LIVE from the 10/15 magic!

Hi Perdidobay-
Thanks for posting! Love the live reports and look forward to more when you have time and are able to connect. Glad the seas are calmer and hope everyone gets to feeling better soon! Have fun!

Thanks Perdidobay!

The excersize room stuff surprises me - the letter they sent for the Oct 22 cruise claimed that the equipment would be available "elsewhere". Oh well, I guess I'll just take the stairs for my excersize! (Actually, I always do that anyway)

I sure hope the internet connections are better next week. We have a family business and have to maintain some sort of contact with the office....

This is the Information about wireless internet. I think this is very expensive...

The Wonder and the Magic have gone Wireless:

If your laptop is wireless ready, you can bring it onboard and use it to surf the 'net and have full access to your personal files.

There are ten locations where Wireless service can be accessed:

Atrium Decks 3, 4 and 5 midship
Cadillac Lounge (Wonder)
Sessions (Magic)
Cove Cafe
Open Decks 9 & 10
Promenade Lounge
Studio Sea
Wavebands (Wonder)
Rockin' Bar D (Magic)
The rates are:

$25.00 for 33 minutes

$55.00 for 100 minutes

$100.00 for 250 minutes

Printing is not available

Hope you're having a great time! You don't need to answer this now if your connection is bad (and I know the price to be online isn't cheap), but I was wondering about the changes to the Spa and exercise room. The press release from Disney states they've added 3 new indoor/outdoor spa villas to the Spa. It also mentions that they've doubled the size of the exercise room with new equipment. Obviously they didn't add more space to the ship, so do you know what they replaced to accomodate these new offerings?

Perdidobay mentioned that there is actually equipment *outside* on deck 10. Is this really part of the expansion or is that equipment just placed there until it can be placed in its new exercise area as it was said earlier that crew members were saying not everything was 100% finished yet.

As for the changes to Parrot Cay, I'm interested in hearing more about them. I must say I always thought the leaves around the windows were pretty cool in setting the tropical feel for the place....I hope they either replaced them with something else or added something new to make PC even better.

the exercise equipment outside on deck 10 is just temp till the renovations are done. I just came from the Castaway club reception and Captain Thord said the grand opening for the new spa will be Oct 29th. So you Oct 22nd cruisers will still have to deal with construction. The new area will take up space that was once the outer deck of 9 just forward of the adult pool from the looks of things.

I checked out Parrot cay and it looks very good, just a little different.

The captain also said that 2007 dates may be released in a week or two but we knew that, right? :smooth:

Scattered showers tomorrow, 30 chance of rain and winds 10-15 knots, hope we still have a Pirate party tomorrow night, I want to see what they do with the jumbo screen.

Later...... :wave2:

Bedspreads look the same to me too. I don't think the changes to Parrot Cay were all that remarkable...maybe I just don't remember what it looked like last year.

The big screen was showing a Care Bears show from Playhouse Disney this morning. The volume was loud enough to hear but not loud enough to compete with the Caribbean band that was playing at the Goofy Pool.

Bingo is still the Devil's game. But that's because I didn't win yet. :rotfl2:

We had sun today, but it looks like it's clouding up again.

I'm going to explore the Spa tomorrow afternoon after my 12-metre regatta excursion...I'll brief you on the details.

And yes, internet's been VERY spotty...which is why it's probably just Perdido and me posting.

Thanks to both of you for the LIVE posts for us. I didn't realize they no longer offered the unlimited internet package, and the prices do seem a bit steep. So MANY thanks for taking your time, not to mention your MINUTES, to post. Continued pixie dust for your cruise! :goodvibes

the unlimited internet pkg is still available, it's just not wireless.
DH bought it so I will be able to post more and not worry over $$

so more to come! :wave2:

Ooooh, recling chairs on the verandahs. They must have read my mind!
I hope that your seas calm down. Have a fabulous trip.
11 1/2 weeks until my January 7 Eastern!!!!!! :sunny:

Can I ask how much it is for the unlimited? Does anyone on the boards know if the 4-night Wonder does unlimited?

Thanks for posting!

Answered my own quesiton...

Unlimited Internet Access:

$39.99 - 3 Night cruise
$39.99 - 4 Night Cruise
$89.99 - 7 Night Cruise
$129.99 - 10 Night Cruise
$179.99 - 14 Night Cruise

Thanks again Ladygypsy and Perdido for the live updates. Sorry to hear that apparently all the new stuff in the spa/exercise room isn't ready yet for your cruise. Do they expect to have it finished at least for you guys to see by the end of your cruise?

I had one more question about the sound for the new screen though. Is it pumped through the existing speakers on the decks or were new speakers installed just for the screen?

...and if you guys want, I'd love to see some pics of the new outdoor screen and what Parrot Cay looks like now, when you get back, of course ;) Seriously though, don't really worry about it. If you grab some pics, great. If not, no big deal.

Thanks again and I hope you thoroughly enjoy the rest of your cruise!

The exercise equipmment will not be back in place for this cruise. As for speakers for the new screen, I donot know the answer, but I am guessing they may have added a few.
we are taking plenty of photos, as are the 30+ other disers on this cruise. You will get sick of our photos, I'm sure!

Thank you so much for posting and aswering our questions!

Is the internet access getting better? Did they ever tell you why it wasn't working? This has me worried since I REALLY need to be able to communicate with our family business (We're all going on this cruise except for our 1 employee who will attempt to hold down the fort in our absense!) and the thought of paying for ship-to-shore phone calls is scary!

Heres the reply~

Dear Scott,

Thank you for your interest in your upcoming Disney Cruise Vacation!

The guests traveling on the 10/15 and 10/22 cruises were sent letters previous to their cruise
explaining the dry dock enhancements. They were also told that certain areas would not be totally
completed and we apologized in advance for this.

It is possible that you will see ship workers painting and cleaning. This is a normal part of the
continual upkeep of the ship. While we try to do this when guests are not in the area, it is
possible that you will see this.

I hope the above information proves helpful.

We look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!

I just went to the cruise meets thread for this cruise and there are lots of DIS'ers on this sailing. It seems strange that there is so few posts. I wonder if they are still having problems with the internet?
The last thing I want to do on a cruise is get near a computer. My life is spent on the computer and I want to vacation by getting away from it.

Thanks for posting while on your cruise, I hope you're all having a great time and aren't inconvenienced too much by the construction.

Now go have some fun :)

In all honesty, you should never count on internet access on board a moving ship. The satellite connection can be slow at best and non-existent at worst. There are internet cafe's in all the ports (except I am sure Castaway Cay) where you can get online and check the business for a much cheaper price than onboard.

Just a suggestion.

Can someone aboard ship get a few pictures of the reclining chairs on their verandah? I'd love to see what they look like so I can start daydreaming now! :sunny: We loved our verandah so much the last time, and now to think there will be reclining chairs too... ahhh.... :cloud9:
