Ok I know that this Sunday is the first one so I am looking for information early but it seems like all my fellow DIS boarders always have answers so why not ask.
We are planning on being at the Aug 20th LOMH at MK

MK will open at 8:00 am for LOMH

Will they have the normal MK opening show a few min. prior to 8.

Will any of the stores (we want to go to Tinks Shop) be open at 8am

For us to have a shot at being a family to "open the park" is 7:30 to late to get to MK.

What time will the first boat go to Tom's island?

On EMH mornings, they ONLY do the "Good Morning" show for the EMH crowd (and not for those who show up at "regular" opening time).
Now, that applies to "full" EMH, so I can only GUESS that it also appies to the "Little Ones EMH."

Don't know abbout Tink Shop, but probably will be open.

I think to have a shot at "Opening Family" you should be there by 6 or 6:30am (no joke).

Tom Sawyer's Island opens late every day (like Toontown).

I'll guess between 10am and 11am (until proven wrong).

What is LOMH? Early entry for folks under a certain age or something???

Any WDW resort guest can attend it (just like a regular EMH), but during a "Little Ones EMH", only Fantasyland attractions are open, rides more associated with small kids and their parents (although I like 'em, too!)

In a "regular MK EMK" Fantasyland AND Tomorrowland attractions are open.
And that appeals to more teens and young adults.

I was told today when I called today that you must have a child 5 and under to attend MB! I hope this is not true as my youngest is 7 and we were planning on attending (not alot of options due to our vacation dates). Has anyone else heard this? Thanks.

Hmm .. when did these special magic hours begin? I am out of the loop. How many days of the week are they available? :confused3

Note there is no mention of age restrictions on guests, or even the need of BRINGING any children.

Thanks for the link, Robo! :thumbsup2

Here's the deal

Little One's Extra Magic Hour is intended for guests traveling with children, especially for those under 5... The intention was originally to have that be a requirement for guests of LOEMH. All information about LOEMH will be given to guests who's stay in a Disney Resort coincides with days of LOEMH.

So, here's the deal... Does it require that you bring a child aged 5 or under with you in order to attend the LOEMH? No, but that is not set in stone... Everything at Walt Disney World is in states of testing and adjusting.. If they find that too many guests without children are devaluing the experience for guests with children, some changes may be made to the policy. Irregardless (my favorite word, the "Ir" is completely unnecessary), Disney is doing the LOEMH to encourage families with small children to attend the park in what would otherwise be a lesser period of child attendance... if it doesn't work, or works in a way that doesn't promote a better guest vacation, it will be modified as see fit...

The fact of the matter is that the policy could change, even now, and the only time anything will be official is when guests start receiving collataral with their check in packets (which may have already happened, with its first test being in close proximity). I advise you wait until it directly affects you (say during a vacation you take with little ones) until you start worrying about it.

We'll see ya there!!! Will be there also with our DD1....then off to see the Doodlebops at MGMLater that afternoon.

I guess I don't get this and it seems like age discrimination in a strange way. People with children 5 and under are paying the same ticket/resort prices as people with children over 5 who also enjoy Fantasyland attractions. Now I need to look at changing my itinerary all around for a trip that is less than a week away. There goes my ADR schedule that I have been working on for 180 days! GGGRRRRR... :sad2:

No where here does it say anything about being 5 or under. I think this is very misleading. I plan to send WDW an e-mail today. Stay tuned...

So how exactly is it age discrimination? Is it age discrimination that people (responsible ones)with children under 5 can not take advantage of the evening emh? We are talking about one hour, not an entire day.

we're going in october...will they have the little ones magic hour then?

We are going to be in WDW next week (Aug. 20 - 27) but we're staying at the Swan. Are we eligible for this LOMH? We are traveling with 3 kids (12, 14 and 4).

I agree that it is frustrating that the policy on this appears to be undertermined at this point or at least no adequately communicated within the CM community, much less to the guests. That is particularly frustrating to those of us who have already made our plans. But our frustration should be directed at how WDW has organized the event, not the event itself.

But if, and that is IF, they do decide to limit admittance to groups with children under 5 I can't see that as discrimination. WDW isn't taking anything away from other resort guests who will still be able to take advantage of the regular EMH that week and enter the park at the normal opening time. This is just a benefit being extended to young children. And yes, an 8 year old pays the same price as my 3 year old, but there are a whole bunch of rides my 3 year old can't ride yet due to restrictions, and my 3 year old is much more likely to need a nap in the afternoon, taking us away from the parks for several hours. So even if my 3 year old enters the park an hour early, the 8 year old is still getting more bang for his/her buck. We should strive to make the world pleasent and comfortable for everyone, but things being exactly equal will never work because we all have different needs and wants.

That being said, I really don't see the MB hour as that great an incentive. Yeah, you get to line up an hour early for Fantasyland. You are still going to be stampeding towards Dumbo with the same group of guests who would be stampeding towards Dumbo at opening any other day of the week...families with preschoolers in tow. And if they let all resort guests in, its going to be even less of a perk, since everyone will be crowded into Fantasyland. I have a 3 yo and I am thinking we will probably skip it. :rotfl:

Yes, THAT is the biggest reason the LOMH is NOT very a good idea.
Funneling ALL of the EMH guests into Fantasyland at once is going to make it potentially MORE crowded than any other morning.

Swan and Dolphin are considered "on-property WDW resorts.".

Some of the hotels in DTD are not.
Depends on the contract with the US Military if the Shades of Green Resort is included in "special" resort privileges.

Does anyone know what characters - if any - are going to be present during this hour. We are taking our 3yo daughter Sept 17 and she is crazy about princesses.

Holly I.

If WDW allows some older children in with their families just because they have a child 5 and under as well, then it is discrimination. If they had a policy that said - one child 5 and under, one adult, no extra adults, no older children, then it would be age discrimination...

And what if you had an older, yet developmentally delayed child?
