourages them!!!

Then we all split up and arrange to meet outside the Shamu stadium at 2 for the 2.30 show. We're off to find food (now that makes a change) and I fancy trying the new waterfront area. Its a lovely area, nicely themed with cafe's and shops by the lake. Becky has a small strop as she cant see anything she likes to eat....chicken? (no we always have that)....burger? (ugh)....hot dog? (had that yesteday)....grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Anyway in the end we try the wood smoked pizza place and she has a chicken caesar wrap while Mark & I have pizza and jacket fries...yum! We take a look in the shops.........big mistake as Becky sees some porcelain dolls you can make up yourself....at a mere $60!!! She nags about them all day (yes I know shes 16!) Is this really my Goth daughter? Im almost inclined to buy her one but managed to resist.

After lunch we wander (we do a lot of this on holiday!) around the lake and then becky decided as she didnt eat all her lunch she could eat cake too so we detour into the bakery and buy more drinks and a cinnamon whirl for becky. Bit of people watching then over the bridge across the lake to Shamu stadium.

We hang around outside but then go in to get good seats (NOT in the splash zone, done that before) and Mark finds his sis and gang then goes out to look for my parents..........who never arrive.....

We watch the Shamu show, which doesnt seem so good this year, theres not so much splashing and the whales dont seem very co-operative, perhaps they're having an off day. Jamie loves it though so thats good

We leave Rebecca & co and suddenly spot my parents! Oh have you already been in they ask? Doh!!!!!! They got muddled and went to have lunch first as they thought the show was tonight.......Im going to have them on a leash soon!

Mark's had enough after this (not of my parents, the park I mean!) and so we get our tickets stamped for a free 2nd day at the exit and make our way home for a swim.

This is the beauty of villas, you can go home for a swim any time and you know it wont be crowded A swim and a sunbathe and then we're all back and decide to try Red Lobster again.

It seems a bit mean after being at SW all day to then go and eat fish somehow! ANyway we have a cunning plan to get a table, and Mark, Becky & I drive down the road and ask for a table, find out how long and then ring the villa to tell everyone. Saves them all coming down and waiting anyway! As luck has it we only wait 15 mins so thats great!

Service is a bit slow but we do have a trainee waiter so we forgive them Food is scrummy as always although we could have done with more cheddar bay biscuits they just melt in your mouth! I ate Aztec chicken (tangy lime & sour cream sauce) & shrimp pasta...well left the pasta but the rest was lvoely! Mark had all sorts of fishy things with a lobster tail, Becky had popcorn shrimp as always...Jamie had the kids macaroni cheese and ate every bit!

We shared a massive chocolate wave cake for dessert but still couldnt finish it. It was really gooey and chocolatey and served with ice cream....yum! Marks vanilla bean cheese cake was out of this world too A lovely meal that sounds very exopensive when you say it cost $190...but thats 8 meals with drinks and desserts so not bad really.

Spot of retail therapy finished off the day nicely. Theres a World of Denim just opposite the RL and I bought some Lee denim shorts and a DKNY tshirt for a total of just over $30...great!

Beckys now in a state of high excitement as its Slipknot tomorrow night so night night all............
:wave2:

We went to Sea World in January for the first time in several trips and we thought the Shamu show was 'dumbed down' too. We also ate at the pizza place and I was pleasantly surprised. We bought Bronze Passports which expire at the end of December (so giving us 12 months as we bought them in January) for about $3 more than a single day ticket. We had a long wait as we exited the park to exchange the ticket for a photo pass, though.

We've never eaten at Red Lobster, but it sounds good. I know the one at the end of FG Blvd is fairly new - how did it rate compared with others you've tried?

We like to Red Lobster too ~ nice change if you don't want to eat at WDW. Thanx for another great report.

The Red Lobster at FG is good, although the service was a bit ropey...then again it was packed! and we had a new server...

I think my fave one is at Crossroads:)

The show is often affected if there is a young killer whale and there was a baby calf born on February 9th - could that have been why it was a bit tame?

We have been there a couple of times when a young calf was following Shamu around and the trainers said that they just let the mother do what she wants and she was continually breaking off to communicate with her baby and also to the other whales in the next 'tank'.
