the famous BTG threads.....:rotfl: I don't mind excitement either....but rudeness is not a cultural thing....so we should stop saying it is.
A couple years ago when a group of spanish speaking teens in matching shirts tried to shove by myself and kids on a ride, and then tried again when I stood in their way, then when I shook my head (like any good mama would do) they tried the 'no english,we don't understand you' routine...:rotfl2:
But a solid "NO!!!" for the last time was enough to let them know that pushing is rude,no matter where you are. And, it translates easily too.:thumbsup2they backed away and didn't try again. Maybe they need their moms with them so they remember their manners.....:rotfl:

Good for you! More people need to do what you did!

Have gone to Disney the past 2 years in January. Never again. The BTG's have competely turned me off of that time of year. I cannot stand the rudeness, the chanting and the line cutting. I don't vacation at Disney in the summer but will now know to avoid July as well.

I watched a group at ASMu in January. A mom with a 4 year old and a baby in a stroller opened the door of the main bldg. to go out towards the pool. At the same time, a group of about 50 swarmed the doors, pushed her out of the way and barged in. The stroller almost got knocked over and the little kid got pushed into the mother who grabbed her. Completely unacceptable no matter what your county of origin is. I was shopping in the gift shop and one of them reached in front of me and took the item I was reaching for. My daugher looked at me and her mouth dropped open.

That kind of behavior is intolerable and cannot be defended.

I understand why WDW tolerates these groups, because they bring in big $$$.
But we are ALL WDW guests, and Disney must be aware by now, the difficulties these groups cause.

I really feel a lot of problems could be avoided if WDW issued an Etiquette pamphlet to the Tour Group organizers, of what is acceptable behaviour, and what is not, a sort of do's and don'ts, to be issued to all their kids. Then signed by them and their parents that they've read it, as part of their packet of info.

Little Brazil that is so freaking funny!!!!!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl:
We have encountered them our past two trips that were in late July and they were awful. They are rude obnoxious and so ill behaved. They also have no manners when it comes to picking up behind themselves and love to just drop trash wherever they see fit but as bad as they are their counselors/leaders are even worse by making excuses for their behavior and not calling them out for it. Beware though because they also stay at the moderates or at least last summer there were a ton of them at POR which sent a lot of guest running over to POFQ for refuge. :crowded:

My first trip to Disney was over 20 years ago in July and these groups were annoying back then too. Sounds like it's gotten worse. Glad I'm going at the end of August and hope to not have a problem.

I totally agree that the behaviour is obnoxious and rude. To me, it's really Disney's responsiblity to do something about it. Issue a code of conduct that EVERY guest needs to abide by and enforce it. Turning the other cheek, for whatever reason (money, fear, who knows), is inexcusable. I put this squarely on WDW's shoulders to fix.

We experienced the Brazilian Tour invasion few years ago when we went the last week of July. There were so many of them we could not get on any rides, thankfully there were none at the GF where we were staying. We swore never to return in the middle of the summer.

We stayed Mid July 2010 and found the TG to be large and overwhelming. Huge amounts of people trying to do the same thing at once was awful. We could not get around them. There were multiple groups at each park and water park.

I did not experience any rudeness, just massive amounts of people going the same place as we were at ever park no matter where we started or hopped to in the evening.

We have two high school age teens in sports, so our window to tour is from Mid July to Mid August for the entire year. This year we are trying Aug 7-13 and hope for the best. When my teens are off to college and it's just DH and I we will never, ever tour in July again ;)

We were waiting in the standby line for the Rnr about a month ago (DW,DH,DS). The standby time was about 50 mins and the line was moving, all of a sudden about 100 green shirted Brazillians started to file into the FP line and I asked DW how do all these kids get a fast pass for the same time? :confused3 .. Well needless to say the 50 min wait turned into a 100 min wait and by the time we actually got into the ride "poof" the TG had rode and left the attraction. I would have to imagine that Disney gives these groups some sort of "special" fast pass :rolleyes2 that are not available to the generally well behaved non TG guests.

How they do it is they give their KTTW card to a "runner" who goes to one FP machine with 100 or more cards and ties up that machine while he gets FP's for the group while they ride an attraction. Then while they are riding another attraction and the wiindow to get another FP opens this "runner does this same thing again; it's a continual cycle. They literally have a person running hours at a time gathering FP's for the entire group. Hopefully with the new policy (enforcing existing rule) with FP's this will help to end such a problem like the one you encountered.

Wow, absolutely crazy :crazy2:

How is it Disney's responsibility? Its the parent's and chaperone's responsibility. A "code of conduct" would require them to READ. You think they are going to read it and do it?

How can children be held accountable for their actions when they see parents doing the exact same things.
You go to a place with crowds, you are going to encounter rude folks! I speak up and say "excuse me" really loud... or say NO! like the previous poster.

It's the "All about me society" that has been created and you have to stand your own ground. The days of being nice and kind to others is gone...

We are at WDW now. While there aren't any at the Poly, the parks have a lot of tour groups. Haven't seen anything rude (yet) but they travel in extremely large groups. It's difficult to get around them and they all get on the same ride at the same time. The chanting (which irks me) has been nonexistent so far...

Umm, the parents aren't there. With other groups (Pop Warner, for ex.) I've read that Disney does enforce rules, and groups who don't follow them are kicked out. The same needs to be applied to the BTGs, IMO.

Just curious, what are the new FP rules that will stop the oft reported fast pass hogging antics of the BTGs?

I don't get why they have to travel all together in packs. If they just had a designated meeting place and time and split up I think it might reduce some of the aggressive herd behaviour.

See TGs all the time in January (another big Brazilian holiday month). Some are nice quiet families with younger ones but you still have the teenage ones in unruly packs.(not all are unruly-but it doesn't take more than just a few obnoxious ones to spoil it for all everyone)

It's actually an old rule, but is one that is newly being enforced. FP's have a one hour window to return to ride the attraction. In the past WDW overlooked this window; as a result one could get a FP and sit on it, then get another FP and sit on it, thus accumulating FP's and then using them later in the day. Now one has to return during that one hour window in order to use the FP thus eliminating being able to stash them and use them later.

We have visited in February, May, June, August, October and December and now July this year, it was like nothing I had ever seen before, the groups were so huge, and completely disrespectful. Pushing and shoving is not excitement or cultural, it's rude. If people came into our business and acted like that I would 100% think it was the responsibility of myself and my staff to try to maintain order. Apparently Disney does not share this same sense of responsibility. We would likely not visit in July again.

I just got back from a week at Little Brazil(AKA Disney's All-Star Sports Resort).;):)

Was anyone else there this week.I would love to hear your experiences at this new South American-themed resort.;):)

We were there 3 years ago for that oh-so-fun experience. Gaggles of pushy, rude young Brazilians. They were in the building across from us and every morning around 7:30 they did some stupid cheer and dance in the courtyard. Every night the guys played soccer while the girls trashed up & ogled them. Fun times.

Then they descended upon the food court where they let all of their friends cut in line at the registers and completely blocked the drink station.

Next, you got to ride on the bus, if you could even get near the bus, with all of them. They don't seem to understand the concept of politeness and we never once saw any of them offer a seat to an senior citizen, woman, or mom with a young child. They did, however, push and shove to make sure they had a seat.

All Star Music in July? Never again.

We were there 7/9 to 7/16 and the BTGs were plentiful but they did not affect us at all. They were not rude nor did they chant except one night as they were headed in a conga line to their bus stop.

The only time I was "annoyed" was one of their flags kept blocking my pictures of the "Let the Memories Begin" sign during the opening cermonies at MK

I guess we were lucky!
