My puppy Lucy ( pictures here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2603280 ) is at the vets today to be spayed.

I've got to tell you, I'm a nervous wreck! Some of you know I lost my beloved, Keena during a routine dental. She just didn't wake up from the anesthesia. :sad1:

It's going to be a very long morning waiting for the vet to call and let me know she's ok. I doubt much work is going to get done.

Spare a good thought for her if you can.

Good thoughts  coming your way!!! I hope Lucy does really well and is home very soon!

 I know how you feel. I was a nervous wreck when my dog Ruby got spayed! I am sending good thoughts to your Lucy. :lovestruc

I was a wreck with every animal that has gone through a spay/neuter...I am a worry wart though...

Happy thoughts!:hippie:

Everyone worries about that which they have no control.

Funny story... after I had Puggles spayed, I took my baby sister with me to pick her up. My sister was about 4 at that point.

She asked why Puggles was at the doggie doctor. I explained that even though Puggles used to be a girl, the doctor made her an "it." She got this really puzzled look on her face and said, "well, I can't wait to see her now. She must look really funny."

I had to explain that she just had her girl parts taken out from inside her and that she'd look the same but she'd have a boo boo on her belly.

I'm sure Lucy will do just fine.

Good thoughts coming your way. I hope you hear soon that Lucy is fine.

She did fine and she's waking up now.

I feel better now.

So glad to hear that.:)

More good thoughts coming your way as you try to keep "Lucyfur" quiet while she heals.

We always, always, always get the blood work done ahead of any procedure with general anesthesia to ensure that our babies can metabolize it and will wake up.

My kitty went blind during a routine dental. Hugs to you, I feel so nervous and can no longer go to the vet without worry! I hope your Lucy does just fine!

I'm taking my kitten Lily in to be spayed the week after Christmas and I'm already in a panic. I'm even upset that she's going to have to go without breakfast on her surgery day! It's going to kill me to leave her there overnight. And I don't know how we're going to keep her from running around like her crazy self once we get her home. Thank goodness I didn't have children because if I worry this much about my pets I'd hate to see what a lunatic I'd be as a mother!

I'm an ER nurse and was fully aware of the labs needed. Not only did I check a liver panel, a cbc and clotting times ( as she was going to have teeth pulled ) I had some of the tests rechecked the day of surgery ( the others had been taken a week prior ) Her full bill for a dental with a specialist was over $1300 and she still didn't wake up. So unfortunately, all the precautions in the world don't always work.

Lucy is home. She's pathetic. Sleepy and snuffly and sad. We're off with her all week to keep an eye on her....poor little worst. puppy. ever. :littleangel:

I just made an appt for my sweet little 6 month old kitten, Minnie, to get spayed on the 29th. I need support! I'm already a nervous wreck! :guilty: She's used to eating before 6am. OMG I'm going to feel soooooo bad. :guilty::sad1:

I'm glad Lucy is fine!
