LIVE from PoP! Crowd report, etc

I read elsewhere that it is usually very slow right after Labor Day and about two weeks after because of the kids going back to school and since 9/11. It spooks people to fly around that date for some reason.

ASAJ: We will be there the 1st week in Oct.
How crowded is "Crowded"?
Thanks!
We went Oct 1-7th or so last year and it was more than usual. About 40-50 min waits on ToT/RnR in the early afternoon (say noonish-1pm) and Fantasmic that evening was completely packed 15 minutes prior to show time. No seats, at all. Same for the Lights show, the car one, completely packed but unsure if they were turning people away for that one like Fantasmic.

Thanks for the reports DanaHesson!
Can you tell me about the love bugs??? How many are you seeing? Are they swarming? I know that people are reporting they are just starting to come out in the FL area. How bad are they in the parks today?

IS THAT what they are called???? There were tons the first couple days, but not so many today.... The crowds are about the same, maybe a SLIGHT uptick today at magic kingdom, but BTMRR and Buzz were both walk ons... We went to Typhoon Lagoon this morning. The shark reef swim thing ROCK!!

Keep those reports coming. We are living vicariously through you until we can get there too.

Yes, it is a coastal/south thing. For some reason those bugs only affect the coastal south. I don't understand it. I hated dealing with them in Louisiana. I don't miss them at all!!!!! They are black bugs that are stuck together, back to back. Here is another DIS thread about them. There is a picture (drawing) of them on post 13.

Is that what you saw? They usually come out in May and September. (Maybe it was end of April???) I do know beginning September because we always had to deal with them at DD's birthday parties. I was hoping the end of the month would help with fewer bugs.
Thanks for answering that question. Let me know how they are each day that you are there, if you can. BTW, they love white. Try not to wear it. They will be attracted to you if you do.

YES it is love bug season here in Louisiana. They are everywhere. I did not know they get those in Florida. As long as they are gone by September 30 :) when we head to WDW. :cool1:

OT for a second.
Pambo'shouse, what part of Louisiana are you in? I was born and raised in LA until 2002. I lived in Livingston Parish, in Walker. Both DDs were born there. We moved in 2002 so LA is really "home" for me. We go down 2 to 3 times a year. I really miss the food. However, I have to admit I LOVE NC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI TLHB70

We are on the Northshore. I grew up in Metairie and my DH and I moved to the Northshore in 1995. A friend of mine moved recently to NC and really like it too. Come back home :wave2:

I don't have to ask why you are not a Saints fan. You know us diehards we can't ever give up!!

Great to hear the low crowd levels.

We are heading out tomorrow, somewhere between 5-9 a.m.

On the love bugs, they only place I remember them being so many and bothersome was AK, and this has been the last 2 Septembers we've been there.

No. I really never have been a Saints fan. Sorry. :guilty: Good for you, though, still supporting them. :thumbsup2
We may be going to the Panthers and Saints game there over our holiday. We are thinking we will be down for Christmas. If so, we hope to make it to the game. If so, we will see the Superdome and downtown New Orleans for the first time after Katrina. We have flown into N.O. airport twice since Katrina, but we haven't been downtown yet.
