Little Ones Magic Hour (LOMH)- Questions

Yes, THAT is the biggest reason the LOMH is NOT very a good idea.
Funneling ALL of the EMH guests into Fantasyland at once is going to make it potentially MORE crowded than any other morning.

Oh, how annoying! I really had thought that this was for under-fives only. REALLY not worth it if its just a EMH for just Fantasyland. I can understand young kids wanting to come (6, 7,8 yrs old) but I really hope adults w/o kids won't try to take advantage of this. Why make little kids wait longer becouse you want to ride Dumbo with a short wait?

So how exactly is it age discrimination? Is it age discrimination that people (responsible ones)with children under 5 can not take advantage of the evening emh? We are talking about one hour, not an entire day.

I am sure there are plenty of kids 6+ who also enjoy Fantasyland rides, that don't stay out until after midnight at EMH.

The definition of discrimination is: to make distinctions in treatment. If you child is 5 or under, you can go get an extra park hour, if your child is 6+, you can not. Don't get me wrong, I think this is really great for families with children, I just don't know why it has to be limited to 5 and under.

Oddly enough, today I received a flyer for this program in the mail as part of the Disney Rewards program inviting me to visit WDW for this Magical Beginnings Hour. The only thing it says in the fine print is "guests are required to present a valid theme park ticket and resort ID". Once I get the official word from WDW, I will let everyone know. I have sent them an e-mail. I hope this won't become a "hot topic", I know WDW is just using this to target families with little ones to come for a vacation. It just needs to be fair. Just my 2 cents and I respect the opinions of others...

This seems like a lot of worry about nothing.

I am pretty close to 100% certain that if you showed up to LOEMH with a 7 year old that Disney would not turn you away at the door. They will not have a pack of CMs at the front gate analyzing every childs age. If 10 teenagers showed up by themselves, it might be a different story. In these type of situations, Disney is pretty good about sticking to the "spirit" of the rule vs. hard enforcement.

I just read our Disney Rewards newsletter, which outlines this plan in detail, even read the footnotes, and nowhere does it state that any resort quest would be turned away. It's clearly open to all Resort Guests with a valid theme park ticket and Resort ID.

Ditto.

Think I can buy a 5 year old on e-bay so I can get into the parks early? :rotfl2:

I'll let you borrow my 3 year old while I sleep in cause it seems to me that Fantasyland is just gonna be a zoo. ;)

I started a thread about this awhile ago. I, too, was wondering if the LOMH would turn Fantasyland into a zoo. If families wanted to get to MK early, but not necessarily for the Fantasyland rides only, where else could they go? Yep, I'm predicting Fantasyland will be crowded. And Dumbo will be even harder to get on (grrrrrr :furious: )

I have 1 "regular" morning EMH planned, and 2 LOMH planned for our 5 day trip next month. We spend most of our time at WDW at Fantasyland, and at first it sounded like a great plan. I'll just have to wait to see how it is turning out before I revamp my whole itinerary.

The thing to consider in this is that MOST teens and young adults:

A) Tend to like to stay up LATE, and then "sleep in."

B) The limited appeal to those age groups of "ONLY Fantasyland rides" may not be enough to entice them to get UP that early.

Always a a "ray of hope" in these things.

Hey Viki, it looks like you and I will be at AKL at the same time. :cool1: :cheer2: Hopefully we'll see you all there. You can't miss us, we'll most likely have some kind of shirt displaying the words "San Antonio" in the title. :rotfl:

As for the EMH for LOMH, i really like the idea to limit the younger kids to this event mainly cuz DD is just about to turn 2. Now when she's much older and we have child #2, it will be a little harder to separate them so we'll have to see how that happens as i'm sure they'll want to stick together.

Well, I just hope I'm not there when you are, or you're really going to be annoyed with me on Little Ones MB day!

I was told today when I called today that you must have a child 5 and under to attend MB! I hope this is not true as my youngest is 7 and we were planning on attending (not alot of options due to our vacation dates). Has anyone else heard this? Thanks.
If they try to enforce this, I'm going to latch on to the nearest family with a child under 5 and be a temporary Grandma until we get thru the gates. So if you're there on 9/17, and some Grandmotherly type wearing a lime green Mickey glombs on to your family at the MK gates, it's only temporary and I'm really not crazy.

.

Hey! We'll be the ones lounging by AKL's pool, adult beverages in hand, :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: celebrating our 20th Anniversary, and nowhere near Fantasyland at any time of day!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Why have a special morning for LITTLE ONES if all resort guests are going to cram themselves into Fantasyland? I was disappointed we weren't going to make it down for this, but now I'm glad I didn't bother.

I have a hard time believing it's going to be that bad. My kids are 7 & 9 and we will not be taking advantage of this. I think people who generally avoid EMH parks will not bother getting up early just to go ride the "kiddie" rides for an hour - most of them will probably wander in around regular rope drop. As for those of us who flock to AM EMH's - we will be at the park that has regular morning EMH on those days. I'd much rather get up early to ride EE, TOT or RNR than Dumbo! Leave that for the little ones who can't get on the big rides! I would say don't change your plans because of crowd worries - you will probably be surprised by how many people DON'T take advantage of this. Good Luck!!

we're going in october...will they have the little ones magic hour then?

No, it's a special event happening only for a short time. Check the disney website. It has all of the information and special events. Hopefully it will be successful and we can take GD next year when she is 2. She going this October, so couldn't fit another trip in. She's only 17 months old and October will be her 4th vacation already.
