we are going to book the 7 night ---we consist of me, my DH, MIL, teenage son, 8 year old son, and 5 year old son.
we would like to book a cat 6--for hubbie and i ---and a cat11 acrss the hall with MIL, and all three sons....we are DVC members--and this is our question----will they allow us to book a cat 6 that sleeps 4--just in case the 2 little ones want to sleep with us in the cat 6 on some nights?
confusing?---but to a DVCer--it probably makes sense.....obviously we will use less points to book all three sons in the cat11 with grandma---52 more points to be exact....so how can we book them in it--and still make sure there will be room for them if they want to come to our room???
also--does anyone know which room numbers in deck 5 would allow us to do this (verandah--with a cat 11 across the hall)
we prefer deck 5 from all we have read--but deck 6 would be ok too---we want to be aft also....thanks so much for your help in this--as we will be booking tomorrow!!!!
amy:)

I'd call DCL and inquire about availability of cat. 6's that sleep 4 and get cabin no.'s. Then when you call DVC you can request a particular cabin.

thanks--good suggestion---do you use points for your cruises? we like the fact that there are no huge cash outlays--for us or the kids--just tips , incidentals, and excursions!!!

We are cruising next May on the Magic and have a similar situation. My husband and I are in a cat. 6 (room 6540) which sleeps 4. We really don't need one that sleeps four because our daughters who are staying across the hall in a cat.11 are 18 and 21. We have a third cabin (cat.11) next to our daughters for just my MIL. We paid cash for the cat. 11's and are paying points for the cat. 6. If you check out the Passporter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line they list the cabins and how many they sleep. You should always double check when you make the reservations because I have heard that there are some discrepancies in the guide book. The one thing that you should know is that you will have to pay full price (points) for one of your children. No matter what the first two people in a cabin pay full price even if they are kids. As a matter of fact, we are paying 175% of the fare for one person for my MIL who has her own cabin. (We are paying $1400 for a cat. 11 for her) I actually feel kind of guilty because all of the rooms sleep 4 and we will never have more than 2 in a room. But we didn't realize that they slept 4 until we already had them reserved. If I could call one place to have them changed I would. But I would have to call MS for the cat. 6 and DCL for the cat. 11's. Guess we'll stay where we are.

Yes, we use points for all our cruises (and we've taken my in-laws once and my parents & son's best friend once). Using points or doing in cash is IMHO a personal decision and everyone makes that decision for themselves (e.g. please no debates on points value). To us, having a big family, we could never ever afford (or let's say my DH would never pay that much money for ONE vacation) to cruise Disney and take others. That's why we get, and LOVE, inside connecting cabins. If there is a points special we get cat. 9's but I have no problems with cat. 10's. As long as they connect, I don't care where I am on the ship.

I just called MS to get the points break when you rebook on board (or actually 3 days back) and it's about a 15-20% break - wohoo - that means this Nov. we will book for next Oct. 2 and take my dear sister in law who is flying up from FL this year so DH and I can do our adults only cruise! YEA - I couldn't be happier! Will be getting 3 cat. 10's and saving around 150 points!

I know you don't need a handicap room but they have a little space. Staterooms 6146, 6148 are across the hall from 6147 which is a handicap stateroom which is a little bit big than a normal cat. 11 stateroom. 6146 and 6148 have verandahs. Same with 6646 and 6648 across the hall from another HC stateroom 6647. BTW you'll still be charged 2 adult fares in each stateroom, yes it would be less points to put your teenage son with MIL after that they will go by the childrens ages as to how many points you'll be using.

Sorry about spelling errors my 6 yo is rushing me out the door.

Disney6, we did the same thing. We booked our cabin for May using the rebooking while on board offer (which you really have to do within 3 days after the cruise thorugh MS). I was pleasantly surprised to save 12 points per person on the 7-day Eastern cruise for next May. It's going to be very difficult not to keep up the pattern of booking right away to save points. The discount actually made our cat.6 the same rate as a cat.7.

thanks for the info on re-booking to save points!!!!

Will we ever want to go to the parks again!!!????
