We checked in this morning about 10:45 and our villa was ready. Bldg 46, along the Trumbo Canal, Room 4621. 4621 connects to 4620 (studio) and we have a private stairway to the second floor. Nothing above us either. Wonderful view, spotless room. We had DVC coasters, pot holders, throw pillows on the king bed. The ice bin was already full.

We were unpacked by 11:15 and the guys headed to the pool. I headed over to Publix by the Outlet Mall and got some necessary supplies, including the Chocolate Ganache Cake that I saw advertised on the television last night on our way down. When I heard the cake described again on the radio this morning while driving on I-75, I knew I had to have that cake.

We've been over to DTD to get our PAPs and the DDE card (it's not plastic anymore, similar to an AP instead). Over to the Westside to see if we could find some sunglasses ($70 were the cheapest pair at the sunglass store - YIKES) for Will. Ate sandwiches over at Earl of Sandwich, a bit crowded at 2PM, but we were able to find several available tables on the patio. Checked out Ghiradelli's, much larger after the renovation, but still very crowded this afternoon.

We might be heading to TL later on this afternoon for EMH.

I'm sorry to say that no other member will be able to get 4621 at OKW because we are moving in and not moving out. It's so exciting to have walls and floors (none at home yet, still waiting for the insurance adjuster to give us the bad news). The villa has the newer sleeper sofa. Seriously, though, I could live here.

Wow, bldg 46, 2nd floor, great view. One of my favorite areas of OKW. Enjoy!!

:faint: I need cake now:goodvibes Please post a pic....

Sorry to hear about your house.....but I can understand about not wanting to move out.....my house is fine...and I did NOT want to leave OKW.:goodvibes DM kept saying how our villa was bigger than her condo;)
Have a great trip
Kerri

I'm staying tuned to hear the report on the cake too. We'll be down in 2 weeks and I may need to make a Publix run depending on your review.

Good to know you have the king size bed and don't have to slum in a studio!;)

What happened to your home, Deb?

Anyway, what a treat to get in a villa early. It just feels wonderful, doesn't it?

Do you like the new DDEs? Ours are the new style too. I like that it slips in our AP case so easily but have to be careful to pull out the right card especially at entrances to the parks as they are so similar now.

Have lots of fun!!!

This is building 46 taken from across the Trumbo Canal on the walkway to DD. Deb's villa is on the second floor on the far left in this photo. That is a wonderful location! Thanks for the report, Deb! :)

I hope you have a wonderful, much needed, vacation. :goodvibes

Deb, you are in my most favorite building and location in that building! LOVE the views from there. Just a word...You might not get replacement soaps T&T day. We had two different units in that building on our trip last November, and we never got fresh soaps and shampoos on either of our T&T days. Didn't matter though, because I LOVE that building!

Maybe they won't notice if we don't leave next Saturday, Diane. Think that will work?

BCV23, our house was flooded about three and a half weeks ago. Just an inch of water and sewage, but enough to require all the parquet floors and carpet pulled up, all the wood paneling pulled out and two feet of sheet rock cut out in five rooms.

The cake was heavenly. Man, oh, man, what a wonderful cake. It costs $18.95 at Public (Chocolate Ganache Supreme Cake), but the best tasting cake I've eaten in a long time. Much better than the $50 Mickey shaped cake we got at the GF a few years ago for Will's birthday. I'll have to put the photos somewhere on the DIS, so I can post them here.

We did EMH at TL tonight and that was fun. At 7PM, they closed all the attractions to get all the non-resort guests out of the water park - including the wave pool. Then about five minutes later, they let everyone wearing a wrist band back in. Crush n Gusher was open until 8PM for the resort guests and all other attractions were open until 10 (except for the Shark Reef, that closed earlier).

Will slept in the car all the way from Quincy, FL (where we stopped last night), so he still has energy to burn. He wanted to head to the MK before it closed, but Bill and he decided to head to the Community Hall to play darts for a while instead.

Tomorrow may be Epcot or DHS in the morning, with MK in the evening (dinner at at the Plaza). And maybe a little more TL in the afternoon.

Did I tell you I love this villa??;)

Oh Deb that's the room we had last october! DD,DSIL, & DGS were in the studio. Have you found my heart laying around anywhere? Because I know I left it there. LoL It was our very first time staying at OKW and we absolutely fell in love with it. DGS and I loved sitting on that porch watching the boats sail by. I so envy you. How I wish I were there. I too told DH I could actually live there in that villa. Have a wonderful time. :)

Doc, thanks for sharing your gorgeous picture!

Wow, bldg 46, 2nd floor, great view. One of my favorite areas of OKW. Enjoy!!

Can one ask for a second floor and either 46 or 45 and get what one ask for with any certainty? Or is it just pot luck?

Mo

You can make any request you get, but it is just that...a request. We don't usually make any requests now that non-smoking is a given. We take our chances with our locations, and while there are some that are better than others, there aren't any really bum ones at OKW.

Here is a link to the cake at Publix:

I was sitting on the porch, eating my Frosted Miniwheats (sounds like a commercial, doesn't it), when I saw a family of otters climb up on the grass from the canal. By the time I got my camera ready for a photo, they were gone.

The new sleeper sofa in this room is very different from the others. It might be more similar to SSR, but I don't really remember how that one opened. The mattress is in three sections. The cushions are removable, both the bottom ones and the back ones. Then I had to figure out how to open the thing after I removed the cushions. Luckily, I have a degree in Engineering. :lmao:

Deb, I'm so sorry to read of the flood in your home. How horrible. You need a WDW vacation right now, I bet.

Where are you going today? Have fun!:cool1:

That looks like a delicious choice for our anniversary cake!;) Sometimes chocolate cakes are disappointing, they look great but they lack something...but you're saying that's not the case here?

I would love to see the otters around OKW sometime, and I've loved passing by those villas when on the canal. Your location is truly excellent!

Bobbi:)
