Hi,

I'm new to these boards and I love 'em! Judging by what I've read, I consider my extremely lucky to have PS for CRT breakfast in Nov.
Question:
Do people ever dress their kids up in princess costumes for the CRT breakfasts? My DD's would probably love it, ages 2 & 9, not sure if son would want to be a prince, age 7. If so, do girls/and or boys partake? Are costumes appropriate? I wouldn't want to embarass them if not. Thanks for any feedback.
MVMCP on 12/3. Can't wait!!

Yes, costumes are appropriate! Some of the children do dress up. I don't recall seeing any little boys dressed up, but I'm sure that some do.

My little girls didn't, however they did wear their princess t-shirts. Also, my 2 yr old did dress in her Minnie dress at Chef Mickey's.

Have a great trip :)

My DD was 6 when we did CRT two years ago, and she wore her Cinderella gown AND crown! She was quite a hit with the princesses (especially Cindy!) and she loved it!

My DD 4, dressed up in her Tinkerbell outfit for breakfast at CRT and dressed up in her Minnie dress for Chef Mickey's. She was a BIG hit!!! It's fun, and the kids love it!!

My daughter was Snow White last time we went, and will be Jasmine on Saturday morning. The charactes love it, and she got tons of attention, even after we were done. She kept her costume on for a little while in the park before we changed her into "normal" clothes. All the CM's were calling her "Princess", "Miss White" , etc. And before we entered the park, we met up with Aladdin, and he asked her if she was in disguise because she acted like his friend Megan. It was great!

We saw little Captian hooks and Peter Pans at our CRT breakfast! They were very very cute!

OH FOR SURE...
the 2 times we've done CRT's 4 yr old dd has worn her Belle dress, for sure, they're not at all "out of place" wearing costumes there. Although next visit we'll be doing PSB, she'll probably wear her Cinderella dress. (she's wearing it as I write this post:))

Thank you all for your replies. I am glad to hear that they can dress up and not feel "embarrassed". My 9 year old really wants to be a princess but "only if other kids are too!" My 2 yo will regardless. thanks....

to wear when she eats at PSB in December. We hope to get CRT when the 60day mark comes.

I read this thread and then moved on, but I had to come back to it and speak my mind. Here it goes, for whatever it's worth.

I have a six year old daughter, a princess in every way. When she was born I had been an uncle for twenty years, during which time I watched a few other princesses grow up. Watching them grow up I resolved to make sure my daughter grew up knowing a few basic, but important, things:

  • There is NO PLACE where wearing a princess dress is inappropriate. Breakfast with the Princesses is more appropriate than others.
  • There is NEVER a reason to be embarassed to wear a princess dress. If other people don't have the proper commitment to fashion and sense of style reflected in her choice of a princess dress, that's THEIR problem.
  • Anyone who doesn't like my daughter's princess dress has to deal with me. As far as I'm concerned, they can go to hell.

They grow up too fast, and no matter how hard we try we can't stop them. Let them wear their princess dresses, and make sure you get lots of pictures. Save them and look at them when they're sixteen and you can't speak to one another without yelling, it'll really help. Save them to embarass them when they get married. Save them to remind them of how to treat the more important little ones that will come around someday... the grandchildren!!

But by all means, encourage them to wear the princess outfits whenever and wherever they want (with some limits, but not many).

I'll get off my soapbox now. Enjoy your breakfast, my princess enjoyed it immensely, although she was a little nervous and didn't wear a princess dress the first time, she's already said she will when we go again.

Have fun,
Kevin

Emilys_dad......I agree with you a 100% percent and I have to say I love your attitude...That is so refreshing!!! :

My 4 yr old dd is taking all 4 of her princess ensembles and wearing them. She will be in Cinderella dress for CRT. My 2 ds, 8 and 11, will be sporting pirate accessories at CRT in preparation for the Pirate Cruise. My 11 yr. old even wants to take his Harry Potter costume and take pictures as Harry at WDW. He resembles Harry and even wears the same glasses, and even though HP isn't a Disney character -- who cares?! We're there to have fun! I think Harry will look especially good beside Merlin after the Sword In the Stone Ceremony or in front of the Haunted Mansion. The 8 yr. old will probably want to dress as Ron Weasley complete with hair sprayed red. They get the 2nd HP movie and WDW all in the same month - absolute bliss!

Thanks Emilys_Dad!

I think i'll pick up a cheap Princess dress (or 2) after Halloween for my 3 year old DD.

I just picked up another princess dress at the DS for $10 off. They were running that and buy one get one free for accessories, so I HAD to get a couple of accessories too.

My 4 yr old DD will also be a princess at CRT in Nov. She thinks she is a princess EVERY day!! She is always wearing her dresses. I have 2 older girls 16, & 14, and they are already laying out a dress for every day of the trip.

They say that is what they remember about the trips we took when they were young. Dressing up & being in the "world" where REAL princeses live.

Like others I KNOW how quick they grow up, to have them be little and special for 1 week is wonderful to me. I figure if my older ones remember it as being very special...there MUST be something special.

DD, 8 was dressed as snow white in July at CRT. She looked lovely.

DS, 6 dressed as buzz, wings and all.

Needless to say they received a lot of attention! They looked adorable and did not feel funny at all...and DD is very sensitive about standing out.

We also had them wear park clothes underneath and we brought a comfortable change of shoes for DD who was wearing her snow white shoes. Afterward, we took the costumes off and packed them in our stroller (which we stuff our big kids in!!!), as it would have been too hot to wear them all day.

My 2yo DD will be Cinderella when we go in Dec. And If I can snag a Belle costume after halloween she might wear that too!!

We had lunch at the castle in April and we got to meet Cindy and her FGM, We took pics in the entryway in her Throne. I really wish my DD was dressed up then, it was her first trip and those pics are special.

My 4 yr old dd also has to have the right shoes and scepter (she calls them wands) and crown to go with her dresses. She explained to me that she needed a Belle wand because her Snow White wand just had Snow White powers, and she needs Belle powers. (She uses her wands to point at dragons and people and turn them into little furry animals.) It's that combination of Disney princess and Hermione from HP. For Halloween she's asked to be Norbert the dragon...again.

My 3yo DD will probably bring several outfits on our trip in November. She has a (yellow) Belle costume (bought at BJ's), a dancers outfit she calls a Princess one, a Tinkerbell tutu and several wands. Who knows what else we will be adding before our trip. (also several crowns and of course the shoes..)

What saddens me is when her brother (almost 8) will tell her - you're not a Princess! (big brothers! argh!) So when I call her a Princess she answers - I'm not a Princess, I'm just a girl. :(

But she still loves dressing up like a Princess. I cherish these days and wish I could slow them down. The girls next door are 10 & 11 and they are soooo wonderful with DD! They take her over there and play dress up. A couple weeks back they came back over here 3 times with different outfits on. Of course I took tons of pictures :)

Well, now that I've gotten totally off the subject.. :)

Jill

We'll be at CRT on Nov. 4th where 2yo DD will be wearing her Cinderella costume! She looks so darling in it! She insists we read Cinderella everyday so I really can't wait to see her face when she sees Cindy herself in person!!!!!
