Live From SSR!

WOW WOW the thunder and lightening is really something spectacular! We have had great ( if not really hot) weather since arriving on Sunday and I knew we were bound to have some rain. There was a lot of thunder last night, but no rain. We hot downtown Disney last night for some shopping Dinner was at Captain Jack's. I am sad to say I was disappointed. I knew the twin tails were gone, but I was up for the crab cakes. THey give you 2 crab cakes...the same as the appetizer we have had there in the past. I asked the waitress why they served the same size as past appie and she said that these are made with "much better crabmeat" To be honest with you, they tasted the same. Two small crab cakes is hardly filling for dinner. It was served with some overcooked dried out roasted potato wedges and some baby asparagus which was good. My son liked his chicken with mashed potatoes. The dessert was to die for though. Double chocolate cake with carmel sauce and ice cream...YUM!!!

We didn't get our Trash and Towel yesterday, but I called Housekeeping this morning and they dropped off the towels, but never took the old ones or trash??
I should also note that we didnt get any dish soap or sponge....I had plenty in my owners locker from previous trips, so no issue but thought I should point it out. I am still trying to figure out how to post pics. I have them up on my Facebook page. I dont know if we can post those links here?

Wow...this is I think the third or fourth post I've read recently about not getting their trash and towel service. I've even heard about housekeeping just dropping a basket of towels by the door.

I think you can post the link for Facebook; but I'm not totally sure.

When I was there in June I asked someone how to post and he suggested I open an account on Photobucket; load them there then you can cut and paste here. That was much easier.

Sorry about your dinner at Capt Jacks but that dessert soundd wonderful

Thanks mbelsanti for the great SSR report! I'm so excited about the refillable mug station at the Grandstand pool! We've requested the Grandstand section and hopefully we'll get it.

You know I did see clothes baskets with towels outside some room doors during the week...I didn't realize that was how they were leaving the clean towels. In any event they did bring us more towels, but left them on the bed and did not take the dirty towels with them.

I must point out that the refill mug stand at the Grandstand pool had lots of bees around it...the guy working the pool bar kept bringing the hose around and spraying it down. Be careful when filling your mugs as some of the bees were inside the nozzle and I would hate to see one go into someone's drink.


To sum up our trip, I was really surprised how much I loved the resort. I said I would never want to stay at a large resort, but this place blew me away. The buses were always quick to come and we only had to stand one time. I think the only complaints I had were that the Grandstand pool bar should take DDP for their sandwhiches as they served same things as Artist's Palette. I also think that for such a large resort, they need more food offerings in Artists Palette. The food was just ok and not very consistant except that the chips were gross.

Great Report!!

We really love SSR. We never want to leave. I always cry when it's time to go and Dh indulges me and we stay 1 more night

I love that it is not crowded, that sometimes we are the only people at the pool at midnight, that we know all the castmembers by name and they know us from trip to trip. It is just really relaxing and comfortable. The beds are great and it really feels like home.


Glad you enjoyed your stay.

PS-those baskets are placed outside the doors because SSR housekeepers do not use carts. All their needs are in the baskets. They are still supposed to provide you with full service on your scheduled days. If they do not, be sure to call and bring it to their attention and also call Member Sat. and report this is occurring.
