DH and I arrived yesterday for our first stay at SSR. We arrived at the resort around 1 and immediately got our room. It's in Congress Park and overlooks DTD. This is truely a beautiful resort. Yes it's somewhat away from the parks, but for us having DTD across the way is a treat. We never go there! I will say that it's quite a walk to the Carriage House, but once you get your bearings it's not too bad. I love the room, but I have one complaint. They did not provide hooks on any of the back doors for things like robes or nightgowns. :confused3 Other than that, we absolutely love this resort. :rotfl: Quite a contrast from what we're use too at the Boardwalk.

Well we're off....this is our first ever non commando trip. I'm kinda liking it!Just Dh and myself; no kids!!!!!

I'll be happy to try and answer questions. See you later!

Thanks - please update some more when you have a chance. The only villas we've stayed in are Boardwalk. We are in search of a 2 bedroom for early December and might do SS - would love some feedback.

Glad your trip has started on a positive note and you really seem to like the resort. Good for you and have a wonderful stay!! :sunny:

You are in a great area- Congress Park. DH and I stayed there and just loved the view each night of DTD. You are going to love the quick walk there also. Enjoy your stay and keep us posted.

Keep us posted as the days unfold. Always good to hear positive reviews of our home.

Thanks and enjoy your stay.

Have a great trip and fill us in on the new Turf Club Bar & Grill if you can. Photos?

Yes, please do write with more details as your trip moves on. We are staying at SSR in december and love hearing everything we can. I'd love to see photos too. (hint hint) We have requested the Congress Park area so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope the rest of your trip is as magical as it has been so far.

Hi,

I go to SSR in 11 days and am so excited about it. Would love to hear any details.
:goodvibes

I have a couple of quick questions. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside last year. I loved the look of the resort. Although, I did not like the transportation setup. We waited more than an hour one time for a bus to come. And several times 45+ minutes. This quickly became frustrating. See, we go to the parks early, then at 1pm we would go back to the room with our 2 kids(now three), 4 and 6 to take a nap. This would do wonders for this kids and my wife and I. Later at night when other parents were watching their kids melt down, we would be pleasantly going about our routine. We have done this since my second trip to WDW in 1998, without kids. At Port Orleans, this failed miserably. We would leave an hour and a half to get to our dinner reservation. We missed two dinner reservations as a result. And two of them we had to rush to make it. I regret not renting a car. This would have solved that problem. In fact, after we missed our second dinner reservation, we started to go by cab. This worked out much better. My first question, what has been everyone's experience with SSR's busing? Should we get a car or rely on the taxi cabs?

Second question, is there internet access either wireless or wired? This is not for work. We are only bringing my wife's computer, and we frequently download shows and movies for the kids to watch at night.

We are looking forward to this trip as we just purchased 175 points at SSR.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I posted this in the wrong place, sorry. Just let me know where to post it for future reference.

Also, please provide any other advice or experiences at SSR.

Thank you.

We stayed at SSR in March 2006. The buses were coming quite frequently. I think the most we waited for one was 15 minutes and this was at 7:30 p.m. when we wanted to get to Epcot. Otherwise all day long the buses were there non stop. If you are going to a resort you can always walk to DTD from SSR and catch a resort bus. Dh and I make a habit of when we have a ressie at a theme park we always walk to the bus stop no later than 1 1/2 hours in advance. We are sure to get there then.

the internet is wired and hook up is in master bedroom at the desk. we were located in front of the first bus stop in paddock and never waited more then 5 minutes for buses.

Glad you are enjoying your trip.

DVC members can borrow DVD's for free at Artist's Palette. They have a very good selection for both kids and adults! :)

Morning! First the busses are pretty good. They come about every 20 minutes or so, but DH and I have just missed eachone!! :rotfl: We can't seem to get there before the bus! And...unlike the Boardwalk, they are empty!!!!!! :thumbsup2 And seond question - yes there is internet availability and it's $9.95 per 24 hours. No wireless yet and cables are provided if you should forget yours. Pictures....well I'll try. I'm not too good with the digital. But I'm sure DH will give it a shot.

We are truely enjoying this resort. It is sooooo big and with all the construciton going on it's going to be even BIGGER!!! I'll see if I can find out when evryting will be finished.

Observations: the pools do get quite crowded by mid-afternoon, but it's also very hot. Mid 90's each day. I'm going to the quite pool this morning as it's right outside my window! Then we're heading into Epcot later on.

I have to admitt; I am really having a true "relaxing vacation". First time ever!!!! :thumbsup2 And...Dh has treated me to a manicure and pedicure at the SPA!!! I can't wait for that!!! Details will follow.

Yes, please let us know how your trip to the SPA goes. I travel every week right now, so the DW has to raise our three DK all on her own. I am home on the weekend, but that is not enough. I want to treat her to the SPA, but have never done anything like that. Please provide as much information as possible.

Thank you.

9 More months as a road warrior.(A promise to the DK's that I intend to keep)
