Live from along the Trumbo Canal

Okay, Deb, now you have my mouth watering for some of that great looking cake.

This is building 46 taken from across the Trumbo Canal on the walkway to DD. Deb's villa is on the second floor on the far left in this photo. That is a wonderful location! Thanks for the report, Deb! :)

We love, love, love OKW.

Looking forward to more posts from your vacation.

Also, more info about that cake !

:cool1:

I'm going to need a report on that cake you bought!:rotfl:
Me too! Publix is one of our sponsors for the Florida Marlins telecasts, and they keep showing that darn cake! It looks incredible.

Great Report keep them coming. We will be at Old Key West in August then in December in a one bedroom and then again in May 2009 just booked in the Grand Villa. If you have any pictures of the resort that would be great. We never stayed there before. Love all the posts. I am so glad I became a member. also right now my request is for the hh if you think of anything better let me know tracy

So glad you got that wonderful building. Hopefully everything will be settled on your home soon.

We are currently counting down 34 more days until we are at OKW in a GV. We have requested the Turtle Pond area.

We were in a 2 bd in bld 46 for our last OKW stay, 2nd floor - balcony overlooked the canal and we enjoyed all the critters, too. We LOVED that building. Enjoy your week!

It looks like a stop at Publix is on the radar for us in September. That cake sounds great!

The cake is delicious. Lots of chocolate for the chocolate fans, but not bitter. Just the right sweetness, not a tough cake (very light). Really excellent. I'm glad I bought it - beats Disney prices for dessert.

We've had a great day so far today. Decided last night to try DHS today for opening instead of Epcot for EMH. We got there a bit before the park opened, got a great parking spot in the front section, only a few from the close end. Walked up along the back side of the entry (closer to the buildings instead of along the bus stops) and found a security post with almost no line, took only a minute to clear there and get in line. They had already started letting people into the park and holding you at the end of the first street. Saw where they are building American Idol (old Doug stage), but I'm not a fan of AI, so we probably won't spend any time there. Headed straight to Toy Story Mania (Will got us fast passes while we strolled up). What a fun ride. Great for all ages (finally something at DHS for all the family). Got about 90000 for my first attempt, got about 132000 for the second attempt on the fast pass.

We headed over to ToT (the guys rode and I waited) and then we were able to get FP for RnRC (again, the guys ride and I wait, but I don't mind). Also did Great Movie Ride with almost no wait (only the gangster side was open), but they have added some newer clips to the ride. We were headed out of the park when the Star Wars parade started up and it was really cool. Bill was rather excited to see the guy who starred in Willow as one of the guest visitors (he was Wicket the Ewok in the Star Wars series). Willow is one of his favorite movies.

Got gas as the Hess station - it was 3.83 yesterday and 3.93 today (should have filled up yesterday). Saw gas at the Chevron over at the Crossroads for 4.49!!! At the Shell by the Prime Outlet Mall it was 4.19.

Spent some time at the main pool which wasn't crowded at all. Left about 3 to clean up to go to MK for dinner and EMH. Dinner at the Plaza was good as usual. Did Buzz Lightyear and got Gallactic Hero the first time today. Only got Space Ace the second time. Got stuck on Tomorrowland Transportation Authority right near the old Tomorrowland Skyway station. We were stuck about 15 minutes before we started up again.

Did Philharmagic and met another family from Louisiana while we were waiting. It's always a good guess to figure that someone wearing LSU stuff is from Louisiana. Rode Haunted Mansion and saw the changes they did last year or early this year when they added more theming about the Bride (similar to what they have at DL). Lots of family photos have been added to the walls. Love the photos of the Bride with her husbands.

Watched some CMs fish a hat out of the lagoon around the Cinderella Castle by Sleepy Hollow, they used a really long grabber pole. Then the guys decided to head for Splash Mt and Big Thunder, while I decided to head back to OKW. It was fun looking at all the people lining the street for Spectromagic (a few hotel towels, a few beach towels, even on poncho used to hold spaces). Got to the bus stop and the bus was there, ready to head to the resort and I was the only passenger. 12 minutes later I was off at South Point bus stop.

We've only deviated from our plan a little bit so far, so it might be time for Epcot tomorrow morning or else we'll hit one of the water parks. Then AK for the evening for EMH. We'll see if I can make 9PM tomorrow. Not much of a late owl. More an early bird.

Thanks for posting Deb! OKW sounds great, would love to get DH over there sometime, maybe I can throw in how they have the tennis courts right there. He just loves BCV, though.

Deb - sorry to hear about your home. We lost ours in Feb to a fire and I joked that we would stay at WDW until it was fixed!!! OF course we are looking at at least four more months and DD begins pre-school in August..... but we still talk about it EVERYDAY!!! Can't wait to go back home!!!

Thanks for the report on that delicious Publix cake. I saw it in their weekly advertisement in our local paper (along with another great looking cake) and wanted to run out immediatley to buy it. Seeing that there are only 2 of us -I knew who would be eating the entire cake !!! So, I will tough it our until we have some Guests over !

Glad to hear that you are enjoying OKW and your Disney park time. We have had a love affair with OKW since 1992 and it's still going strong !!!!

I've been the one eating most of the cake. Bill has had a few pieces and Will hasn't eaten one. But it's my birthday next week, so I'm counting this as my birthday cake. Only two pieces left and I already had one for breakfast this morning.
