List writing time...what will I forget?

Here is an idea I used on my trip in December with my son who was 4 at the time. It's a busy box...... for the airplane or car would work. I found a flat box that opens from the top, like the new donut boxes but stronger I think I found it at work, anyhow. I drew a match box car size streets and made it look like a town then covered it with clear contact paper, inside the box was 3 little cars, smaller then matchbox and a mini magadoodle (walmart) some stickers a marker with a small notepad. A few pieces of candy, pipecleaners. a couple of small super hero figures. I gave this to my son after take off and it kept him busy for hrs.

Hi,
Great list. Another thing we always pack is an emergency blanket. They are about the size of a deck of cards and you can get them in the camping area of Wallmart. They are great at the end of the day when the temperatures drop.

Before you leave

2 weeks prior to your vacation departure, you should call to verify your reservations for your hotel or resort room as well as your car rental (if this applies to you). This will ensure that everything is moving along smoothly with your vacation. If there are any problems with your reservation, this gives you time to work them out or seek other accommodations.

5 days prior to your vacation departure, you should begin packing for every person in the family. Here is a list of some essentials you should bring along. This is provided because we know that vacations could be hectic and we want to help the process be as smooth as possible. Walt Disney World is a magical place and you should be able to enjoy that without having to worry about items you left behind.

After you are all packed and ready to go, it is time to take care of your home. This is the time to throw out any food that may spoil while you are gone. This is also the time to ensure the care of all pets (fish, cats, dogs, etc.). You can take your cat or dog to a kennel while you are away if necessary or you can ask a family member, friend, or neighbor to come over, feed, and interact with your pets while you are gone.

Another thing you should do is call the post office and the newspaper, ask them to hold your mail or paper until you have returned. This will help you in a number of ways. First you will not have to worry about coming home to a large pile of mail flowing out of your mail box or newspaper littering your lawn or porch. Furthermore, it will not alert possible intruders to the vacancy of your home while you are gone.

Lastly, ask neighbors to keep an eye on your home while you are on vacation. Ask them if they see any suspicious activity to notify the authorities. However, you should also let them know if you have anyone coming over to take care of your pets, water your plants, or get your newspaper and mail. Explain to them who will be in your home while you are gone, give them a general description of the person and the automobiles they drive. This will help ensure the safety of your possessions while you are on vacation.

In Conclusion

Have a great time on your vacation and experience all you can of the magic of Walt Disney World. By using this helpful guide, you will make sure you are ready for your vacation and leave no stone unturned.

If you're staying at a place that has a kitchen, let me know. I have a meal idea list, too.

Wow, you DIS'ers never cease to amaze me! I can't wait to start packing. I think the dirty laundry bag is brilliant! This will definately help keep the hotel room clean and help when we pack up. There's so many things that I would have forgot without you guys! MORE MORE MORE!:yay:

Don't forget the addresses of anyone you hope to send a postcard (or coconut) to.

We had baseball caps that were great for when it rained. We wore it under the poncho and the bill of the hat was able to keep the rain from dripping down our faces and into our eyes. The hats can clip onto your waist pack during ride & TS meals easily

I was searching and found this thread and was wondering, does anyone have any more ideas, I'm all ears :listen: . These lists are great! I can't wait to start packing.

I like the over the door shoe rack idea. What type of things do you store in those?

Don't forget a plastic m&m container for all your quarters for the penny press machines. It's much easier then digging for quarters....
some have sugessted an old film container too , but the kids like the colourful m&m ones. You can fit your pennies in there too ( line them up , ready to use).

I JUST put one of the M&M containers in my "put random stuff to take to Disney" bag yesterday!! DD4 was so addicted to the pressed pennies at the zoo.

Also, I think I'm officially convinced to get an over-the-door shoe holder...I know after a couple days in the hotel room it will be trashed, this should definately help out!
Thanks everyone!! Only 31 days to go for me!!!

We just got back from POR and we had a blast. This was the first year we used the over the door shoe rack and it was a huge success. We will do that for every trip from now on. Try it you will like it.

Some things I pack that I don't think were mentioned in previous posts:

Lysol wipes (I always wipe down the bathroom, remote control for TV and any other surfaces where my kids may touch that I want to be sure are clean!) Just because it "looks" clean, doesn't mean it is.

Slippers - I know this may sound weird but I will not put my bare feet on the floor of any hotel room. Slippers are a life saver for me.

Game Boy for kids and charger

Small dixie cups or some type of disposable cups to use for rinsing your mouth, or your kids after brushing teeth.

Flushable wipes

Some type of powder for husband, always seems to get a rash between his legs from sweating and all the walking :confused3

Rechargable batteries and charger for fans (the portable misting ones)

For the kids I buy the washcloths that already have the bath wash in them. You just get them wet and they get soapy and wash the kid and throw them away.

Don't forget your medication

Q-tips

Saftey pins

If your child is attached to a special toy or blanket needed at nap or bed time, you definitely don't want to forget that!

Health insurance and prescription card - just in case and doctor phone numbers/pediatrician

If you have a little one - Disposable bibs are a must

If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

I did it! I broke down and bought the over-the-door shoe rack. ($6.50 at walmart, couldn't find one cheaper anywhere else). All you DIS'ers couldn't be wrong! My Dsis said it's official--I'm a dork! But I'll be an organized dork!

Disposable ponchos. They fit really well into a pocket, fanny pack, etc. and are a lifesaver. Cost less than $1 at Target, K-mart, etc. I bring 3 or 4 and just toss them away after using. That way, you don't have to fold down your WDW poncho and carry it around (they're very bulky).

over the door shoe holders can be found at dollar store for a buck. over the door dirty clothes basket can be found there too and they are two. keeps them off the floor.

Since I spent $6 for mine I Guess I'll have to go to WDW 5 more times to make it worth the $$$!
