One of DS's eyes goes astray every now and then. It is not getting better and when it does stray it is bad. So tomorrow morning we have to explain to him that he can't have anything to drink or eat, then take him in to have surgery on both eyes. They will tighten the muscles on both eyes, from what I understand. There is a 20% failure rate. I hope they can fix it so he doesn't have problems in the future!
Please keep a good thought for him, I think we both will need the seditive!

Best wishes to your little guy tomorrow, Sonya, and to you and DH too! Hope it all goes smoothly and successfully. :)

Oh Sonya, I know how I'd feel being a Mom! Prayers for YOU & little Thor!

Bonne chance mon amie!

I had that surgery myself almost 50 years ago. He'll be fine. PD for you.

I hope everything goes well--sounds like there's a hig success rate!

prayers and good thoughts to you all from another one that has been through similar surgery.

but there is a greta success rate for facial and eye surgerys now days.

I'm sure everything will go smoothly! It will probably be harder on you than on him!

Merci Mishetta, and thanks everyone. I know it will be harder on me. ( I hope so! I can handle it)

I asked the nurse how they take the litte ones in. I've heard about letting the kids ride little cars into the room, also about giving the kids seditives that make them act "drunk" so they won't remember anything. The nurse said "We just take them. They know you wouldn't give them to anyone you don't trust"

WTH??? :rolleyes1

Right, my 3yo will gladly go with a stranger to a cold and strange place without me. And not cry. So that is what I am nervous about!

Plus the Dr said in the 20% that fail nothing can be done, some people have eyes that don't want to go straight. Glasses won't work on this, nor will putting on a patch. :guilty:

BTW- who are these guys?
:dance3:
They look like three dancing sheep to me!

Good luck for your little one. I will think of your family in the morning. :goodvibes

I will be thinking of Thor and both you and your dh today. pixiedust:

Good luck to you and little Thor pixiedust: My DD (17) had this operation on both eyes when she was 12. She had to have the same done again about 6 months later because the muscles were tightened slightly too much. Worked brilliantly  Have to say though, the whites of the eyes can look really bruised for a few days after. :grouphug:
