It's just me and my 16 month old son. We were put all the way over in Magnolia Terrace which was quite a hike to the main building but have a bus stop right behind us. I definately don't care for this resort as much as POFQ but it is still nice.... quiet and peaceful.

The parks seem VERY crowded to me, especially MK today. But I had called for ADR's last night and got both of what I wanted. And then today we got to Epcot early and were tired so went to the Mexican resturant early and got right in. This was at 4:50 when adr wasn't until 6:30.

There are lots of holiday decorations up already... garland and a huge tree on the right side of Cinderella castle. And they are playing Christmas music already!

Anyway, that's it for now. Not sure what we are going to do in the morning, haven't decided yet...

Aaaawwwhhh, sounds heavenly.

Can I ask if you are on high-speed, or dial up?

I was there at POR two weeks ago, and also got a mansion not near anything. I actually started driving to the food court and bus stop since I was so tired of so much extra walking! I also preferred POFQ since it's closer together and less chance of getting a room out in the middle of nowhere!

Hope you and your little boy have a great time!! :)

I'm on dial up... it's really not that bad!

I don't have many reasons to go to the main building but I haven't used the East depot yet, lol. I headed to MK via the main building just to see how the walk was and then I came back from Epcot via the main building because baby and I needed dessert! But tomorrow I plan to use the East depot and see how it works out.

Let us know how you like the main pool area if you make it over to Ol' Man Island!

Thanks for reporting live.

Are you using dial up by choice? I thought that each room had a high speed connection for $9.95 a 24hr period.

I was at POR two weeks ago and LOVED IT. I prefer it to the French Quarters. I have stayed twice before at the Mansions and thought it was an easy walk over the bridge to the food court and I got the bus and the main depot there. In the past 7 years I have stayed there 8 times and fall in love more and more. I wish I could just move in permanently.

This time I was in building 18 in Alligator section. First time there since the make over. Nice new green tile on the fllor with tile that makes it look like a mat is on the floor. My mother and I loved it. POR is our favorite resort. Even though we ar DVC members at Old Key West - which is our second favorite resort. Sorry that your think it is so far from anything. Each time we are there - like 2 weeks ago - we always mention people who say on the board that this resort is too far from anything, they don't like the decor, etc. We really tried to see what other people are disagreeing about but are baffabled about any negativity with it. The plus is the Banna Toast for breakfast at Boatwrighers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the meal and this resort.

I've stayed here 3 times I do preferr the Mansion over AB but mainly because I don't like climbing stairs. I did not fine the walk all that bad. And now that there are coffee poys in the rooms you really don't need to run over to food court first thing in the morning for coffee. I fine the walk very nice and would not hesatate to stay here again but like a lot of us I want to try other resorts. I will be at POFQ this time but have easy access to POR so 2 for one is a perk.

We stayed in building 16 in the AB section. Walks were about 3-4 minutes to the main building and bus stop.

Maybe she just prefers to pay $.75 for dial-up, instead of $9.95 for high-speed.

Do they still have that pretty gazebo in front of Magnolia Terrace, on the side overlooking the water? That's why I hope I get that building when I'm there in 2 weeks. Also, have you been over to Scat Cat's Lounge at POFQ and seen their live performer?

My DH and I just returned from POR on Tuesday night. We were in the Mansions in Acadian Room 8067, which was a water view. After I had booked it (and could not change it without a fee) I saw people here mention that they thought the water view was a waste of money and that it was really not a water view. We had a view of the pool if we stood on our tiptoes, but it was very close to the pool and the closer to the lobby/food court than we have every been! We were quite happy with it and will pay for the water view when we return in December 06. Before this trip we were always close to the parking lot and this time we felt we were really in the middle of things at the resort! We both love and miss POR and I am already counting down the days to our next trip!! :Pinkbounc

Also, this was the first time we spent time in the River Roost watching Bob Jackson!!! Great fun (and even better after 10 pm when a lot of the kids are gone)!!!

So has the crowd eased up at all? We just got back on the 8th from our honeymoon at POFQ....I agree it did seem a lot busier but we still got to do everything we wanted.

So what was the temp today (make me jealous)? We came home to very cold weather.....I want to go back already - enjoy the rest of your stay.

I did not what to assume anything. That is why I asked the OP if she was using dial up by choice. It also could be that she does not have a high speed modem. I was looking for confirmation from the OP that the highspeed was avaiable.

That is why we always pay for a water view. Our first year we got a corner room in bldg 14 with a view of the river, this time we got a pool view in bldg 18. We were spoiled from the first year so we were a little disapointed this time, but I'll keep paying for a water view so we don't get an outside view facing the parking lot. I like being in the middle of the resort, it really makes you feel the theming more!

I love live reports and it's exciting to hear the Xmas decorations are going up. We'll be there in 12 days - staying at the Dolphin. Can't wait.

Keep it comin'

Yes they still have the gazebo in front of Magnolia Terrace, but sometime between when I was there in July and October they took away the attached bench that went around the insider perimeter of the gazebo. They now only have a white bench then could squeeze in three people. I don't know why they took it away and I forgot to ask. But I do know from July that it absolutely was not rotten or anything.
