Little Confused About CS Credits

Okay, I think I basically understand how the DDP works, and I have until Sep to figure it out.

I know I get one snack, one CS, and one TS credit for each day of our stay, and my DM gets one for each day as well. So for our eleven day - ten night stay, we'll have twenty of each credit between the two of us.

I also know it doesn't matter when we use them, and could theoritically go to ten TS meals in one day. Which of course we wouldn't do, I'm just saying, we could.

I know a snack is anything with that symbol on it on the menu board at the CS locations. (I was at Disney last month and kind of paying attention to the DDP, since I knew I would have it later this year.) I also know that since we are going during the Food and Wine Festival, we can use our snack credits at the food booths.

I also understand how the TS credits work, at lunch and dinner, we probably won't be doing any TS breakfasts anyway, except for Crystal Palace, so I don't have to worry about what's included on the DDP with that, since it's a buffet, and I know it's one TS credit per person. And I know for lunch and dinner it's one appetizer, entree, and dessert, plus a soda or coffee, or whatever, for each credit, (or two credits in case of the signature restaurants.) And since I can't imagine eating a full meal every day, (I usually just get two appetizers instead of an entree, and dessert,) and I know my DM definatly wouldn't / couldn't eat a full meal, we'll be splitting a lot.

My confusion, is when it comes to the CS meals. I know most of the CS locations are included, and that's part of what confuses me. Places like the bakeries, like Boulangerie Patisserie, which I'm just using as an example, what exactly is considered a CS meal there since that is mostly pastry-dessert type items? Also, using Columbia Harbor House as an example this time, I know I'm entitled to an entree item, dessert and a drink, but say I order one of the sandwhiches, that doesn't come with anything, i.e. fries, would I also be allowed to get a side, like fries, or coleslaw? I know if I ordered something like the fried fish, that already comes with fries we wouldn't get an additional side. But, I think I remember reading at one point that if it didn't come with a side or wasn't a combo meal, that the CS credit then included a side at no additional cost. Is that correct?

TIA.

I think you've got it.

Yes, if a sandwich or other entree item at a CS location doesn't come with a side you can ask for a side item off the menu.

As for bakeries, we used CS credits at Main St. Bakery in the MK, the Patisserie in France, and the Boardwalk Bakery. For a CS credit at these locations you can get a sandwich, a pastry, and a drink. OR, you can get two pastries and a drink for a CS credit. Note that at the Patisserie you can only get a regular sized drink.

That's the way things are supposed to work. Good for planning, but always ask when you are actually there. Things do change and some CS have special rules - especially at the non-Disney-owned CS. The CM's are usually friendly and happy to help.

At WPE (our favorite CS) for example, you get item, drink and dessert. You don't get a side if the item is a pizza, salad or something that doesn't come with a side.

After a week at Disney, it was hard not to start off a meal at a restaurant (or even my Mom's) without asking, "We are on the Dining Plan - what are we allowed to order?"

At CHH last year, they also allowed the person behind us to get chowder or soup instead of dessert. The only dessert was chocolate cake, he was in a big group so they already had several chocolate cakes, and when he declined the cake, they offered him a cup of soup or chowder instead.

But no, if your CS 'entree' is not part of a combo, you cannot get a side order of anything included in your meal credit.

You can pay for it separately, or you can (as indicated above) ask if you can substitute fries for, say, dessert.

you summed it good for folks

I would add the snack credit is good for anything under $4.00

so, 2 liters at resort snack stores, milk..those type items work

also when in the parks ANY snack item under $4. qualifies(this doesn't include Dowtown and when you get somewhere they try and tell you otherwise..ask for the manager and when he tells you NO at some point that day make your way to guest relations and report the incident.

I was at the French bakery in Sept, it was busy, the girl kept telling me NO and she wouldn't even give us a soda(except the small) and she wouldn't get us any help. Rather than hold the line up further I felt embarassed and left without my food and drink.
I wrote and told Disney about it and they confirmed I was right, the bakery is on the DDP and if the choices I made were under $4. I was within my rights
They told me the next time that happens to get a manager and when they fail to go to guess relations, so they canj teach the person in error.
