little AP help plz

Ok, booked a sav view room at AK for 154 a night for Jan 31-Feb 4, 4 nights using the AP rate.

Worst case scenario is that I have to buy the AP and only save a hundred dollars on the cost of this trip, but will save lots of cash when I return Nov or Dec '03.

Best case scenario is that codes come out with discounts close to AP rates and I don't have to buy the actual AP.

I've been reading these boards for a few months now, did I finally figure this out correctly?

Yes, as long as you switch to a code rate at some point if they are offered and you decide to do that.

Remember, you should switch the code with CRO prior to arrival. I don't thinkg the desk clerks have the ability to switch codes.

No you didn't. What you decribed as your worst case scenario is actually your best case scenario.

Buying the AP may only(!) save you $100 this trip but it will save you hundreds more for your return trip in '03 provided you return before the AP expires. Your park admissions will already have been paid for.

If you don't get the AP now, you may save a few dollars this trip buying some other park admission media for this trip but you will also have to spend hundreds more to buy park admissions for your return trip.

If you are definitely going to have two trips within a year the AP is the way to go whether you get AP room rates with it or not.
