My friend and I were watching the Little Mermaid platinum edition (amazing!) and we finished that and went to the bonus material. They have a virtual tour of the little mermaid ride that was never built. Its Incredible! You ride in shells on peter pan looking cables and theres two storys pretty much to it. Life on land and life on sea. you see ariel in the beginning looking longingly at prince eric on the ship then low and behold you dive (literally) under the "water". your entire shell goes into the under the sea song with sebastian. You then look at ariel in her grotto with her statue of prince eric. you turn and have a great look at the castle but turn in to Ursulas layer where you proceed threw a spiral of the little creatures that used to be mermaids. you see her looking at ariel and stealing her voice. You the proceed to turn and your looing straight at Ursula yourself with swirling water around her with King tritons crown on her head the room goes black and you come face to face again with an even bigger ursula who getting electricuted (amazing special effects here!) you made it threw and you entire into the kiss the girl song scene where your actually over ursula layer. you see eric and ariel in the boat with tons of land and sea life (lol) singing the song. you go into the next scene where sebastian waves goodbye and says you can visit him under the sea anytime. This ride is amazing1 and shou8ld have been made for real. go buy platinum edition little mermaid and go take theis tour! :goodvibes

Is there any reason as to why it was never built? I would love to see this built where they have that space from 20,000 leagues under the sea.

Thanks! That is very interesting. I never heard about that one, it would be neat to see it, I will have to check it out.

I just watched it as well. Seemed to be very cool, TLM is one of my all time favorite movies so I would love to see this ride at the park. I can dream. =o)

We watched our DVD last night too...I agree, that ride should've been made! It looked so cool!!!

dh said they're probably getting us ready for it to be built. Or getting us all revved up for it to be built. It certainly was very clever. We've watched the ride more than the movie

Just returned and the 20,000 leagues lagoon is no more. It's seems like it's a playground area. We saw Pooh and Tigger posing for pictures there last week. My DD is older, so we quickly ran through Fantasyland, and I recall thinking to myself that the lagoon was gone. But didn't give it any more attention than that.

I thought it was a pretty great concept too. Maybe the buzz generated by the DVD will lead to them building it!

yeah , clever, i guess theyre waiting to see audience reaction to the ride, then go and build if it looks popular. i personally would love to see it, it sounds wonderfull!

where is this on the dvd? i cant find it?! :confused3

It is on the 2nd DVD in the games and extras part.

This ride looks amazing. I'm very sad it never came to be.

I believe that Jolly ol' St. Nick will be bringing this DVD to my DD4 for Christmas, she sees the commercial all of the time & put it as #1 on her "list".....I hear Santa pre-orders with the rest of us. ;) So we cannot wait to see this bonus feature. And the thought of an actual Little Mermaid ride.....well, don't get me started. :thumbsup2

I would love this! It sounds awesome. Hopefully Disney will follow through with their original plan and build a Little Mermaid ride. Personally, I think people would flock to it! I knoe me and my family would!!!

I would love a Little Mermaid ride! And it sounds fantastic! Although I'd be a little scared being face to face with Ursela!

Personally, I think it would be better than the stage show at MGM...

Actually, I been there recently and know the parks quite well. Anyway, the playarea is actually not taking up alot of space that was used by the old attraction. Therefore, if wanted the Mermaid has plenty of room and then some. A map was posted on another board about this area. There were rumors that a huge attraction was coming to this location, such as another mountain. It was to be announced October 4; however, that was not the announcement - it was about the family instead. :guilty:
