Little People, Big World

Patriarch Matt Roloff sets off to help three young Iraqi little people get some much-needed medical attention. The show drags at first as we follow Matt's travels, but by the end, buckets of tears are inevitable.

Matt Goes to Iraq

In the season premiere of Little People, Big World, Matt Roloff makes the difficult and dangerous journey to Baghdad to help get medical attention for an Iraqi family with three dwarf children.

Escorted by U.S. troops, Matt meets the entire family. The parents and three of their six children are average height. However, Bara'a, Ali, and Saja are little and suffer from physical disabilities.

Despite the language barrier, Matt immediately connects with the children, who generously offer kisses, hugs and smiles.

I love this show!!! :happytv:

I am curious to find out what happened with the house....as we left off last season, the contractors all left as the Roloffs owed them money!!!

OK DISer's who is on board with LITTLE PEOPLE, BIG WORLD, join me!!!:yay:

I did watch it. How sad seeing those kids over with no medical treatment. I hope he is able to help them out.

What a sad show. How can you not help but feel for that Iraqi family.:sad1: Those poor kids. It's to bad the doctor couldn't finish the journey. Matt said he's going back & want's to bring the dr back again. Those kids are going to need multiple surgeries and much physical therapy. (Just look at all the surgeries, etc Matt & Zach have had.) I don't think it could be done in Iraq. They'd be much better bringing them over here.

"The plane thought it was being attacked by mistles, but it was wrong." I can't believe he text'd that to Amy.

The new house looks beautiful. I guess they will focus on the remodel next week.

The season opener was such a beautiful show.

Matt is himself getting more immobile every season and to see him climb into the transport plane, etc. It made me feel there wasn't anything I couldn't do.
I really give him kudo's for taking the trip.

I was especially struck by how truly interested the kids were about his journey when he got back to the farm. It was a mature moment for all of them.

I hope they can get the boy some help soon. He needs help asap to prevent him from being in the older sisters condition. What a sweet family despite their disablities. When the middle boy was serving everyone watermelon, WOW, what a moment!

My heart was breaking when the older girl was crying on the xray bed...:( So sad.

Did anyone else think the father was trying to blame himself for his kids disablity because of his head injuries during the Iran/Iraq war? He was telling Matt he still had shrapnel in his head, I got the sense he thought it was his fault.

It was a great episode. Next week, I am sure we are back to typical Roloff chaos ......:):)

I was just coming to post about this episode. I have always enjoyed this show, but last nights show was truely touching. What a great insight it gave the rest of us people(who don't have military members over there)on what it is like just to travel there. Although it was just a small glimpse of everyday life there, it was quite eye opening to say the least.

OP here, my DVR did NOT record the show.....I cannot believe it. :headache:

I did find it repeating so I am taping that to watch tonight. DH & I love Little People, we were so mad last night when I clicked on my DVR and it said "recording error"...we just looked at each other and then I found it repeating so I will be able to see it. ::yes::

Any mention of their HOUSE??? I am anxious to see how everyone looks!!!

I loved this episode. I've been a fan of the show pretty much from day 1, but to see last night's ep just made me cry. Esp when the older girl (Saja?) was on the x-ray table sobbing from fear and pain.

I hope that Matt and CoDA can really help these kids..they need it so much.

We have this this show over here but im completley confused as the series just seemed to stop half way through.

yes, I found myself really focused, trying to see everything and get a grasp of what it is like there in Iraq. I agree, a small glimpse but interesting.

I LOVE this show!
Great family, great attitude & I really respect that they not only show the good but also show the bad. Matt & the DUI episodes was a great teaching tool.

I finally was able to see this episode and it was AWESOME!!! :goodvibes I was so impressed with Matt, going all the way to Iraq to help that family. ::yes:: Can you imagine 3 children like that, and they said that Ali may soon be like Saja and have no use of his legs. :sad1: I certainly hope he and CODA can help them and yes, watching that sweet little Saja on that xray table, crying in fear was heartbreaking. :sad1:

I caught glimpses of the house and it looks AMAZING. So much bigger, like twice the size.

I watch the show too Kar, but missed this episode. I hope I can catch it in repeats.

CHERYL!!!! :yay:

Well that is the one good thing about Little People, they seem to have allot of reruns during the week of the show....I am so sure you can catch it!!! It really was a great episode. AND the house was on the neat side!!!

I enjoy this show too. DH watched it with me, and he usually doesn't care for any of these types of shows but he was curious how the military would be portrayed in it.

I sure wish his story had been picked up by some of the regular media outlets. We never ever get to see these types of stories on the news about how our military is working to improve the lives of particular people, in this case, children. I was very pleased with how accomodating they were to Matt and the filming crew to let them come along on this journey.

I have also noticed Matt is having more and more trouble getting around as the seasons have progressed. Is this just him aging or is it part of his medical issues? I admit I haven't seen many of the original season so maybe I'm not aware of something. His ordeals have really made me more aware of the differences that little people deal with that I wouldn't have even given second thought to. The DUI issue really made me stop and think.

Anyway, I loved the show, and the bits of the house we saw were gorgeous...and clean too! I wonder if they hired a housekeeper?!

Did anyone notice when Amy said she'd love to open a bed and breakfast out of their home, and Matt commented something like "how would we do that, look at the mess, how would it stay clean?" and Amy looked like she was going to spit in his eye!
He's right, though. Amy and the kids seem very comfortable living messily, but not Matt.
He mentioned the many full bags by the doorway that were meant for the goodwill, but have been sitting there for months, he said. Amy looked straight at him defiantly and said she'll take care of it. But the stuff has been sitting there in their was since they started the remodeling. Matt said he was afraid to call the goodwill himself for pickup, because Amy said some of her stuff was mixed in. He also tried to get the kids to move the non-essentials out of the house to make room, but no one moved a muscle. I feel sorry for Matt. Its not like he can physically do the work himself.

Was that in the episode with Matt going to Iraq??? I totally missed that conversation completely and I watched the whole show (or I thought I did)!!!!

Maybe some Diser's can remember BUT I recall Amy saying something like the reason her house is messy is because she grew up in a home where everything was IN ORDER and she said that when and if she ever gets her own home she will not live like that at all. :rotfl:

I noticed the house looked a little more neat, too, but it could have just been that one spot!
It was funny that Matt texted Amy and told her that his plane thought missiles were being launched at it. That wasn't what happened at all. :rotfl:

The little boy was so sweet though. He told Matt he loved him. I just wanted to give him a big hug. I hope they can get help to these children.

I think that might have been last season. The only time they showed Matt at home with Amy on the new episode is when he was leaving for Iraq and when he first got back. There wasn't really anything said besides how his trip went and stuff. I think I remember the Goodwill conversation from an older episode.
