Having dinner later this week at Turf Club but have heard nothing but good things about it, even from people not at SSR.

Sammie, we ate at the Turf Club on our trip in July....right after it opened. The food was really good, but the menu selection was limited. I'm sure that the menu will expand as the Turf Club settles in at the resort.

Glad to hear you are having a great time! We have 22 days to go before we make it back.

Oooh-sounds as if we'll be there at the same time. Hope we'll run into each other. :goodvibes

I'm thinking we may be hard to miss......think My Big Fat Greek Wedding meets all (well some of us are here in the south, but..) the Italian relatives from 'up north' combined with the magic of Disney Weddings. SSR is 'home base' for the bridal party and their relatives.

Now if only the tropics will behave and be quiet.... pixiedust:

Sammie, how do you like being in the Paddock? Is having the bus pick your section up first a great advantage? Is it a long walk to the food court/pool? What kind of view do you have? We'd love to see pics!

We like the Paddocks alot. We are in the building closest to the bridge, pool and bus stop. Our view is a the inner courtyard and looking across to a water way. Picking up first is some advantage in that as soon as others get off at Congress Park and Springs you can almost always sit down. Coming back from the park we are the second stop after Carousel and that is nice.

The walk over the bridge to the main building is not a bad walk at all. Also you can catch any bus and get off at the Springs if you wish to. Or ride the Internal bus.

The area is very quiet and we never hear any traffic from the road or notice it. The landscaping is very dense and will only get better.

Yes I agree that the menu is limited but was good. I wish I had thought to ask as the Chef came to our table to chat and I could have gotten more info about menu expansion.

Service here has been exceptional. We had some wasps on our patio and we called and they came within 5 minutes to take care of it. They even apologized that they had missed it.

Something is going on at the Cinema but not sure what. They have gutted it and removed all the seating and were putting up sheetrock.

Sammie - glad you're having such a good time. I was there last month and absolutely loved the place. Reading your notes is making me "homesick". ;)

I think we're going to see the menu expansion at the Turf Club sooner than we think. When I was there last month, we ate there 2 times. And the last time, the Chef was actually having a meeting with "someone" in the lounge, looking at what seemed to be a "larger menu". So maybe we'll see something soon. But we definately loved the food and we were there only 3 weeks after it opened!!!

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!

it sounds like you're having a great trip. I can't wait until it is our turn, but we have to wait until next year .. I am sooo looking forward to it!

Dinner at Cape May Cafe was good as usual, but service was the worst I have ever experienced at Disney. I would hate to think the DDP was the cause but who knows. We had to beg for an extra class of tea. Other servers took our soup bowls and salad plates as they began to stack up on our table.

Then when we got ready to sign our ticket, she gave it to us, said sign it and walked off. No thank you, enjoy your stay, nothing. I will complain about this one, she had several chances to at least be polite, even if she was slow. She was not even really busy.

Many kids not being attended to by parents, crawling around under other's feet and table. Small children unattended at the buffet, that were too short to even see the food and one almost dumped the melted butter on top of his head.

If we do DDP again we probably will avoid the buffet. I can only imagine the scene when free dining begins.

Fantasia Golf was fun and crowded but always a tradition for us.

If anyone is planning a trip to a beauty salon or wants a massage with a great therapist or manicure or pedicure and want to save a bundle and don't mind driving to Kissimmee, send me a PM and I will give you the info.

Not an atmosphere place but prices are fantastic and so is the service. It has to be good, the big Mice from Disney go there. :thumbsup2

I saw many unattended children at Chef Mickey's also. As a matter of fact, there were two at the buffet. Oh I'd say maybe aged 8 and 4. The 8 year old was "lifting" the younger one up so he could "stick his head" over the food to see what it was. I called a server over and they were escorted away. Look, I like kids; have a few myself :rotfl: . But please - watch your child. What if the younger one was dropped and hurt himself??

I When does the free dining begin? And it's time limited right? It's not something that's going on forever is it???

It'll be nice to run in to a fellow DISboard member. We are coming in for Labor Day weekend, Fri thru Mon. Are getting married in Disney?

My DN is getting married on that Sunday evening (the 3rd) at the Wedding Pavilion with the reception at Atlantic Dance at BW. My DS (12) is an usher, so we're checking in Saturday AM in time for the rehearsal and leaving on Wednesday-as long as his school cooperates.
We figure the parents of the bride (who bought DVC after a visit with us in 2004) will need some consoling after writing that last check :rotfl2:

We got to meet Amy (starbox) and her family at the block party last week , and would love the chance to meet another fellow DISer and SSR lover :cheer2:

Oh how nice!!! I told DH that if we ever renue our vows, I want to do it in WDW. He just kinda looked at me. :rotfl:

If you can, post some pictures. I bet it will be lovely.

LOL! I told my DH the same thing-and he just laughed, especially after hearing what our friends are spending for this wedding. I was thinking about just going for the add-on at AKV instead. I could actually convince DH he was getting off easily :rotfl:

I will try to post some pics when we return. We're just thrilled that the ceremony is at 7:30 PM--so that it might be a bit cooler for everyone. We saw a few brides on the BW last week and they looked like they were just melting...beautiful, but melting. The poor grooms in the tuxes-I can't even imagine.

Free dining is VERY time-limited. It starts 8/13 and ends 9/30, although some who check in prior to 9/30 will still be on it for a few days in October.

Sammie posted on another board that Pop alone is expecting 2,000 room checkins this Sunday, the first day of Free DDP!

Thank you for the information!!

I know this will be hard for some to believe but this is just the personal observations of my group this week which consists of adults only this trip.

We checked out of SSR and into the Yacht and Beach Club resorts and were upgraded to concierge and I can honestly say we are all wishing we were back at SSR.

We miss the larger rooms, are tired of valet parking, tired of walking through lobbies crowded with screaming kids to get to a room only to wait on a elevator that is being used as a play thing by some kids.

In the concierge lounge it looks like Nightmare at Kiddie Land. I truly do not have anything against kids, as such, but have a major problem with Adults that do not parent their kids.

I mean where are parents when kids are in the lounge by themselves playing in the food and the lounge.

I will never do concierge at Disney again even with a free upgrade and can't even imagine paying for it.

The service has been good and the amenties are nice, but until something is done about unruly kids, we will avoid it.

Thank goodness we go back to SSR tomorrow. We will be getting more points, no more weekend getaways for us, unless its the Grand Floridian.

I should have added, free DDP registration is OVER. It closed in June, I believe.
