Little People, Big World ~ Season 6 ~

Well that's another example of how Matt doesn't have a "clue" when it comes to money and spending it - in a hysterical sort of way..

or when he went out and just decided to do the grocery shopping without telling amy who had already planned to do it so she walks in and there's double purchases.

he was like "what's the problem-i don't see a problem with it" while she's showing him how the fridge can't fit everything into it, telling him they can't conceivably eat it before it spoils.

i think matt is one of those 'big picture' people when it comes to money-they look at the big expenses but not how all the little ones add up along the way. this seemed to be more apparant at the begining of the series when amy was working while he was'nt and she was always stressing over how the bills were going to get paid, and then he'd want to make a big purchase and would justify it saying they'de have money coming in down the line to cover it while amy's saying 'but in the meantime we still have to pay for this, and this and this and....."-he just seemed oblivious to it.

TONIGHT!!! :happytv:

Jacob turns 12 and his parents give him a cell phone, but when he racks
up an outrageous bill -- with over 8,000 texts -- Matt and Amy doubt
whether Jake is ready for the responsibility. The bill is $2700.00!!!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh my! :faint: seriously???? You would think with the other 3 kids they would have a plan with unlimited texting. :sad2:

*unlimited text*

It is not a description of the cell phone owner's manual but rather a very wise investment to prevent such astronomical bills.

Are the twins in their first year of college? I swear I saw Matt riding his bike around the Ohio State campus at the start of the school year, and then today there was a film crew following around a very short person.

Are you sure you meant Matt....Matt is the dad. :confused3

I don't think anything has been stated as to where exactly the Roloff twins are attending college.

We're too early for that.

They're still showing us stuff from last year--I think they film a season ahead or something. They're never near real time as much as that other family.

I'm watching the re-run last week's BVI episode, and Matt's "best friend from high school" is wearing an Ohio State t-shirt. I wonder if he's out there visiting him?? :confused3 lol

Also, I'm seeing a new promo for this show tonight; it looks like it was taped much more recently than these episodes. Jeremy says "just graduated" and Zach says "going to community college". I had read that both boys were going to a nearby community college, so I guess that's true.

They don't look miserable in the promo, so I'm hoping that things are better between all of them by NOW. I'm optimistic. :cool2:

Anyone else ever notice how sad Jacob looks all the time? And it seems to be much, much worse since Mike died.. Although Mike was an adult, it almost seems like he was Jacob's only friend and the only one who really wanted to spend time with him..:confused3

Yeah, I messed that up, Matt is the dad. Sorry, I don't watch the show too often, I am sort of familiar with it and coulda sworn I saw one of the twins.

Amy was so concerned about Jacob's relationship with his girlfriend being too serious so I don't understand why she invited the girl and her family to dinner. I think that's encouraging the relationship which is a little too much for 12 year olds.

I've always thought that Amy was way too consumed with her children having a dating life. It's like she wants them to grow up to fast.

I get how kids will not be kids forever and allowing things to progress as they ordinarily would. I do not get why she encourages that behavior so young.

Another disturbing epi. :sad2: $2700.00 for ONE cell phone bill!!! :scared1:

WHY those parents do not have "unlimited texting"...I mean they WERE concerned about the phone and usage from the moment they gave the phone to Jacob. Not at all condoning his behavior with the OVER usage of it...but come on, omg, every time Amy threatened to take the phone away and then did so, you hear Jacob calling her "dumb" under his breathe. :sad2: He is wayyyyy too young for a phone.

Did I hear Molly say to Amy that "when she and Jacob were jumping off her roof".....what is up with that? :sad2:

I am glad Zach and his friend got the coaching job. I hope the boys do well at that, for themselves as well as for the league. :thumbsup2

I love to watch this show. I too wondered why the heck they don't have unlimited texting :confused3
Amy is way too nice....if my kids were calling me names..well :scared1:
I mean I am sure they do in their minds, buy you know... ;)

Darn, I missed it last nite, does TLC repeat Little People, Big World again?

A few mom's I know challenged phone companies when they received these huge bills for their kids texting. 2 of the moms I know had the charges dropped. I used to pay $15 for unlimited, but when we got a new plan, the price went to $20 and we had to add National calling to our plan, and U.S. Cellular said they could raise our rate again and it is now $25 for unlimited texting.

I was doing the Math and someone said Jake had over 8,000 texts. If those texts were within 30 days, that would be over 266 texts a day. If Jake is in school 8 hours and he sleeps 8 hours, this would give him 8 or maybe 9 hours to text, which is 33 texts an hour. So Jake would have to be doing a text every other minute in his free time. He would be doing absolutely nothing else except texting and waiting for a return text.

I really wonder if these two are going to make it.. I wish they would get into some sort of counseling or something before they end up like the "other two"..:sad2:

That's not really accurate because the 8,000 texts also includes incoming texts. A lot of times the texts they send are a couple of words so it only takes a few seconds.

I have a bad feeling that Amy and Matt are heading for a divorce:sad2::sad2: It seems like Amy is done with Matt she doesn't even try to get along anymore.

I can see Amy not calling Matt back but I don't understand why she didn't call the kids back:confused3

You're right - it's sad but true - over 250 text msgs a day for teens is the "norm" for many. :sad2:

Sorry, our cellular phone company only charges for outgoing texts, we don't have to pay for incoming. I know it is easy for a teen to do 250, but 2 of my friends kids had over 20,000 in on month. That averaged out to almost 700 a day. They told their phone service company that their kids would virtually have to be texting their every waking moment of their day.
