Hi everyone. We checked into POR yesterday. We absolutely LOVE IT. Weather is great, crowd levels are very manageable. We're having a blast. We are in Alligator Bayou and we made a fax request 3 days prior and they met it to the letter. The CM's are fabulous. The boat to DTD is a big plus. We typically stay deluxe and I always said we couldn't go back to moderate but this place has made a liar out of me. We saw a glimpse of Piano Bob last night and we plan on checking him out tomorrow night.

Went to MK yesterday and Epcot today. The F&G is in full bloom and gorgeous.

We're eating like pigs, relaxing and having a blast. I highly recommend Raglan Road. We had a blast there last night singing and eating. We had the Smokie City appetizer for 2 which is smoked cod baked with cheese and then for the main course we shared the Raglan Risotto. Delicious and cheesy with watercress on top.

Please let me know if you have any questions. We'll be getting ready soon for our dinner at Blue Zoo then we're off to Illuminations. It's EMH tonight at Epcot.

Oh.. how lovely! I am still wishing that my vacation was coming up but it's not.

How is the weather?

Glad to hear you are having a great time. We are headed down in three weeks for our first stay at BCV and I can hardly stand the wait. I am really looking forward to the F&G at Epcot. We will make it for the last weekend and also the last weekend of Star Wars weekends.

Enjoy the rest of your trip! :sunny:

In a word HOT! It's about 96 degrees today. When we first arrived, highs were in the low 80's but now I think it's safe to say summer officially has arrived.

We went horsebackriding this a.m. and it was very nice. There's a big Ironman Triathalon going on and FW is the host area so it's kind of crazy. Then, we went off-site for lunch and headed for Animal Kingdom. Saw FOLK, the Pocahontas show, Dinosaur, EE (FANTASTIC!), and the Maharajeh (sp?) Jungle Trek. It got so hot I had to stop but we're going back to AK in the a.m. to finish up and I'm sure we'll ride EE again.

Tonight we're going to eat here at Boatwrights and go to River Roast to here Piano Bob perform. We've never seen his show before so we're excited.

As far as the resort, everything is fabulous. We are SOLD on POR. And, we've been staying deluxe since 1999. I think we'll be back and that's a fact. We love it.

Let me know if there are any questions. I'll try to check in again tomorrow or Monday.

We just got back from POR....we loved it as well! We are used to staying at values, but my grandmother paid the difference for us to stay at POR (this was our anniversary trip)....this is going to make it hard to go back to values!!!!

Hi! So glad you're having a fun time! Did you get to the water parks? To save $, I didn't buy passes with a water park option but then when I found out how hot it was down there I was sorry. How's the pool? What AB building are you in if you don't mind my asking? Is it close to the pool? We'll be there Wed.!

:sunny: Thanks for the live report...we will be at POR in late August. We are down to 95 more days so your report is just what I needed to make me even more excited!!! :thumbsup2 Have you been to the main pool yet...did you like it? We requested building either 14, 16 for close proximity to the main building and pool...yippee!! :teeth:

So great to hear that you are having a blast!! I was getting nervous about POR.

Please let us hear about your Piano man experience. Is he there every night?

Also, where is Raglan Road?

Have a great vacation!!!!

Glad to hear that you are having such a good time! We love POR too and even after I bought DVC last year, my kids asked to come back to POR too!LOL It's definitely a favorite for us and all the CMs there have been really good to my pin-trading kids.

This year we are doing POR for a week 8/20-27 before moving to BCV. I can see this pattern continuing even with DVC.

Have you noticed any repairs going on at POR? Someone else just posted that the roof was being repaired in their Mansion building and that made it hard to nap in the afternoon. Since we are planning afternoon naps, I hope they are done with repairs. We arrive June 13th.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time!

Thanks for the live reports from POR, where we're heading next month. :cheer2:

Couple of questions: Is there a frig in your room? Did you have to request that, if so?

Also, which building are you in? and where is it in relation to the main building, pools, etc? We stayed at POR four years ago and just took our random room assignment. I'm wondering if I should ask for a specific building this time.

How was your dinner at Boatwrights? and the piano man?

Thanks for the info....

I'm very new to all of this so I hope you don't think I'm stupid. Is POR, Port Orleans Riverside. We have an unexpected trip to FL this weekend and I just got off the phone making reservations for PO Riverside in a standard room for Monday and Tuesday nights. Taking my husband and 2 boys, 14 & 12 and daughter, turned 9 last Friday. We have never been to WDW so I have no clue what to expect. We are only getting to go to MK on Tuesday. Thought we would go to Downtown Disney Monday.

I was reading all your posts, can you request things? What kinds of things can you request? Any suggestions or tips for us.

I'm really starting to panick!!!

There is a night time rocket launch from the space center this Wednesday (launch window 6:11 pm - 7:11pm, Delta IV rocket with satellite), so be sure and watch the skies that night! :goodvibes

Bumping for Pam... I hope she can give us another update either from WDW or when she returns to NC!! :thumbsup2

Hi,

We will be heading to POR in exactly one week...woohoo!!

I am also curious about the refrig in rooms...in the past when we have stayed at POR, they were an extra charge. Now that the rooms have been renovated, are they "standard" in all rooms or still an extra charge?

My kids love Bob Jackson--piano man--I think he will be there next Thursday when we arrive. Can't wait!!

Have a great time!!

Hi there. We're back home now. Okay - the piano man was hilarious. His name is Bob Jackson and the only way to describe him is WHACKY FUN. He is there Thur-Sat I believe and it's 8:00 - 12:00. He may be there on Wed, I'm not sure. He sings a wide variety of songs and the audience participation is front and foremost a part of the show. I had to dance with some other females in the Rockettes line-up during "New York New York.

Raglan Road is at DTD - near Portabello Yacht Club. We loved the food and the entertainment. The food was so good I venture to say it was my favorite meal of the trip. That cod dish was sooo good and so was the pasta dish.

We're back and I wanted to let you know that we did go to the main pool. It was pretty good...but you must keep in mind that we are use to Stormalong Bay and the Volcano pool. It didn't live up to those standards, but I enjoyed the pool at Ol' Man Island nonetheless. Especially given the price difference of POR vs. the deluxe resorts. The slide was kinda fun. My DH and I were almost the only adults going down the slide. I venture to say we were indeed the only adults sans kids gong down the slide.

I hope you enjoy your trip in August. You'll be needing the pool during that time, huh?

I would highly suggest taking the boat to DTD. It's a nice ride and very relaxing. It's a big perk of this resort.

Thanks for the info, Pam.

What about the 'frigs in the rooms? We're heading down in a little over three weeks and my kids are so excited!!
