Live from OKW

Hi everyone
I wanted to get some info about OKW anything you can tell me.
We check in fro the 16th -26th
we have a one bedroom and requested to be near HH with an elevator if possible due to an issue with my sons leg. We are using DME and I wasnt going to rent a car. I wonder if I should now.

I wont be checking in til around midnight my first night. Is this going to doom me to a bad location?

Near HH will only be granted if it states on your reservation "near Hospitality House"

It states that on the member website info, under vacation info. It's no longer something that can be requested.

rbuzzotta... It would be great if you can check on the MS site to see if indeed you did have Near HH stated on your reservation, so we know if you were bumped from that catagory for sure, as appose to "you think"... Of course when you have time... not now while on your trip lol

If you need a special type of room becuase of your son's leg, I suggest getting a doctor to fax them over something and make your room request a medical one. HTH

I did that thanks laura. for some reason when i called to check on it they had us blocked in a handicapped room.

I dont think they have a choice... if you must have certain things in your room, they only way they can give you that, is if they give you a handicapped room.

FWIW You would not have a long walk to any of the bus stops, no matter where you are located. And to get to the HH all you have to do is jump on any bus, since the HH is the last stop for all of them.

Now, climbing stairs on the ohter hand... That might be tricky.

Rosemary, glad you guys got there okay. Sorry it wasn't the awe-inspiring welcome that you deserved with all the added difficulties, but glad you are having a good time. I was going to ask how that waterproof cast was working out, but it sounds like there have been a couple of bad experiences. Hopefully your DD is still getting to enjoy the pool.

We can't wait to get there Thursday! It is getting so close that the wait is becoming a little painful. Hopefully we will see you when we arrive. I will definitely look for you and give a shout out if I spot any of the telltale signs. I am requesting something on Turtle Pond or South Point, so we might be neighbors. Hope the rest of your trip goes more smoothly for your DD! See you soon!

I have stayed at OKW 3 times and will be staying there in 10 days. That is my only complaint about OKW - I find the CM's I have had to not be very enthusiatic. When we first became members - we didn't even get a welcome home or any fun and happy greeting. It was disappointing to say the least. I love the resort itself but I think the CM's at OKW check in should be a little more cheerful. Again, we have stayed there 3 times and notice the same thing every time. They are efficient - just not enthusiatic.

Well, it was an interesting day yesterday. DD lost her key and had to get it replaced!!! It was a blessing in disguise!!! On check in, the reservation got messed up!!! Surprise!! LOL!! She had us checking out yesterday!! WE don't check out until Sunday!!! All our keys then got shut down!! It took well over an hour to fix the error that happened (according to the CM) on check in!!! It was not fun having to wait as we were heading to the parks and this delayed us. The CM had to get the IT department involved. It was a mess.....but this CM was great and pleasant!!

So, now I sit here as the pool is closed due to thunderstorms in the area and wonder why I have not gotten my T & T!!! We are staying 7 nights and should have had it yesterday but now that the CM messed it up on check in, I will have to call!! I don't care about the trash as I always take it out myself, but I would like some fresh towels!!!

MGM and Epcot were not too busy yesterday!!! I love the new Toy Story ride!! LOL!! WE enjoyed the day and now hope the sun shines again so I can go out and relax at the pool!!!

rbzotta, I just got back from OKW and was at the pool when your DD fell on the pool deck. I felt so bad for her being in a cast at Disney. I hope she is having a good time despite the cast. This was my first time to OKW and I loved it. We usually have stayed at BWV....which I love....and I like it being a more laid back place. Have a safe trip home.

She is going to give me heart failure this trip!!! LOL!!

Seems that majority of the surface area's around here are slippery!! She also slipped in the room on the tile as well!!

We do have a wheelchair for her now. Got one from the front desk but I must say, it is in tough shape!! Literally taped together!! But it works.

Did not get T and T yesterday. They said it would come today! We shall see. Last 2 trips I also had to request T and T and full housekeeping although it is stated on my reservation!!

Well...............off to the pool. Just came back from watching the Bucs practice!!! This vacation has been relaxing so far!!! LOL!!

Sorry we haven't had a chance to get up with you since we arrived. We've had our eyes out for the telltale red cast, but haven't seen it yet. We arrived last night later than we planned, due to leaving a little late and then running into multiple heavy rainstorms in route. We ended up eating at Olivia's and exploring a little before turning in after a rather long day.

We finally got out today and made it to rope drop at DHS. We had done TSM (and had another fastpass in hand) and RnR, and were in line for ToT when the gates finally opened for everyone at 9:00. We had lunch at 50s Prime Time and stayed a little longer than originally planned in the park. We were going to go back in for the late Fantasmic, but all of the DSs decided to go to the main pool and we decided we would just rest up for tomorrow. Heading to AK tomorrow and have a late dinner ressie at Boma.

Hope we run into you before you leave so we can say hello. Hope things have been going better for your DD. We are located in South Point in Bldg 54.

Yes, I was originally booked near HH but then added another night. I was not made aware that by adding to the beginning of our vacation, it changed our booking status! I was not told that our status would be changed.

We were originally told we needed to change rooms after the first night but would be waitlisted so we did not have to and they would 'link' the reservation. The waitlist came through.

Seems that the 'link' is what caused the check in problems which dominoed into the housekeeping problems now that I think about it. They had us checking our a few days into our trip which we were not, then housekeeping never came on the day it said on our ressie.

Next time, I think I will call a few days prior and confirm all requests and reservations.

Ok it sounds like they only had a NON HH room for you the first night and waitlisted for that to be HH and for the main reservation to a NON HH room, and that one came through first...

I have had issues with Hilton Head Island linking everything correctly with multi reservations, nothing like coming back from a day at the beach, climbing up 3 flights of stairs to find out your room key doesnt work (did I mention I was alone with 2 toddlers and 6 months preggo with my third?) Oh yes... good times

That lesson taught me to triple check with MS a month before our trips, and to fax all our reservation numbers and requests in about 2 weeks before our trip, and we have yet to have anotehr check in diaster.

I guess that sounds logical but I only wish they had explained it to me. May have been able to clear it up prior to checking into OKW. I called and spoke to MS to please note medical reasons why we wanted to be in an elevator building and close to the main pool!!!

Anyways, we worked out the issue of being close to the main pool by driving to it every day but the way the ressie was made/linked/whatever was messed up at check in and it just snowballed!

I just don't like taking time out of my vacation to sit at the front desk for over an hour trying to remedy something that should never have happened. Had I even thought my two requests for towel service would go un heard, I would have washed the towels again myself.

Oh well, it is over, but I will write to let them know of the mix up. Hopefully it will help others (including myself should I ever need that request again.......I pray no more broken feet!!! and once DH gets his knee replacement...........who cares where we stay on the property!)
