Live from the Christmas Cruise: Disney Magic

Hi Disers!

No one from our Dis group has started a thread, so I thought I'd just come by and say hello. Everyone is so busy having a fantastic time, theres no time to really sit and post.

The Magic is unbelievable. The CMs are really giving it their all for us to have a great time. I hardly know what to say, so much has been going on and we haven't even reached our first port yet!

Capt. Tom is as handsome as ever. Capt Thord is here too. And Ducky Williams is on this cruise!!!Will see him later on.

My 13 yo LOVES the teen club, and he thought he wouldn't when I told him about it. My 20 year old has met a bunch of kids his age, from a gethering that was scheduled for 18-21 year olds. DCL has really covered all bases.

The sea is calm, overcast, humid, warm but not hot.

Rich Purpura the magician/comdeian is HILARIOUS! If you know who John Pinet is, Rich is just like that.

I got the $89 internet package...didnt go with the wireless. There are always available terminals, even with a full ship. For a full ship, I sure don't know where everyone is, because there are no crowds anywhere! I'm always able to get a lounge chair by the pools!
The Dumbotron is going to have Monday night football on tonight, and that should be fun.

So far no negatives, only A- plusses galore!

2. There's been a discussion of how often they wash the bedspreads on board the ships. If you could find out, we'd love to end this debate.

Thanks for posting. We watched Monday night football on the Dumbotron on the 12/10 cruise and it was awesome! Duckie Williams sailed with us last year and his sessions are truely Magic, don't miss them. Have fun!

Hope you all had a great holiday, we dock back at port canaveral on new years eve. Alot of us are headed back to Orlando for the NYE holiday. My girls and me are going to HOB to see sevendust, my Mom and Nskjerven's group are going to Cirque. Some are going to the parks and some are going home

This is truly a Magical Experience, thank you Aisling for starting our live thread

Hey all, have a Wonderul sailing and keep that ship hopping.....us Turkeyday disers are looking for a group to show us up! keep an eye for Pikey and tell him us Turkeyday sailors are still cheering for him.....especially "tink"....he'll understand.

A bit of detail for you all...

Got onboard about 1, Mom's a repeat cruiser (castaway cay club member) so check in was quite easy...we went right to Parrot Cay for lunch, I had fried shrimp and veggies. We went topside to find our DISer friends and managed to find quite a few.

Hearing the horn was truly magical and we were moving immediately afterwards. Verandah Man posted alot of pictures of our sailaway on the christmas cruisin meet thread, you all should check em out

Santa found us, the girls and Mom were happy with their presents. John (DH) sent a gift with me with the promise that I wouldn't open it til Christmas...it was a beautiful gold and diamond mickey necklace, I wore it for formal night last night and have it on right now

AKL was awesome, the girls thought I was nuts booking it for the one night but were very happy that I did. I hit the hottub first, it was a bit cool out but not too cold for the hot tub. The air was so cool that the pool had a constant cloud coming off of it with the temperature difference between the air and the water.

We got upgraded to pool view, not savannah but very nice. Nan (nskjerven) had concierge and we spent some time up there with her. We hit DTD for a bit, the girls did Disney Quest and Mom wound up at Epcot and DTD that day.

We had breakfast, 14 of us, at Boma's before leaving for Port Canaveral.

can anyone on the Magic right now track a server by the name of Plamen from Bulgaria and let him know that there's this article about how wonderful he is in our current and newly released AAA Magazine called "Westways". His picture is featured in it too. Apparently, he was the writer's server on the Magic during the Mexican Riviera sailings. Plamen was also my server on our first cruise. His head server's name was Maclean.

I will be more than happy to mail it to the appropriate people so he can see the article and keep it.

Pikey is part of the Cruise Entertainment staff...He did Bingo when I was on the 12/10 Magic.

I'm flying down to Florida on Tuesday afternoon (12/27) and will be there until Sunday afternoon. I'm bringing my 13 year old nephew down so he can visit with his dad (my brother) for a few days, they haven't seen each other since August. I might take a ride down to the port area Saturday afternoon and watch the Magic sail away and take some "LIVE" sailaway pics for a change!!!

Thanks for all of the updates! It takes me back to last year. We loved Ducky Williams and Rich Pupura. Take Mary's advice and don't miss when Ducky does his presentation in the Beuna Vista Theater. He gave away all his sketches afterwards. We weren't lucky winners but many of our fellow DISers were.

Karen and Dom here. What wonderful people our DIS friends are. It was so great meeting everyone after a year of posting to each other.

The ship is just beautiful. Haging a hard time believing it's Christmas, being so used to 30 degree weather back home. Here we are slathered in sun screen, basking in the sun!

Have had a blast with Keyon and Jake (entermainment guys) at some of the activities. We built a gingerbread house yesterday with Jake. Did a walking brief tour with Keyon.

Our servers are GREAT! Cornwall and Ian. Just Fabulous. We joked with them and told them they had to sing for us on Christmas! They sang Oh Holy Night and were pretty darn good. The 12 of us sang, what else, the 12 Days of Christmas for them!

Brunch at Palo yesterday. DO NOT miss brunch at Palo. We ended up in the Palo Room! Very accomodating. Louise is also WONDERFUL! We requested her for dinner on Friday, too!

I find if we are having a great time, the CM will go out of there way to make sure we have a spectacular time!

Pikey is more like an "assistant cruise director" he is everywhere. Bingo, hot legs contest, 80's night, 70's night......

First opportunity to post..

PLEASE fly in the day before...it was such a long day...but the Magical Express is THE way to go, and check in was a breeze when you arrive at nearly 3PM!

Our room, cat. 4 is terrific, though our outside cabin for 2 on Princess seemed far more spacious than this for 5!!!

Dinners have been great...but I have been to Palos THREE times in TWO days...brunch was DIVINE on Xmas day I figured that the wives needed a bruch on the 26th..they all thanked me for making sure to go..plus DH & I had dinner last night..I am STILL full today! TOO much food! I am not a chocoholic, but truly the souffle is to DIE for! (so is Anton from Bulgaria DH also said I couldn't take him home!

A cruise w/ kids is certainly different! I keep wanting to go out dancining...TOO pooped! maybe tonight....

have met most of my DIS croonies...but have not spent NEARLY enough time w/ them! MIL is looking for more time together than me...

St. Maartem is beautiful...looking forward to coming back w/ our Princess cruise next OCT.

No major differences w/ Princess, except for kids.

Better head,...I need a cocktail!

Louise is great, tell her I said hi, Louise was our server in the Palo private room for our DISmeet brunch in August 2004. If you should happen to see Gemma in Palo, tell her I said hello also. I have a photo of Louise and Gemma together, but that photo is on my desk top in New Jersey, and I'm here on my laptop in "chilly" 50* Florida tonight.
