Live from AKV club level...now BCV

I was surprised at the number of people who seemed to use the lounge as an all you care to eat buffet. But that did not deter our vacation it just gave me a good way to show my children how to act and what maybe one should not do.

People are paying BIG $$$ (or in our case, BIG points) to stay at club level, and the biggest perk is the food in the lounge. I'm not sure I understand why people shouldn't eat as much as they want??:confused3 We definitely plan on using the lounge a LOT for breakfast (we'll eat until we're full I'm sure) and also for the evening appetizers. I just don't see how doing that will show my children something "wrong".

They are still doing it in the villas between 8-6pm. I checked in early though to drop off insulin and get our room keys with dxDDP. The woman who checked me in at the BC seemed to have an attitude....first time I've felt that way at BC/BCV. Far more importantly she somehow managed to assign us inaccessible rooms when we were blocked for an accessible 2 BR. It eventually was straightened out but that wasted quite a bit of vacation time and still wasn't done quite completely. However, Cissy and Vincent at BCV checkin were great in helping straighten everything out.

The villas and room at the Polynesian were all quite clean. The three have completely different theming so hard to compare. Each had a couple minor problems/missing items which were quite speedily addressed.

As for Dunes Cove (is that right?), we saw them working on the tile as well as applying some kind of patchwork. Yesterday, a material was sprayed all over the pool surface and then smoothed with trowels. Both the pool and whirlpool are filled now and a couple guys were doing something there this afternoon. We've heard different things about when it will open. No lift spotted here and if my DH had seen one at SAB, I know he'd have told me. Of course, it's so large he could miss it.

Flying Fish was excellent and we had fantastic service. Much better in that department than Narcoossee's. Things like filling the wine glasses, replacing ice teas, etc.. Tonight we're headed to YSH.

Sorry to hear this about your checkin! Glad they took care of it, but that must have eaten up a ton of your time!

I sure was hoping they would be installing pool lifts. We have written several letters about it. We've received phone calls back, but only saying the info was forwarded to the correct dept.

I'm happy to hear FF was excellent as usual. BIL & SIL also enjoyed it!
DH & I were just discussing returning to Narcoosee's next trip. It's been at least 15 yrs since we've been there. Is it worth the trip?

Hope Yachtsman was great!

Are you staying in a roll-in shower accessible room?

We just returned from AKV CL today and want to report that we did not get a newspaper our entire stay. We did have turn down service each night and one night we even got a special chocolate AKL heart left on a bed. It is strange how the service is not consistant.

shovan, we were in accessible rooms at all three resorts. At AKV, only the one bedroom side was accessible as we were warned at least twice.

YSH was excellent. As for Narcoossee's, our daughter would give it a big thumbs up. My DH and I thought the service although extremely friendly did not match the price. The location is so beautiful and we have so many great memories of the restaurant, it is nice to get back occasionally.

kgc07, it does seem inconsistent, doesn't it? Did you enjoy it? We loved ALV concierge.

BTW, the pool probably opened yesterday afternoon. The fences were removed in the am and there were WDW CMs prepping it yesterday am. It was funny how many different dates we were told for opening.

We're back home. Our flight sat on the runway for about half an hour while two storm cells passed. WDW and the area really need rain. The canal by BCV appears to be down about 15-18 inches.

I wonder if you had the same CM we did at check in ~ lots of attitude with little skill. She complained to us that she did not have the resources to do her job, and they had little space. I am convinced that she totally messed up our ressie, which I had confirmed with MS, and had a written confirmation for. It took us about an hour to check in ~ YIKES! There were other guests around during our ordeal, and they said that check in was a joke for them, too. Also, the CM making reservations, etc. messed up our priority seatings, etc. We asked about the activities at the resort for Easter, and she said that she had gotten an email about it, printed it out, and someone took it. If I wanted to know the activities, I would have to go to the main desk at the BC!!When we spoke to guest services, and eventually the head of guest services at the YC/BC/BCV, he could not have been less interested. Perhaps that is where the attitude is coming from...

I checked in at BC not BCV.

Besides assigning us an inaccessible room, she gave me the wrong card to call for room ready and failed to give me the welcome home packet.

Again, I am SO sorry we missed you at the Poly. Yes, saw Seaspray in the elevator!

Welcome back to your (real) home. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip? :goodvibes

You certainly have gotten me interested in BCV. Do you think a booking for May is possible 7 mo. out? What's easier to book.....a 1BR or a 2BR?

When's you NEXT trip? :smickey:

I think they work both at the BC and at the BCV. I wonder if it is an overall guest services/ check in issue?

Completely agree about the service at Narcossees. Food was wonderful, and while the service was friendly it wasn't all that great. Empty drink glasses seem to be the way I judge service. Citricos, amazing service :thumbsup2. The only bad service we had was at ESPN Club, which was truly horrible (it took forever to get waited on, then the food came out before the drinks, and it took until the check to get drink refills).

Very confusing in their inconsistency. I was at AKV CL from 5/15-20 and we did get the paper each weekday morning.

That's strange, we were there from 5/18-23 and never got a paper. I wonder if someone took ours before we got up.

Hmm maybe someone did. I usually went out to breakfast at about 7 or 7:30 and normally I saw papers at each of the doors. I was in 6206 by the way. So I was on the side with the sunset savannah.

We did have a great trip. The parks weren't too busy, we had some great meals and lots of family time. We're not heading back until October. We avoid the hotter months.

I think May may be easier to book than many months but not really sure. If I were you, I'd try day by day at the seven month mark at least for the first night. MS can probably let you know at that point how it looks.

I don't know if one or two bedrooms are easier to book. There are 25 dedicated 2 BRs with two queens at BCV that might work well for your family if they're not all booked. I know that's the configuration I would have preferred when we traveled with all three of ours.

I was sorry we didn't meet either. Good luck booking BCV for next year if that's the route you go. Oh, be sure to first book your home resort to make sure you have something. Happy planning!

Thanks for the info.! So are the two queens in the second BR and a king in the master? Are you happy with the rooms there....in good shape? Done nicely?

We avoid summer as well......back in late Sept. I'm CONVINCED we'll meet one of these days! Again, welcome back! :goodvibes

Happy to hear that YSH was excellent!!

Thanks for your trip report!! Glad overall it was a good trip! What's your Oct. dates? We'll be there from the 26th -1st!

All DVC 2 BRs do have a king in the master (Deb is glad;). Only some 2 BRs at BCV have two queens in the second BR. Others have a queen and a sleep sofa (can never remember if it's queen or double).

We love the decor of BCV. It's bright and sunny. There is a lot of white woodwork which they are constantly touching up. A couple times, the banquette seat has been stained. I've called and they've cleaned it but once without success. We used a pool towel the rest of the stay as a seat cover. But for the most part, we've been very happy with the cleanliness and upkeep of the villas.

I certainly hope we get to meet one of these trips, Woody!

Well, our dates are in flux. I did have the 26-31st but then changed it. Now I'm thinking of going for two 5 day DVC stays with a regular resort weekend in between. If we do that, I'll cancel our Dec. trip. Flying takes so much time these days. We had delays going both ways for the second trip in a row. Add security, etc.. Now I wish I hadn't canceled the last week in Oct.. I doubt I'll get BCV at this point.

And yes, it was a great trip. So many CMs were helpful, friendly, cheerful, gracious.....just magical.
