Live from SSR

We checked out of SSR and into the Yacht and Beach Club resorts and were upgraded to concierge and I can honestly say we are all wishing we were back at SSR.
Sorry to hear about that disappointment -- I know you were looking forward to YC/BC.

On the bright side, tho...on Sunday, you'll be checking back into SSR :cool1:...

NOT POP with about 10,000 of your closest friends on free dining!
:dance3: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :rainbow: :crowded: :crowded: :rockband: party: :jumping1:

These days, DW and I are just two. We visited BCV last year for the first time and had many of the same feelings you do. I think for sure that BVC is THE resort for young families. Loved the pool, but otherwise wanted to be back across the pond at BWV

Hi Sammie

Thanks so much for checking in and giving us all a little magic! :wizard:

Great report, Sammie, and it sounds like (for the most part) you're having a good time. Let us know if you hear anymore news.

Well it's Sunday and we are back at SSR and glad to be here. :)

Check in here was great, took every bit of 5 mins, got several Welcome Homes and a Welcome Back from the staff at AP. We are back in the Paddocks, in the same unit actually as last week :thumbsup2
Everything is clean, and works.

It finally rained today, the first time all week. Had dinner at the YC Galley and it was good and service was great.

I have not heard any new rumors. The are busy working on the Cinema here so if they are doing model rooms they are busy at it. No one will confirm what is going on there.

As to the DDP I would definitely do it again. It was way more food that we needed or wanted but the convenience was great and saved hundreds on what we did order.

Hi Sammie! Where is this cinema you've been talking about?

Isn't it great to be back at SSR? I'm so glad you're having such a good time. How much longer do you have there before you have to leave?

I'm glad you're having such a great time.

I'm so sorry that you experienced the bad times at the lounge/food area at concierge. I guess those parents felt that they paid for "the hotel" to babysit.

The Cinema is the one at SSR across the street from the DVC preview center. The rumor is they are building model rooms there for the next DVC, and they are definitely busy working on something there and have the doors and windows blacked out. :confused3

We leave on Wednesday. Today was our best day weather wise, a beautiful day with a great breeze. We went out for dinner and had drinks afterwards at the Polynesian pool bar and watched Wishes from there, did some shopping at the Polynesian shops before heading back to SSR.

Is it the old AMC?

Ok...I know The Cinema. We'd pass it on our walks to the restaurants.

Well, you've definately had a wonderful vacation. I KNOW you hate to see it end. But as I tell myself everytime I pack to come back to "reality"; you'll be back!!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you for all your wonderful updates and time!!! If I don't talk to you before you leave; have a safe trip home tomorrow.

No it was never a real cinema, it was a mock up that was used for Member meetings and such.
Ok Thanks for getting back to me so quick. Enjoy the rest of your time at SSR. :sunny:

Thanks for the report! Glad you are having a wonderful time. :sunny:

Thanks for the report Sammie!
Was especially interested in your comments about BCV furniture and sofa beds -- we will be there in Dec. This was supposed to be our year to try BWV but we decided to stay at BCV anyway, in part because of the report of new sofa beds. Good to hear that is actually taking place.

As to where everyone at SSR eats, if it were me I'd be eating one meal a day at Earl of Sandwich! :rotfl:

This was never a real cinema? Bummer. I had always envisioned there was functional equipment in there gathering dust. I had always hoped that somewhere within WDW they'd have a cinema showing the Disney archive of films on a schedule published in advance. I know that they'd be concerned about people not spending time (well, money) in the parks, but I'd love to kill a hot afternoon watching a Disney classic (not talking about 'The Black Hole', but I'd admit even that would be a guilty pleasure).

Model homes instead? I guess I could do without more model homes at SSR.

I've been in there for a member meeting and it was really nice inside. It's too bad they couldn't figure out a way to use it as a theater.

I loved this thread!!! Thank you Sammie. I'm going to SSR for the first time in October and it's so nice to hear about how things are there. I really enjoyed that you wrote while you were there. It made me feel like our trip is going to be great, because you made it sound wonderful.

You will have a great trip, and you will have much better weather than we had. It was so hot. October will be perfect weather for enjoying the beautiful grounds.

Something I discovered on this trip. I know some have said the boat dock for the Downtown Disney/Riverside is pretty hard to find.

You can either drive over and park right at the Boat Landing past the tennis courts, if you have a car. Lots of parking and so much easier than trying to park at DD, which is a nightmare. Or you can walk to the main building, go out the back through the doors to the right in the Artist Pallette store. That door leads right down to the boat dock. If you don't want to walk, you can take the Internal Shuttle bus. On the SSR TV channel they tell you which bus to catch at each bus stop to ride Internally. Basically if you are in Paddocks you can catch any bus, as they all stop at the Springs.

The resort landscaping is some of the best I have seen Disney do and each trip it gets better. We were in Paddocks and I honestly never even noticed the traffic or heard it on Buena Vista Drive.

The staff was bar none the best we experienced during our stay. Everyone at Artist Pallette was so friendly and welcome. After we moved to the YC on the weekend, when we came back to SSR on Sunday, they were so welcoming and were glad to see we were back. Asked about our stay over the weekend and apolgoized for our problems there and they don't even work there. They just wanted us to have a good time regardless. They were very accommidating in helping us figure out the DDP the first couple of days. Also if you want some variation of something on the menu, just ask they were very helpful.

When we would come and go through the front gate, even though we used our room card and the automatic gate, the guard would step out and shout a big "Welcome Home" as we were driving through. When we would be in the lobby and the staff was not busy, we would always get friendly smiles and waves as we passed though. Actually they were more friendly than concierge was at the YC.

Our unit was spotless and looked like it had not even been used prior to us. The only issue we had was the wasps and literally they came within 5 mins. The maintenace man was so nice and apolgized several times for us even having to report it.

I could have stayed for weeks and never went to a park and been very happy.

Please let me know how your trip goes and be sure to check out the new bronze of the horse and rider, it truly is spectacular. I was amazed at the number of people, even adults, petting the horse, it is so life like.
