OMG it's hot here! This is more like July/August weather. 98 degrees today with a heat index of 103!!

We arrived via ME around 11:30 and check-in was quick. Received more than usual "Welcome Homes" which was kinda nice. Unfortunately our 1BR BW view room wasn't ready. We were told we'd receive a "text" when the room was ready so we stored the laptop and headed over to Epcot. Had a nice lunch at Rose and Crown then decided to walk the World Showcase. Well, mind you, we didn't have shorts on and you all know that there isn't much shade along the lake. We roasted!!!! LOL....I felt like a piece of meat cooking!!! I told DH from now on, I carry a small bag on the plane with shorts and light tops just incase we don't have the room ready again. I always do that for myself when I do my October "solo" trip. But we never had this long of a wait for a room. Oh well; live and learn!! ;)

We never did get that text message and around 4:00 I checked and sure enough the room "was just released". Room 3001...it's at the far end of the Boardwalk where they use to have the DVC models. I never walked so far down a hallway like I did today. :rotfl2: But you know what??? It's a great room. Opposite of the normal set up; kitchen is on the left when you walk in and master bedroom is on the right. I've had this set up at SSR, but never here at the BW. The view is great; directly opposite the "Golf Ball" so the fireworks should be nice. Everything is neat and clean; nothing broke or missing.

DH is alseep on the sofa :rotfl: so I think I'll "hike" down to the store for a few items.

I'll try and answer any questions anyone may have and I'll try to be on daily. :wave2:

I was going to say I'm surprised you got a BW view room. We were bumped from our confirmed (ha ha) BW view coming up in 2 weeks because of the room refurb. The walk wouldn't bother me!

I can't believe its that hot already this time of year :scared1: When we went in Jan. they had record cold temps, now I'm worried when we go next month they'll have record heat

Have a magical trip :wizard:

I think that the weather all over has been really weird the last few years. August 2005 heat index was 106 the whole week we were down. :scared1: So I plan a trip for October of 2007 and it it 92 and humid as all get out the whole week. So 2008 I plan a week in November and the temps were in the low 90's all week... So this year I said what the heck and booked in September. :lmao: I'm hoping that even if it is hot, there won't be any lines so we'll just walk on all the rides:rotfl2:

If it makes you feel any better - if you had stayed home in the Bronx - it would have rained all day with a high of 65 and they are forecasting yet another inch or two of rain overnight. Hopefully the 98 will feel a little better in light of that. Have a wonderful vacation.

Maybe they're working on the "other end" and that's why we're all the way down here. We're use to the walk now. Just that first day when you're really dragging is when it kills you!! :lmao:

Day 2 - Well it's about 7:30 and it's 82 degrees with a high of 99 promised. I'm headed to the pool and DH is going to walk around Epcot for awhile.

We had such a fantastic view of Luminations fireworks lastnight. I'd have to say, that other than actually being there, this view was the best. I've stayed in another "wonder room" 3123 where the view was great. That's the room everyone comes back speaking about because of the layout. It has this tremendous living room with a balcony that wraps around the kitchen and livingroom. Then you have 2 or 3 sets of sliding doors out to the man balcony. Anyway, we thought that had a good view since it faced France on the WS.

Lots of weddings going on; saw three here on the Boardwalk yesteredy. They looked soooooo hot in their gowns and tuxedos. One bride was seen changing into "flip flops" before heading into the Resort!!

Today after the pool we're headed into the Studios. I have to get on Toy Story!!!!

Time to shower and get going!! Speak to you later...

Enjoying your report. We also cherish a BW view -- to people-watch in the daytime and to drink an adult beverage while watching fireworks at night.
I know how folks complain about the long hallways but I never can figure out why walking in an air conditioned hallway is so much worse than walking in a hot theme park. :confused3 And the BW view rooms that are furthest down the hall have the best view of Illuminations.

We've stayed in 4123 and 2123 and agree that the living room and large balcony are fantastic. I think 3123 has the 'best of both worlds' because it's obviously higher than 2123 so you get a better view, but it has the entire balcony of 4123 sheltering it from rain, whereas 4123 only has awnings over the sliding doors so it can get pretty wet when it rains.

I've lived in SW Florida for almost 23 years now, and whenever we have a stretch of weather where it feels like 110-115 it's always been in June. Or maybe I just noticed it more. August is more rainy, but many Junes have been alot more uncomfortable! Any bride who gets married at WDW during the hot months is either crazy or extraorinarly dumb. Sorry, but that's the truth - unless everything related to the wedding takes place indoors, of course. A friend's daughter is getting married outside at BW in early Oct - and I hate to say it, but most likely she's going to be miserable  when she sees hot hot it will still be.

I had the 2br villa next door to yours but up on the top floor. The view is great, but the walk is very long. Going to Studios is easy, using the stairs right close to your room.

Enjoy the rest of your trip, and thanks for sharing!

OK, I have a question.....if the room Sue had and the OP has are considered BW view rooms, why are villas on the bottom floor considered Standard View??? Or perhaps I have the wrong area in mind.....we have had Standard View rooms at the BWV several times, on 2 occasions they looked onto the entry way/bus stop, they were very close to the Studios walkway. Are the rooms you speak of closest to the boardwak??? :confused3

We have a Preferred View 2BR for August and would love to snag a 'partial' BW view.....is that possible? Also, why are the BW View rooms the same number of points as the Preferred?

bw view was part of preferred views - but many member complainted that they made their reservation 11 months in advance but never got a BW view.

so a few years ago - DVC separated BW from preferred - without an increase in points.

It was done more because of member complaints than anything else.

so if you want a BWV view just call at your 11 month time - you should be able to get one.

the standard views must see either a parking lot of the driveway.

these units would not - because they are seeing Epcot - either france or ESS

I remember when BW view was part of the Preferred View...imo, since the points did not go UP for the BW view, the points for Preferred view should have gone down. It's not fair to pay more points when you cannot get the BW view room, and of course, the Standard View rooms go quickly too. I can't book at the 11 month window, it is not my home resort...I actually prefer BCV (same amount of points) but they are not available either.

The rooms overlooking the bus stop are standard. I've stayed on that side where you overlook the boardwalk entry and it's definately standard. My room is on the other side directly overlooking the boardwalk.

Sounds FAB! I look forward to hearing more about your trip!! :goodvibes

Day 3 - What a nice day yesterday. Spent a good part of the morning at the pool while DH did his "walk". Boy was he hot when he met up with me. We hit a heat index of 105 yesterday with the air temp of 98. But we didn't feel it as much as when we first arrived Sat.; I think our bodies are getting adjusted. :thumbsup2 Spent the afternoon at the Studios which was nice. You know, the park wasn't as crowded as I expected. I think everyone was back at their resort in the pool!!

Saw the renovation side of the BW...along the canal to the Studios. But you don't hear anything from the outside. Our side is still the same.

If anyone knows how to upload photos from a laptop, I have a couple I'd like to share. But I can't figure out how to do it like I normally do at home. I'm looking for an "icon" that tells me to "browse" but can's seem to find it. Oh well...something else to play with later.

After breakfast it's back to the pool for awhile then off to DTD. I really enjoying pool in the morning; plus just incase it rains I've had my share of the sun! Not that I'm lacking it now! :)

One minor complaint - the a/c on the boats. Or should I say lack of???? Those new units are horrible. I felt bad for the crew yesterday. Everyone was complaining how hot it was and asked "where's the a/c"?? Even one of the Captains "round about said that Disney made an error" when replacing these new "more efficient" units. Well, they may be more efficient in January but right now they stink!!!!

Ok, no more complaints!! If I can figure out how to get some shots here I will. Otherwise talk to you all later.....
