I think all four of us dozed off on the bus back to SSR from MK on Monday afternoon. Something about the steady hum of the bus and the gentle rocking - plus having had a yummy lunch earlier. On the walk from the bus to the room, we decided to skip going back out to DHS and instead make a trek to Downtown Disney later in the evening.
We all enjoyed just hanging out at the room. I love having the space that we aren't all on top of each other. And I will say that if we had more than four in our unit for too many days, I think it would feel crowded. It's nice as it is for the boys to have their room, us to have ours, and then the living room / balcony be for whoever. If someone was sleeping in there and had nowhere else to go, that would be a bit much for that person, I think. However, if we had little kids who didn't take up as much space (LOL), it might be better - or if we weren't actually staying in the room much. SSR is definitely smaller for the general living area than Hilton Head is where we've spent the last two spring breaks including grandparents and didn't feel crowded. Of course they have those long balconies which makes it really nice to have that extra space.
Anyway, around 6 p.m. I decided I would go workout. I joined a local health club about a month ago and have been faithfully going to exercise, and while you do a lot of walking at WDW, it's not the same as walking for exercise, and since I don't have a little kid to carry, then there's no upper body workout in the parks, either (LOL). I haven't used a fitness center at WDW before, so that was a new experience. It's a five minute warm-up walk from our building to the fitness center, and then I did my usual routine. Walking back afterwards, I was glad I had done it because I felt more energized than I had earlier in the afternoon.
Around 8 p.m. we headed over to DTD, taking the footpath that goes by Congress Park. We breezed through the Christmas store, peeked into Mickey's Pantry, and then spent some time in the Lego tent - they are expanding the Lego store, so they've put up a tent building by the Once Upon a Toy store.
We stopped by the Pin Trader shop to look for a Snow White's Scary Adventure pin - DS14 wants to find one since the ride is going away. I don't know that I've ever seen one but we are having lunch today with a pin guru, so we'll ask her about it. While there, we found a Cinderella's Golden Carrousel pin with the 40 yrs symbol - we got it since they've already changed the name to Prince Charming's Regal Carrousel - plus it has the 40 yr symbol. We did think momentarily about the limited edition set of 8 pins for the 40th celebration but decided at $76.95 to wait til the end of the trip and see if we had any money left
In the meanwhile the cast member did her job of showing us the non-limited edition 40 yr pins so we got one of the Mickey ears.
We stopped at Ghiradelli for a piece of dark chocolate (oh golly, the boys don't like it so DH and I enjoyed theirs for them - good thing I went to the fitness center earlier - LOL), and then made our way through Pleasure Island to the Wetzel's Pretzels. There was a really long line, but they were all waiting for ice cream, so we went right to the register to order our pretzels - and get our 20% discount for being DVC Members! We sat and listened to the musician performing there for a while and then headed back to SSR.
All in all, a great Day 2!
