We are here at HH in a Grand Villa - building 18- with my family until Friday. We arrived Sat afternoon and stayed in a studio in the lodge (1133) - this was an NON-HCA studio and they had just cleaned the carpets that day. My sister stayed in 1111, which is HCA - for those of you that are interested. Sun, the rest of the family arrived right about 4pm and our GV was ready! We had inquired Sat evening about whether our request for building 18 would be met or not. While they couldn't "officially" tell us if our requests were met, we were told that we were able to get it. The CM told us that of the 5 GVs, 3 of the reservations requested bldg 18 and that requests are filled based on when the reservation was made. We called day by day at the 11 mo window at 9am every day and the front desk CM told us that we beat the 2 other requestors by 3 HOURS. We normally never request something as specific as a bldg or a room, but we figured with only 5 GVs, what the heck. Calling day by day as soon as MS opened definitely paid off!

So far the trip is going wonderfully. Sat we spent the afternoon at the pool, which was more crowded than I thought it would be on a Sat. and then had dinner at Kingfisher. I had the stuffed flounder which was fantastic and DH had a pasta dish with lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels and scallops which he really liked as well. The kids both got the fried shrimp and it was over cooked. My youngest DD, who is an extremely picky eater, but loves shrimp wouldn't eat it because she said it didn't taste the way shrimp should. I tried it and it was tough and rubbery. Overall, though, the meal was really good and we would go back again in the future.

On Sunday, since we were told that we wouldn't be able to get into the GV until at least 4pm (it was occupied on Sat night), my sister and I setup camp at the pool for the day. The kids had a blast and the pool wasn't crowded at all the entire day. The evening was spent unloading cars and grocery shopping. We went to Food Lion this time instead of Piggy Wiggly and it was less crowded and I thought had a better selection.

Probably going to the beach today and doing Secrets of the Marsh. It has been 2 years since we were last here and there seem to be a lot more free activities than before and the dolphin tours are scheduled individually now rather than at specific times on specific days.

I'll try to post later in the week, but so far we are off to a great start!

We were in the Building 18 GV for NYE. It is a great location and I envy you at this moment.

As for shopping, I always use the Food Lion. There is a great selection there, even though it is a it more of a trip than the Piggly Wiggly.

Enjoy your stay. We will be back there next NYE!

Glad to hear that you're having such a good time at Hilton Head. It's my family's favorite DVC resort. We're doing the cruise this year and both DH and I have regrets that we have to wait until next year to visit Hilton Head again. The GV sounds wonderful! Enjoy and thanks for posting about your trip so far.

Glad you are having a great time!!! Take a look at my countdown.....we will be there this weekend! Back to packing!
