This is my first disneyland post! I have just gotten the go ahead from DH that I can start planning a DL vacation in May 2010! Has anyone heard when the little mermaid attraction at CA will be opening? Have they even started construction? I would LOVE to see this! How about cars land, or the night time water show, any opening dates yet? thanks, for the info. I look forward to becoming a DL researcher as well as a WDW expert. :goodvibes

The have not started construction. They are moving some restrooms and then have to tear down the existing building. Sorry to tell you, the attraction doesn't open until 2011 or 2012.

The Little Mermaid's construction is to start this month and the attraction as well as the attached water playground is slated to open June 2011.

The World of Color is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2010.

Construction for Carsland is supposed to start late this year, and I believe is projected to be complete sometime in 2012. However, there will be three rides in Carsland, and I'm not sure if they'll debut the new rides as they're completed, or if they'll debut the new Carsland as a whole once the entire project is complete.

They cannot demolish the old bathrooms until new ones are in place. t least the Sun Wheel will be back in operation and the new boardwalk games operating. The Wharf should be mostly done and the bridge open. It is going to take a long time to reopen the lake and Carsland cannot be started until they are done with Ariel's and the bay. Slowly they make progress.

There are a lot of sites tracking and posting about DCA construction but Micechat has an easy to understand and use summary. If I want minute by minute construction shots then I would look elsewhere but for the latest summary that is the best place.

I was thinking World of Color was opening spring of 2010. I'm not sure where I heard that though. Did I see that posted at the park the other day or was I reading something on the boards or did I just make it up? :confused3 No one else heard spring 2010 instead of summer?

Yes, I've heard that too. As a matter of fact, the project trackers on Micechat say spring 2010. But an article that Al Lutz wrote a month or two ago said summer 2010. However, the project tracker seems to be the most recent information on Micechat, so I'll go with spring 2010 for now. The sooner the better. :goodvibes

Okay, so I guess I wasn't just making it up. I think maybe I saw it on a sign at DCA by the lagoon that said spring 2010. But I supose that could always change if they get behind on their schedule. We had a sign up here in our town when we first moved for a new restaurant that said "coming, spring 2003!". Well, spring 2003 came and went and the restaurant didn't open until 2007 or 2008! I don't think Disney will get that far behind though. Can't wait to see it! Sounds like it should be really good with lots of places to watch it from. :cool1:

Disney learned their lesson on posting approximate dates when they had the whole fiasco with Test Track at Epcot. It was what - another 4 years until it finally opened? I had a T-shirt with the original predicted opening day on it. Probably worth some cash, but I gave it away....

All things pretty much say coming in 2010. There may be a date on the construction wall that faces Corn Dog Castle.

Carsland will be so extensive - they will start that project as soon as they possibly can. It will take them probably a good two years to complete it, so I don't see them waiting until the finish TLM. Besides, all of that construction is backstage, so the public will only be able to see/photograph it's progress from the top of the Mickey Fun Wheel of Death. You can be the MiceChat folks will be living in those stationary cars..... ;):thumbsup2

Well, I'm glad someone will. I'm not going near that thing! :scared1:

I love it and will take your turn. I think micechat will rent a room a Candy Cane Inn then park there a boom truck, lol. If you see men on telephone poles facing DCA then you know they might be from micechat or some other site.

I remember when Soarin came out and people immediately had everything photographed and documented. It was weird the first time going there and already knowing what to expect. I already knew what Buzz, Nemo, and Toy Story was about. I had done Tower of Terror in WDW but could have gotten stuff on line.

I hope they speed up the wheel and make it go around 10 times.

How cool ! Didn't even know there would be a new mermaid attraction. Ariel is my girls favorite. They sure will be excited. Can you tell me any more about the the rides/ attraction will be ?

I am thinking Disney will open the Cars land about the same time the sequel comes out on the movie.
