Live from HHI

Simba's Mom,

Just curious - you said you tried out the sofa bed and it's comfortable to sleep on. What about for sitting? We were there in Oct. and found the new couch to be an "ejecto-sofa" I kept sliding right off of it. Granted, I'm short and my feet didn't touch the ground, but my DH who is 6'4" was very uncomfortable sitting on it as well. We pulled it out and put it back in thinking somehow it didn't close up right. Our kids didn't complain about sitting on it - but DH and I didn't spend much time on it. I'd pull a chair over from the kitchen table to sit at before I'd sit long on the sofa. Just wondering what other people think.
Eject-sofa, very good description. Several people were talking about that problem with the sofas on the tour. Someone suggested putting a towel on the front part of the sofa to give you the feeling you're leaning back. And someone said that it was the same problem at SSR. I don't know if it's true-since there are just two of us, we tend to use the chairs for sitting.

Only one more full day. Went on the member's tour this morning while Guy golfed at HH National. We ate lunch at Grumpy Grouper, after Sea Shack was too crowded. At Grumpy Grouper, we were the only ones until one other couple came in about half way through our meal. I hope they do better other times. Food was good, delicious scallops, but servings were somewhat small. Went to a recreation activity this afternoon, Birds of Prey, in Community Hall. It was OK, but not very much for kids. I noted that their refill station for the refillable mugs is now outside. No other news.

Today is my final day at HHI and I am already looking forward to my next trip. Although the weather has not been the best, it has been a very relaxing trip.

Yesterday, I began my day by walking over to the pier. As I got close to the pier's entrance, Disney CM's were preparing deep-fried turkeys. I was able to taste a sample. It was moist, not greasy, and very, very tasty. Unfortunately, we ordered a traditional overn roasted turkey. Later in the day, I enjoyed a round of golf with my DB-I-L at the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes. For those not familiar with the area, Palmetto Dunes is across 278 from the DVC resort, and just past the DVC Beach House. Later, after our Thanksgiving Dinner we walked over to the campfire with my 8-year old nephew. It was a fun time with one CM dressed as a giant turkey, and the other as a Pilgrim. I will post some photos next week after I have a chance to edit them on my other computer.

Simba's Mom has posted many times about how enjoyable Thanksgiving at HHI can be, and I must heartily agree. We are already planning a return trip. :surfweb:

So glad you had a great trip! So can you order a Thanksgiving dinner through the Disney resort? Or do they do some type of special meal you can attend? Just wondering in case we ever go at Thanksgiving time. :)

You can order a precooked meal from the resort. They send you the information about a month beforehand, to whoever has reservations over Thanksgiving (I don't remember the details since we ordered from Signe's and I'm not at home to see if we have the info-posting from Jacksonville Airport). And if you know Chef Gordon,he's one of the cooks.

We're back home now and I've downloaded (or is it uploaded?) my pictures, so I'll leave you with a few-
