I just listed my first item on EBAY for sale, it's a Christmas Dress. It was pretty easy to set up and auction but I do have some questions for those DISer's who are regulars.

1.) If my item does not sell I am still charged the .35 cent insert fee and the .10 cents I spent for the designer listing, correct?
2.) If it does sell, than I am charged this fees, plus a fee based on the selling price? So if it sells for say $10.00, then it would cost me about .96 cents?? Plus my paypal fees if they pay via paypal?
3.) Shipping/Handling, how do you do yours, I have no idea how much it costs to send a size 24 months dress so I used the calculate shipping option... can I send a dress in a large envelope, do post offices carry these, I've seen free shipping items in the PO, what services are these for... do you charge a S & H fee?
4.) What is a lot auction, I have two of these dresses, would it be better to list by themselfs or together as a lot, does a lot mean two different bidders or one price for both?

Any hints/tips/etc? I wanted to list the dress to see what happens, any advice would be appreciated.

You might want to post on the budget board. There are a WHOLE bunch of EBAY people over there and they are constantly swapping tips.

I usually use priority for clothes since PM supplies are free. If I sell something that I have to buy supplies for I charge a dollar for handling. Otherwise I just do actual shipping costs.

The same dress? If it is the same I would do them seperatly. If you mean two different dresses than you could say a "lot of two dresses blah blah" in the title. Try lurking on the community boards at ebay. I have learned TONS by doing that LOL. A lot would be one bidder for both items unless you do a dutch auction which means you have more than one of the same item for sale at once.

Just a tip, if you do sell something and someone pays with paypal make sure you get delivery confirmation even if you have to pay for it yourself. This protects you since a buyer could say they never received item then get refunded their $$ with paypal. Paypal almost always sides with the buyer if you can not prove delivery of item.

Question number 1
Yes you are charged the insertion fee and the designer listing if it doesn't sell.

If you list it again and it does sell then you get a refund for one of the insertion fees.

If it does sell then yes it would be about 96 cents. 5% (I can't remember for sure but it does say on there) of the final value fee plus your 45 cents in your listing fees.
